chapter 22
"What pompous monster chooses golf to torment people?"

.
The first grab she expected to send her home. Rather, she found herself still in the past she was sure, since she awoke to such familiar screams of her roommate's mother. And considering Hayley was dead in 2028, Georgie knew that she hadn't been taken home like she assumed would happen.
She wasn't sure why the Time Keeper was for some reason having her experience different time periods of the Mikaelson's lives since Hope was born but she was sure that she just needed to keep going until she eventually ended up home. She also knew that the gang back at the Salvatore School would somehow find a way to get rid of him, but until then she just needed to stay alive.
She wasn't sure if that was part of the Time Keeper's plan since she realised once she followed the sound of Hayley's voice that this wasn't going to be as easy as convincing the others she was a child of the Mikaelson's to survive. Especially since Hayley was heavily injected with wolfsbane, screaming and crying in pain and had a deceased Jackson beside her with no heart in his chest.
Georgie had seen bloodshed before, when she had killed Tyers and triggered her werewolf gene. But this was different - that had been an accident, but this was a brutal murder. Jackson's head hung limply as Hayley sobbed from where she was restrained in her chair, her eyes scrunching as she heard more footsteps enter the room.
Now Georgie knew next to nothing about the Strix. They weren't covered in their vampire history classes until later on in the semester and since she barely had the chance to even be in class this year since all of the Malivore drama, she literally had no idea who they were and what lengths they would stop at to make the Mikaelson's suffer.
Dropping to her knees beside Hayley, she started to try and get rid of the binds that held the woman to the chair. Noticing the gentle hands and mutters of a young voice, Hayley looked up and felt utter fear and dread fill her once she recognised Georgie Lockwood sitting in front of her, looking exactly the same as she had when she had grabbed that golf club a year prior and disappeared in a flash of green light.
"Georgie," Hayley murmured, the pain in her voice as she looked at the girl she had taken to knowing as her niece over the year. They knew that they couldn't interact with the girl until she was older and found them herself or there could be unseen consequences, Hayley hadn't expected to see her so soon. "You can't be here."
"Yeah, seems like the Time Keeper isn't giving me a choice," Georgie muttered, her eyes closing yellow as she hissed at the wolfsbane that covered the ropes. She went back to touch them again, trying to grunt her teeth together and ignoring the burning in her hands as she tried to move the ropes. "I'm not leaving without you."
"Seems like you'll be here a while then," a voice called out, Hayley's eyes going yellow as she growled loudly, feeling utterly hopeless as Georgie spun around to look at the suited vampire that had just killed her husband without a second of thought. "And who might you be?"
Georgie stood up promptly, ignoring the tremble in her body as she turned to face the man. She could feel the power radiating off of him, and she could smell Jackson's blood on his hand even though he had cleaned it off since killing him. This man was out for blood - and Georgie knew that she had to be very careful here if she ever wanted to return to her friends again. Taking a deep breath as she thought about the best plan of attack here, she held her head high as she looked at him with glowing yellow eyes.
"Georgie Mikaelson," she said, knowing that the name would have a higher importance to someone who was clearly trying to goad out the Original family by using Jackson's death and Hayley's kidnapping. She heard Hayley's mumbles of protests from behind her, but it was apparent that the wolfsbane and vervain in her system was stopping the woman from being able to try and help. "And I assume you're trying to get my family here, so why don't you let Hayley go and use me as bait instead?"
Georgie knew this was utterly stupid. But she knew that if anyone was able to save her it would be the entire Mikaelson family working together - and she knew they couldn't focus on saving her and Hayley at the same time. She didn't know how much had changed since she had last seen the family, but she knew that always and forever meant a lot to them all regardless of time.
The man moved forward with a sudden interest, noticing the bracelet that glinted off her wrist and holding her arm up with such force that Georgie screamed out as her bone snapped. She could feel it attempting to heal itself, but the grip on her arm was so tight that even her wolf healing wasn't able to fix it until he let go. He hissed as the bracelet burned his skin, raising his eyes at the vervain object on her. He had seen that bracelet before - funnily enough on the one Mikaelson he had been very sure was dead.
"Now, why would I do that?" Tristan asked, the veins under his eyes growing and his eyes turning back as he suffered the pain of the vervain and ripped the bracelet from her wrist without a second thought. "When I can use you both?"
Georgie didn't even have the chance to scream before his fangs were in her neck.
___
"If you touch a hair on her head-" Tristan said down the phone ten minutes later when he found out his sister, Aurora had been captured by Elijah and Klaus to try and convince the leader of the Strix to return their hybrid friends to them.
They had been on their way to try and intercept Aurora when Freya had called to inform them that another 'gift' had been delivered to the compound - this time it was that bracelet that a year prior had stopped them from killing Georgie as they realised who she was. Freya said that it had traces of the teenager on the bracelet, making her believe that she had somehow ended up in this mess too - surprising since she had been so sure that when she grabbed the golf club that she would end up back in 2028.
"I'll do my very best to restrain my brother Tristan, but we both know he can be impossibly savage when he wants to be," Elijah replied, a smugness to his tone as Klaus closed the container behind them.
