Chapter Thirteen : To The Healing Temple
They fell in a pit that was cracked by a Dark Meanian, then they found an underground tunnel that led to multiple paths, and one of them brought Red and Fearian to King Salvador's palace library.
All the strange and unknown discoveries had truly baffled them and summoned more serious questions about what was truly going on in the kingdom. However, they didn't have time to find answers right now, not while Fearian was still bleeding so much blood and losing consciousness.
They had to continue.
"Why would the tunnel lead us here?" Fearian tried to breathe again.
"I don't know why but we don't have much time, we should get going to the Healing Temple right now." Red began to stride without hesitation, causing the books on the shelves to jump and tremble from Red's quakes.
As they came out of the corridor of bookshelves, they found a large roundtable in the middle of the large room, and empty armchairs surrounded the table. King Salvador was nowhere to be seen, that's where Fearian's head dropped into Red's broad shoulder, insisting him to get out and focus on healing him.
Red realised that he was on his own for now.
Great He thought to himself.
Red strode again and out of the library and into the silvery hallway, he noticed that almost every guard that stood in line in the hallway were gone. Bringing tension and concern to fill his stomach and hardening his heart to sink.
What if things got worse? He asked his mind, as if it had the answer.
What if that Dark Meanian already caused so much chaos and panic which brought King Salvador's presence there? What if the situation grew more troubling and dangerous while the Dark Meanian was on the loose?
These terrible thoughts and worries quickened Red's pace through the hallway, almost jogging and causing stronger earthquakes with every heavy step he took.
Thud, thud, thud, that was the only thing heard as he ran his way through. That was until another confused voice joined.
"What is all that noise--" Two Helpers were striding the opposite direction towards Red, their robes were lifted by their hands to let their sandalled feet run hurriedly and freely.
Sheer panic was written all over their faces, only to be filled a little with relief when they spotted Red ahead of them.
"Hunter Minsan?! It is a relief you're here!" One of them approached Red quickly with a smile that lasted for a few seconds.
"But how did you come here so fast? And why are you bathed in dust?" The other asked as he looked at him from top to bottom with confusion.
"You really don't know about a secret tunnel that led me here?" Red rose an eyebrow at them.
"W-Wait what tunnel?! We've heard that you fell into a deep pit while you chased after Grevalon! Speaking of which, where is Grevalo--"
"Oh DEAR MIGHTY KINGS HE'S DEAD!" The other Helper noticed the unconscious Fearian on his shoulder as he cried in shock.
"Look he's not dead yet! He's bleeding a lot and he needs to go to the Healing Temple right now!" Red cried.
"How are you certain he's not dead yet?! Look at these INJURIES! What will the king do to you!?" He cried back anxiously.
"He said it himself before he passed out! We don't have much time we need to go to heal him!" Red repeated and added before he strode past them. "Where's the King?"
"Coincidentally, he's in the Healing Temple!" The Helper called out to him as Red kept striding out of the palace and to the temple.
~~~
The temple wasn't that far, it only took 15 minutes to walk to the destination. But with Red's height, weight and long strides, he arrived quicker than expected.
The tall red pillars that stood outside of the ancient entrance greeted him inside, and as he continued, he was met with a flight of stairs that led to the underground basement. The temple itself was entirely painted in vermillion red and dark amber, and it was built with bricks and sandstone and even red clay.
Carved into the walls and ceilings were neat yet old drawings of Fire Meanians with their squared bodies, holding bowls of herbs and phials in their hands and healing.
When he arrived at the basement, the rooms and halls inside were bright and brilliant with their countless torches hanging in every wall. It was as if the sun was lighting the rooms inside from open windows.
He passed through the hallway where multiple Fire Meanians walked around with phials and healing supplies in their hands, helping and curing some other Meanians in other rooms.
"Can anyone help me here?! I've got a dying man!" His call was loud enough, and it brought everyone's eyes to land on him immediately as he kept approaching.
"What's the problem?" Two of the Fire Meanians came to him.
"He got a cracked skull and broken wing and a rib, he's losing a lot of blood." Red tried to lift Fearian off his shoulder as gently as possible and gave him to the men to hold and examine.
"He's in a serious condition, and he needs to be sent to Franciy immediately!" One of them called in urgency.
Having no time to hesitate, the men held Fearian's lifeless body and dragged him to one of their rooms, all while Red stood there and watched him disappear once he was inside and the curtain was closed.
For some reason, he suddenly felt a tiny emotion tug his heart within, the emotion that he used to hide and ignore in front of people.
That was sympathy, it tugged his giant heart at the sight of the injured Fearian being dragged to be healed, and how he desperately wanted to save his father from the kingdom's enemy.
Someone cleared his throat with a familiar smooth voice that everyone knew, Red turned to the man who stood next to him, a pair of golden eyes were staring back at him with a raised eyebrow.
That's where guilt followed along to tug his heart, but that tug was pulling it downward at the sight of these golden eyes.
