Chapter Twenty-Six : Was Almost There

"Well... There's a LOT of silver in here." Fearian looked at all the silver that painted the entire chamber, ignoring that Blarence sat there and just spoke. "Wait, is it safe for me to glide over it?" Fearian darted his head at king Salvador.

"Just shut up Grevalon," Red said through his gritted teeth.

Fearian ignored Red as he carefully lifted a shadowy arm over the silver wall to inspect if any sizzling or hissing would occur the moment he touches it. But nothing happened. "Okay, never mind." Fearian then glided over to the side.

"We're here to end your mess, do you have anything else to say?" Salvador folded his arms behind his back, readying his magic if there was a sudden attack from Blarence.

Blarence only chuckled.

"You'll never hear the end of me, silver bug, you might remove me from my kin's body, but I will always come back and I'll be the one to end you and your damn lineage of Moon Kings. Heed my words." Blarence's grin twitched.

"Then I'll be there to prevent your arrival in any way I can, Red," Salvador turned to Red. "it's time."

Without any words, Red slid his fingers through the iron rings of the gem he gripped to keep it intact with his palm, all while he approached Blarence with heavy footsteps. The more he approached, the more Blarence's lips twitched and growled.

Fearian, Salvador and Shaun only stood afar and watched.

Red landed the hand with the gem on Blarence's head as he tried to shake it off with a hiss. "Get your hands off—"

Red ignored him as he grabbed Blarence's throat with his free hand and focused on the gem to activate it; the gem then began to glow with a hum. As Red was activating his equipment and readying its energy to exorcise, Blarence began to act more aggressively than before, struggling to shake his head that was gripped by the hunter and struggling with his body held by the silver chains.

"Tell me when you get him out," Salvador called, his hands now concealed in glimmering moons.

"Hold on, I think this is going to take a while." There was a grunt in Red's tone, and the humming was becoming louder and louder.

And for Blarence's aggressive behaviour, it turned into growls and snarls that of an actual beast than a Meanian or man.

"Um, guys? I think there is something wrong going on." Fearian looked over his shoulders and at the others.

Shaun's knees wiggled and trembled as his spectacles began to slip from his nose, Salvador's hands tightened into fists as he stared at Red, or were his eyes on Blarence mostly? Since his growls went deeper and more threatening?

"Hold still." Red tightened the grip on Blarence's head as the humming went louder even more, to the point the others heard it in the distance.

"M-M-Maybe it's taking him long because the clone is -p-p-powerful?" Shaun finally turned to Fearian.

"No, there's something else, I can feel it myself... Something's not right--"

Clang clang clang

The three men turned around when they heard an object clanging against the metal floor behind them. What greeted them was a small red orb that rolled towards them, only for it to stop rolling once it reached them.

They took a closer look at the orb, and what they saw was a small fiery spark that ate away the small rope, and that fiery spark was making its way inside the orb with a hiss.

"Oh, I heard these orbs explode once that fire-- OH SHIT GET DOWN!" Fearian screamed as he threw himself at Shaun and Salvador. But as soon as he did, the orb had already blown up into a deafening boom, and blinding crimson clouds filled the air.

And that explosion sent the men flying towards the walls due to strong force. However, the explosion couldn't push Fearian because of his shadow form. Yet, he was blinded by the floating red dust.

The men's spines were met with a straight crash that knocked their breath out of their bodies along with a short scream of pain. That scream escaped Shaun's mouth only as his bare wings sizzled at the silver wall's touch.

Fortunately, that crash lasted for a second, and he fell to the silver floor. Only when he fell he faced an even worse injury. The metal floor burned his cheeks the moment his face touched the floor.

In great speed, Shaun, despite the burning pain, pushed himself as hard as he could and laid on the side where his skin wasn't bare. Biting his lips as his loud cries of pain escaped his mouth, waiting for the burn to pass and the water in his eyes to dry.

On the other hand, Salvador had received a painful hit in the back but took a moment to realize what had happened. He swayed a little as he made a quick effort to stand up and cough as he gasped the bitter dust into his throat and lungs. He looked around to find Shaun on the floor, coughing and shivering.

"Shaun!" Salvador coughed as he ran to him and pulled him to his feet. "Are you alright?"

"T-T-Think s-s-so, e-everything is red and I c-can't see well," Shaun stuttered

"Wait where's Fearian and Red!?" Salvador looked around again for any signs of them.

"What the actual hell!?" Fearian cried through the clouds. And it came from the right.

As the clouds slightly lifted from the air, Salvador was able to see Fearian fly towards the exit. And what stood in the gateway was a crimson robed figure, pushing the gates to a close with reddish wood-like vines.

"Stop right there!" Salvador cried and took a sprint along with Fearian.

But the moment they neared the exit to stop that person, who came out of nowhere, the gates were already closed and blocked by the thick vines. A few even crept between the gaps of the planks and crawled all over the door from the inside.

"God damn it! Really?!" Salvador punched the vines, as if they would slither away in pain.

"Um g-guys?! What about the hunter?!" Shaun called in more panic than ever.

"FUCKING SHI--"

There was no time for the men to turn and see the source of the yell, because Red, a Meanian giant with a horrendous weight, was already falling towards them.

"SHIT DUCK!" Fearian finally did something for once, he managed to touch his king and forced him to a crouch as Red hit the gates with his back and shook the walls.

The men made space when the hunter dropped to the floor with painful grunts, gladly for him he was already wearing his long gloves and coat which protected him from the metal floor and walls, yet still gave him some intense pain.

"Red! Are you alright?!" Salvador knelt and reached a hand.

"No I'm... Not..." Red wheezed.

"How did you get thrown?!" Fearian cried.

"That damn explosion... Cut us off... We're too late now." Red managed to sit up and raise a shaking finger ahead.

As the clouds were fading away, something else emerged from the crimson mist. A large and dark hand clawed one of the pillars as a large tail swung in the air behind it, quickly blowing away the mist to reveal its narrowed sharp feet and legs.

Then revealed its flesh that hugged its figure along with a snarling snout that drooled with saliva. Finally, it flapped its gigantic wings and let out a deafening roar that quaked the chamber.

Red was right, they were too late.
