chapter 4
'bleed and then submit'

When Alaric said they were going to have a great summer, Georgie had almost believed him.
It had started off alright with her even getting the chance to finally meet Matt Donovan and asking him tons of questions about her father which he was always more than happy to answer for her. He had told her all about his life before he trigged the curse, all about the adventures they got up to. Georgie thought that one of the best things she had heard in her life was him telling her that he saw a lot of teenage Tyler Lockwood in the teenage Georgie Lockwood. She knew her father had his faults - and anger issues that she clearly inherited - but she would forever idolise him.
She'd even gotten a little closer to Josie and Lizzie while Hope was away visiting her Aunt Freya and her wife. The twins weren't particularly keen on Hope but they tried to keep their snarky comments (most came from Lizzie) to a minimum when she was around as they knew that Georgie was just trying to keep friends and not make an enemy.
The third week of summer was when her issues really started to kick in. There was a full week left until the next full moon but her wolf was desperate to get out. She knew that her hybrid abilities meant that she wasn't bound to the wolf but she still wasn't ready to tell everyone what she really was - she was already the new, shiny orphan and she didn't want the other kids in school to gossip about her anymore than they already were after everyone learned she was THE Tyler Lockwood's daughter. She needed desperately to shift and the smallest things were setting off her inherited anger issues, but the worst part was that she had learnt from this that anger was the closest thing to almost triggering her transformation.
The third week of summer also happened to be when Hope Mikaelson came back from visiting her aunt in New Orleans, and just so conveniently happened to be when the alpha of the school's werewolf pack, Jed, returned from his mini holiday break. Many of the students only went to see their parents for a week or two rather than the full summer, especially the wolves who would need the basement prison cells for when the full moon hit. Josie had taken her down there the week prior to explain how her first full moon at the school would happen, and Georgie had planned out that she would just go with it and shift when the other wolves did to make it seem like she was just a werewolf.
The third week of summer just so happened to be the week when everything she had planned came crumbling down around her.
"Georgie! Hey!" Hope called out as she entered the grounds, seeing her roommate sitting in the front lawn of the school grounds reading one of the books that Hope had given her before leaving for New Orleans. Georgie's head shot up and a small smile fell across her lips as she watched Hope adjust her duffel bag strap as she approached her room-mate.
"Hi Hope!" Georgie said as she shut the book over, rising to her feet as she began to accompany Hope back into the boarding school. "How was seeing your Aunt?"
"It was great, was just nice to have some relaxation, you know?"
Georgie was about to respond but found her words getting cut off as a sudden crowd formed around them in the foyer of the boarding school. She noticed Lizzie and Josie rise from where they had been sitting by the fireplace, slightly worried looks on their faces as they realised what was going on. Hope had also caught on and crossed her arms, letting out a huff as she rolled her eyes.
"Sorry, can I help you all?" Georgie asked as one of the guys in the small crowd stepped so he was less than two feet away from her, towering above the girl with a staggering amount of confidence. Georgie didn't need to ask her wolf its thoughts as she knew instantly from the way the rest of the teenagers angled their bodies to him that he must have been their alpha. She was finally getting to meet the school's wolf pack.
She had heard of Jed from Hope, Lizzie and Josie but she thankfully hadn't had a chance to meet the alpha of the pack until now. In fact, she'd been almost praying she could put it off altogether since she was perfectly content not being in a pack of those that her wolf deemed a less superior species than her, even if she didn't really believe that.
Alaric had informed her that she would most likely be expected to submit to the alpha, and that no matter how hard she tried to resist her wolf would cause her to buckle under the strain. He told her that all wolves craved a pack and as soon as she joined she would instantly feel like she had joined a new family - but she didn't need another family.
"Step aside Mikaelson, we need to speak to Georgie for a moment," Jed told her, causing Georgie to furrow her eyebrows in annoyance as Hope actually did what he asked, not wanting to be caught up in any potential pack drama when she wasn't a part of the pack. Georgie crossed her arms as she already felt her anger issues flaring, the wolf inside her growling slightly as she felt attacked by his tone.
She knew that holding back her shift the past few weeks was a bad idea. She really should have even tried shifting in her room when everyone was asleep, because she was now having major issues trying to calm herself down and not let her eyes flash yellow.
"Hey, it's time for you to join the pack," Jed said casually, not expecting her to give him any resistance. No-one ever had before so why would this newly turned wolf be any different, right?
"Thanks," Georgie said as she met Josie and Lizzie's eyes over his shoulder before tightening her grip on the book in her hands that she had been reading. "But I think I'm alright."
Ignoring the warning look that Hope shot her, especially since she knew that Jed wasn't going to just let the girl away with turning the pack down, Georgie went to move past him and towards where the twins were standing. She was feeling proud of herself for turning him down and almost thought that would be the end of it until she felt a strong hand wrap around her bicep as she tried to move past Jed.
She took a deep breath in for a moment before turning her head to look at the alpha who tightened his grip slightly as he stared her down.
