Chapter Eight : The Chase (2/2)

Onel's hideous cries of fear and panic disturbed the stillness and the quietness of the night, the tears in his eyes blurred his path as he ran quickly out of the neighbourhood and into the open land of stone and dryness.

All while the beast kept chasing him with a thirst for murder, however, its body began to blur and flicker. Followed by a voice that was becoming clearer, it sounded more of an angry scream that came out from a man.

"You will pay... " The beast called. The tone of that yell pumped more adrenaline into his veins and forced Onel to run even faster.

Just run! Onel thought to himself.

But what about your sons?! Another thought intervened.

Darvin can handle it!

But the beast is after you idiot!

Well, I'll find a place to hide!

How the hell are you going to hide in an open space like here?!

Onel's legs kept carrying him as he started to argue with his thoughts and fears. Since he went into panic mode, he dove deep into his mind and searched for memories that could help him escape from the nightmare that chased him.

Come on! Think think think think! He repeatedly told himself, and once he focused on the path ahead, he glimpsed at the hills on the horizon. Which finally made Onel's tense mind spark a helpful memory.

"Stariaz... Yes Stariaz could help me!" He spoke his idea out loud with relief.

"ONEL!!"

A scream escaped from Onel's lips.

Just as Onel looked back at his stalker, a dark shade soared towards the beast and quickly created a black domed barrier around it and trapped it inside. But the beast jumped and kicked the solid barrier violently to escape.

"You're not going to hurt him!" A voice cried in the sky, Onel lifted his eyes and squinted at the darkness above him to spot a Terror Meanian flapping his bat wings.

"Fearian... " Onel whispered his name to himself.

The beast is trapped! Quick run to Stariaz before he breaks free! The other perspective took over and forced Onel to flee towards the hills while he had the chance. Letting Fearian take care of the beast himself.

As Fearian got a hold of it with a bit of shade that swarmed each of his curled fists, he sky-dove towards the dark dome he summoned on the desert land below.

But as he reached halfway, a silvery chain flew towards him and caught his ankle suddenly, Fearian noticed it when he felt the cold touch of the chain burn his furred skin with a hiss.

Before he could kick the chain from his foot, the loop on his ankle tightened quickly as a force from below tugged him down. Fearian flapped his wings harder as he tried to fly away and he glimpsed at the puller. That Fire Meanian held the silver chain, and he was ready to pull him down with a yank.

"Wait stop! Don't you dare do it--"

The Fire Meanian ignored his calling and yanked the chain with full force.

And with his two muscular arms, he brought Fearian falling quickly from the sky and into the hard ground. But once he hit the ground with his back, a clear loud crack came out from one of his wings.

Red didn't care when he heard it and approached him, only to see his body marked with few serious injuries caused by the beast. Yet he knew that some of the injuries were caused by Red's own actions.

Fearian's face had a big scar on his right cheek that kept oozing a completely dark liquid that they called blood, and a slight dark bruise appeared on his neck from the monstrous grip.

That was definitely the beast that was responsible, and after hearing the crack, Red remembered the other wounds that he caused to his body. Red's strong yank broke his wing when Fearian landed harshly into the ground, and then he noticed the small puddle that was slowly forming beneath his head. His eyes were closed.

"Shit!" He angrily cursed when he also noticed that Fearian's body was motionless.

The king wanted him unharmed, and he's more than harmed Red facepalmed his face hard with a loud groan.

"God damn it look what you made me do Naught!" He pulled his hand away and yelled at the unmoving body.

"You ignorant fool," a deeper voice called in the distance and caught Red's attention quickly. The black dome that was once created faded to reveal a Dark man standing there, and his red eyes were illuminating and bright.

"That man was supposed to be alive!" Two voices merged into one as the man spoke and rose his arms to the air, yet his body flickered multiple times again. This time the flickering switched between his beastly body and his Meanian body.

As he rose his arms, he ordered the wind to swarm around them and forced the earth beneath to shake, Red's eyes widened at the discovery of a powerful Dark Meanian.

Before Red could act quickly, the Dark Meanian grunted as he lifted his foot and stomped the ground as hard as he could. Causing the red giant himself to wobble from the stronger earthquake and the cracks to run fast towards Red and surrounded him.

Red removed the chain from Fearian's foot quickly and tried to throw it at the Dark Meanian, but he was too late. The stone beneath his feet cracked and shattered. The gravity pulled both Red and the body into the darkness below, into the deep pit that the Dark Meanian had cracked open.

Before the man could venture into the open again, Red's echoing scream was all he heard.
