Chapter Fourteen : A Serious Discussion

Darvin wasn't that injured, the bruises on his face were slight, his adrenaline empty as he was breathing for a rest, it was only his broken elbow that hurt.

But what was more painful than his injuries was the fact of his knowledge of his father and brother's wounds. Fearian's were almost fatal while his father had a large and dark visible bruise on the side of his abdomen, and a dark eye caused by the leak of his blood within his skin.

Yet here he was, lying soundly on the stony bed mattressed with multiple thick fabrics of woven wool.

He wasn't alone with his father, King Salvador himself and Red were with him. They were discussing with each other to pass the time of Fearian's close examination.

"Let me get this straight, Fearian was wearing a necklace that kept him immortal and told you himself that he didn't attack one of the guards?" Salvador said.

"And he confirmed that he did escape the dungeons," Red added with crossed arms.

"And what else did he tell you?" Salvador's tone was getting more serious as the events were becoming more threatening.

"Well, he did say that he did it because he heard whispers about his father's death and no one believed him, until it was confirmed when he dreamt of a Dark Meanian visiting him in his sleep, and telling him of his plan," Red explained.

"Fearian told me the same thing, the plan he mentioned was about the Dark Meanians trying to... Somehow bring their leader back from the dead. He also mentioned that the Dark Meanian gave Fearian a dream that he cannot dream but communicate." Darvin gave his side of the story.

Salvador laid his fingers on his temple as he tried to process what was happening, yet hearing about the Dark Meanian's plan sent his heart to harden and ache from the sheer anxiety he was going through right now.

A dream where you can communicate with others required a lot of power, and Dark Meanians planning to bring a leader from the dead referred to a king. Dark Meanians never had leaders unless they had either a king or a chief to lead them.

Silver bug Realisation suddenly kicked in once he remembered the spirit he met within the Dark man's body. He didn't think about his concerns about what may happen, because with the information he received from his men, he knew that he's fulfilling his promises that he thought will never be fulfilled until now.

Salvador tried to shrug it off.

"You look like you know what that means, yet you don't want to admit it to us," Red said.

"I'm afraid you're right, but to make sure we have to wait for Fearian's side of the story to confirm it," Salvador let out a long sigh.

"On our way to the Stonalie Valley, my men and I found three Dark Meanians outside of Stariaz's house. One of them was hurting Onel while the other two were pressing into Darvin, just as we surrounded them, the older Dark man mentioned something about fulfilling his desire to torture. That was before his voice changed into a deep one which told me a completely different plan." Salvador shared his side next.

"What was the next plan?" Darvin asked.

"He said something about bringing this kingdom to the depths, and then he disappeared along with the two Dark men. I told all men to search within the kingdom and on the outskirts for any hidden enemies beforehand. To double the security and prepare for what might be a bigger threat coming sooner or later," he answered.

"That's where we also found Stariaz's... Corpse, his heart had been plucked out by a strong hand. So we thought it was definitely the beast's doing, which then after you mentioned it, it was a Dark Meanian in disguise," this discovery was a little hard to explain for Salvador.

"We brought him to the Monks to cleanse his body and give him their prayers, may his soul find peace with Nytalie," he added with sympathy. Darvin and Red gave their condolences.

They let a moment pass by in silence, and before they could discuss any further. A Healer opened the curtain to the room and entered. Which then all eyes in the room landed on him as he stood in the middle.

"Well, due to my advanced skills in medicine, I can say that I have both good news and bad news," the Healer announced. "Fearian Grevalon will survive and recover from his injuries as soon as I start the process of removing the broken shards of bones from his head, and as it turned out, his rib was only cracked, and his wing will be healed. So that should be alright," he demonstrated.

"And the bad news?" Red said.

"Unfortunately, even when he'll survive, there are a few things that cannot be... Fixed anytime soon," his face melted into sympathetic sorrow.

"Since the skull is fractured, the shards had damaged the back of his brain, a part which is responsible for concentration and memories. So there is a strong possibility that he might start to forget things or even mix up some memories and lose focus, so physically he'll be in good health but mentally... Not so much," he explained.

Darvin bit his lower lip in concern as he glanced at his father then back at the Healer. He asked. "Is there anything else?"

"Just one more thing, to start the process I came to you Grevalon for the permission to... Ask if I can cut his hair to make my operation easy and swift, since he's still unconscious and still bleeding," he added and waited for Darvin's answer.

Darvin hesitated for a moment.

"Do whatever you must, as long as it helps my brother get better," he told him, now determined.

"Very well then, I shall go and ready my tools." He bowed to Salvador and left the room.

"I hope he doesn't mind the new haircut," Red said, Darvin and Salvador looked at him with their brows lowered.

"Really, Red?" Salvador said.