"State your terms," Tristan said, knowing that his sister was his life.
"You will meet us at Patrick's Dock, the warehouse. We exchange Aurora for Hayley, Georgie and the Serratura. Oh Tristan, I would make it snappy unless you want Niklaus to eviscerate that poor girl."
Tristan hung up as he turned to look at Aya and Marcel, giving them orders immediately. He was boiling with rage and was infuriated that his advantage of having two hostages didn't seem to be doing much to deter the Mikaelson brothers from coming at him full force.
"Go and retrieve those filthy curs," he told them both. "Double the dose of wolfsbane, make sure they both suffer."
____
Georgie wasn't entirely aware of her surroundings as the hands that gripped her arms held her up, only knowing that Hayley was in chains beside her and much more heavily dosed up on wolfsbane than herself. While it had hurt her to see Marcel was working with the Strix, she knew from the little history that she did know that he would eventually make up with her family at some point - even if it would take years.
Besides, he had been the one to tell the other vampires that she couldn't handle as much wolfsbane in her system as Hayley since she wasn't a full hybrid yet. If they were confused about how Marcel seemed to know of the girl, they didn't voice it.
"Gentlemen," Tristan started as he looked at Elijah and Klaus. "I wish I could say it was a pleasure."
"Marcellus, made your bed with the enemy I see," Klaus said across the room, looking at him with disgust.
"Membership has its privileges."
"Let's get on with this, shall we?" Klaus said, trying to hide the nerves in his stomach for not only Hayley but his niece too. He was pretty aware that the Strix didn't know what relationship Georgie had with them all minus the fact she had obviously been outed as a Mikaelson from the letter Freya had received. He wanted to keep it that way.
Klaus tried to remain stoic as the crowd of vampires parted and dropped a chained Hayley and a bloodied Georgie on the ground, Hayley falling to her knees with a little more grace than Georgie who hit the ground with a thud. Elijah looked at them in heavy concern, while Klaus tried to conceal the fury that was burning in his chest. He could see the puncture wounds on Georgie's neck and the blood that smeared around it told him all he needed to know - his niece had been harmed.
"Hayley Marshall Kenner and Georgie Mikaelson, only slightly worse for wear. You'll have to forgive Hayley if she seems a bit off, there's enough wolfsbane in her system to kill an entire pack. As for the little wolf, I assume she's still regenerating some blood since she seemed to have lost quite a lot. However, here they are as requested. Now, where's my sister?"
Georgie barely was conscious as Klaus, Elijah and their friend Cami worked together to trap Tristan in the storage unit. She was barely conscious as Elijah helped Hayley to her feet, the two vampires then helping to keep Georgie standing. She was barely conscious as the rest of the vampires retreated with Marcel's suggestion to Aya, and she was barely conscious as Klaus swooped her from the ground and into his arms just before they went to leave the warehouse.
"I'll get out of here one day, and I'll come back for you all. Starting with the little wolf," Tristan growled to Klaus, Elijah, Hayley and Georgie who was being held up still by Klaus.
Georgie looked up as his eyes fell on her, rolling her eyes weakly as she muttered in his direction.
"I don't even know who you are."
Klaus smiled at that, knowing that while it was good to hear that she wasn't bothered by his threats, it also meant that Tristan obviously wasn't around in her time. If his daughter's future roommate didn't know anything about the man in front of them, then it was likely Hope was safe from him.
"Wait," Hayley called out just before Klaus could use his foot to shut the door, Georgie cradled to his chest with little effort as he held one hand to his niece's mouth and poured some of his blood down her throat to help heal her. "You took a very good man from this world. He will be with me forever but you, you will be forgotten and as you rot in the ocean, remember my face. Cause it's gonna be the last one you'll ever see."
____
Their drive back to the Mikaelson house was quiet, Georgie snoring lightly away from where she had fallen asleep on Klaus' shoulder in the back seat of the car. Klaus tried to act like he was displeased with the sleeping teenager on his shoulder, but Elijah and Hayley could see right through his act. He was just glad his niece was alright and healed up nicely.
Just as they pulled up to the garage, Georgie woke up as Hayley squinted her eyes at an object propped up against the side wall. She pointed to it in confusion, looking back to where Georgie was rubbing her eyes.
"Think that means it's time for you to go again?"
"Yeah," Georgie muttered, a little dread in her stomach as she looked at the golf club. "What pompous monster chooses golf to torment people?"
"Before you go," Elijah said, holding out his hand and holding up the bracelet that Freya had just given them as she entered the room. "I think you need this back. Hopefully, we'll see you soon."
Georgie felt a little guilt in her chest at the words, knowing that if this golf club took her back, she wouldn't be seeing any of the trio she had spent the car journey with again. She nodded, smiling back at them with a see you later before her hand connected with the golf club and disappeared in a flash of green light once more.
___
The second time she touched the golf club, she was ready to scream. She knew she wasn't back in Mystic Falls yet again, and yet again she couldn't help but feel furious. This time however, the man in the golfing attire was standing with his arms crossed around his chest with a smirk as his glowing green eyes connected with her yellow werewolf eyes.