"You will submit to me Lockwood, I'm your alpha. We don't want any issues. We just want to initiate you into the pack, okay?" Jed said, softening his voice as he tried to convince her to just give in and submit to the pack. "The process is simple. You triggered your werewolf curse this month, which means you killed somebody recently. Maybe on purpose, maybe not."
Georgie was surprised that they didn't already know what had caused her to trigger her curse, but it warmed her heart to know that Hope, Lizzie and Josie had all kept it to themselves since they alongside the adults in her life were the only ones who knew who she had accidentally killed in a fit of rage.
"All you gotta do is tell us the story. That's our rite of passage."
"Look I said I'm not interested, okay?" Georgie said as she tried to shrug off his grip on her arm. Jed just seemed to grip on to her arm tighter as the wolf pack all moved into slightly offensive stances, Hope moving to stand beside Lizzie and Josie as the three watched in anticipation. A few of the others gathered in the foyer were also watching, having never actually seen the initiation of a wolf. They all knew there was sometimes a little fighting involved before but everyone usually ended up joining the pack.
"Listen Georgie, this isn't something you just opt in and out of. You don't have a choice. You can either submit, or you can bleed and then submit but you WILL join the pack. It's in your nature, how you chose to join is up to you but save us all the humiliation of watching you suffer first and just tell us the story."
Georgie could feel her bones hum slightly as her wolf started to resist the man in front of her. She knew exactly what she was now getting herself in for, and it became rather apparent to her that this was maybe going to have to be her moment of truth about who she really was. There was no way in hell her wolf or her would ever submit to the wolf pack, no matter how hard they beat her.
Shoving the boy off her, everyone in the entire foyer seemed to sigh in despair as they realised that Georgie was about to get herself hurt and there was nothing they could do to stop it. They had all been taught the rules of the wolf packs and knew that they couldn't get involved in the process without causing the school to turn into a full on battlefield.
The next thing Georgie knew, she had been thrown out of the doors her and Hope had just entered from, her back slamming against the grass outside as she groaned in pain. She could feel her gums ache slightly as her wolf side screamed at her to shift and protect herself, but she really didn't want to give away her secret. As she pulled herself to her feet, she watched as the wolf pack all came outside, Jed marching towards her to continue trying to make her submit to the pack. She noticed how the twins, Hope and the other students including MG gathered just past the door, watching as Alaric started to push his way through the crowd.
He too knew that he couldn't interfere in what was happening, even if he didn't agree with it. It was basic wolf politics and he knew the outcome. Rubbing his eyes slightly as he watched the Lockwood girl get into a defensive stance as Jed went barrelling towards her, he couldn't help but almost groan in despair at how much like her father she was. He too had always tried to refuse authority - minus when he was sired to Klaus at first.
Georgie swung for Jed, missing the much more experienced fight and allowing him to land a solid blow to her stomach. As she tried to regain her breath that the punch had taken away from her, he used it to his advantage and punched her across the jaw. Georgie hit the ground from the momentum, while Jed moved forward and placed his foot on her chest to keep her down as he looked down at her with a scowl on his face.
"Come on Georgie, just submit."
His eyes widened ever so slightly in guilt as she reached a hand up to touch the trickle of blood that was beginning to drip from her nose, feeling bad for hurting the new girl but knowing that it would all be okay once she finally just submitted and joined the pack since she would understand why he did what he did.
As she felt the blood on her fingertips, her wolf instantly fuelled her with rage she had only felt once before in her life: the night that she had killed Tyers. All rational thought had gone out the window and Georgie found herself no longer caring about exposing herself to the school as a werewolf-vampire hybrid. She felt herself start to shake slightly, causing Jed to suddenly looked panicked as he didn't understand why she was now what he thought was shivering.
"Lockwood?" Jed muttered lowly as she shut her eyes for a moment, almost looking like she was in pain as she clenched her jaw. He lowered himself slightly, suddenly feeling bad as he thought this was the girl about to finally submit.
Across the lawn, Hope furrowed her eyebrows from where she stood beside the twins and Alaric. They all suddenly felt unease in their stomach, as if something wasn't right. Just as Hope went to move forward, she paused in her step as Jed shot up from where he had crouched beside Georgie, taking quick steps backwards as she moved herself on to her hands and knees.
Georige's head shot up suddenly as she looked back at Jed with a fiery hatred for what he had just done, her wolf now fully starting to take control of the girl's body. Confusion and panic swept the pack's faces as they all backed up, not knowing what the girl was about to do.
In what seemed to be as quick as a flash, the Georgie Lockwood that everyone was gradually started to know was gone and in her place now stood a large black wolf, its eyes flashing dangerously yellow as it lowered its head in a deep warning growl.
"Oh my god," Josie breathed, voicing the entire student body's thoughts as they realised what had just happened. Jed and the pack were rushing away from the crouching wolf now, also realising what Georgie had just done. "But it's not a full moon."
Georgie Lockwood had just exposed the secret she had been desperate to keep: she wasn't just a normal werewolf.