"Now, now," he spoke, his voice light and full of joy. "I wouldn't go trying to kill me if I was you, this is our last stop before we can go home. Wouldn't want to ruin your chances so close to the end, would you?"
Just as Georgie lunged for the man, he disappeared in a cloud of green smoke. Her four paws hit the ground with a disappointment, the girl now realising that she had shredded her clothes and couldn't exactly walk around New Orleans naked. As the thought crossed her mind, she realised that she wasn't actually sure if they were in New Orleans.
The trees that surrounded her certainly did not look like the Bayou at all, and the air smelt different than it had in New Orleans. Georgie huffed a large wolf sigh, although she would admit if asked that it felt good to be back in her wolf form after what had felt like the longest day of her life. Hearing a buzz of voices in the distance, the wolf took off towards where the forest seemed to thin a little, noticing a large white house in the clearing of trees.
"We're not going anywhere today. I want one day of peace with my daughter before we uproot her," a familiar voice hit her ears, the wolf slowing to a quiet walk as she reached the forest line. Sitting down on her back legs, Georgie's ears flickered forward as she let her eyes tune in on the family that were all standing on the porch of the house.
"Any delay is a risk." That was Freya.
"One day. We never got to have one day of peace with Astrid before she died, we deserve this. I deserve this. We're in the middle of nowhere, the house is cloaked, we weren't following and I'M NOT ASKING!" Klaus erupted, making Georgie realise that a lot of time must have passed since she had seen them last. It must have been at least three years, since her mother had given birth to her before dying. Her stomach did clench at the concept but she stayed where she was, watching and unmoving at the tree line. It surprised her that Kol seemed to know about her mother being alive, so she assumed that he had been filled in on the whole 'secret niece' thing.
Her ears perked up again as the front door to the house opened, noticing that Hayley was holding a little girl's hand as they both entered the porch area. Georgie's tail wagged for a second as she realised it was a young Hope, recognising her from the photos on her sideboard. She knew it was too risky to be human around young Hope or it would have large consequences for her future, and while she wished to have grown up with the family she knew that it was too dangerous to make huge changes to this timeline - she had no idea what it might do.
"Everybody, look whose awake."
"Hello," the soft voice of young Hope said as she looked up at Klaus whose heartbeat Georgie could hear from where she sat in the distance. She was glad the family hadn't noticed her yet, knowing they were too amused by the scene in front of them.
"Hello."
"Mom, can I go play in the garden?"Hope asked, her eyes having noticed Georgie unlike the others. The wolf tilted its head to the side, not sure why the girl was wanting to come over and see her instead of running into her fathers arms.
"Yeah sure," Hayley said, patting the girl's head as she took off into the garden. Everyone turned around as they watched her go down the steps, giggling as she took off towards the edge of the forest.
There was a moment of silence as Klaus turned back around to look at Hayley, confusion and a little pain written across his face as the reunion that he had expected to have with his daughter was nowhere like the one that just happened. He furrowed his eyebrows, wanting to accuse her of something or say something but it was the sudden movement of his siblings that caused him and Hayley to panic for a second.
"Hayley, you didn't happen to get a rather large dog, did you?" Kol asked, his voice tense as the siblings all rose to their feet, noticing the large wolf sitting by the forest line that Hope had just reached. Hearing the words, Georgie looked up across to the siblings who all started to move towards her, knowing that they hadn't seen her in this form before.
Walking forward to meet Hope so that she didn't cross the spell that cloaked the house, Georgie passed through the boundary without any issues. Lying down as Hope got nearer, the siblings all slowed a little upon noticing that the wolf with yellow eyes clearly had no intentions of hurting Hope. Klaus sniggered a little, Elijah and Rebekah trying to hide their smiles as well as they looked at the wolf.
"What?" Freya and Kol asked at the same time, Hayley also looking confused on why the three siblings were no longer as panicked as the rest of them.
"You never got to witness our sister in her wolf form," Rebekah told the others, looking across at where Hope was patting the wolf on the head. "She looked just like that."
"I knew a wolf that looked just like that too," Hayley murmured, realisation crossing her mind as a small smile fell on her lips too. "Tyler Lockwood."
The Mikaelson's all smiled as Hope played with the wolf, tugging at its tail lightly and chasing it around in circles with light giggles and laughs. For a moment on the porch, Georgie knew that this was her family - regardless of the argument she had had with Hope, regardless of the argument she had had with Josie.
She was a Mikaelson.
_____
Georgie was grateful that this time she wasn't about to be kidnapped or doped up on wolfsbane or used as a blood bag. Her third and final time travel experience thankfully was looking to be a positive one, something that she hadn't expected when the Time Keeper had dropped her off and waited around long enough to promise it was the last time.
Thankfully since Hope had gotten pretty worn out from the day she had, she was asleep before 6:30pm hit the clock. Just like clock-work, as soon as Hope's eyes shut Hayley was down stairs and on the porch with fresh clothes, sitting them down in front of the wolf who had been lying on the white wood waiting for the girl to go to sleep. The family had realised pretty quickly that she wasn't going to change back in front of Hope, but it surprised them how much self control she had. Hayley had been doing this hybrid thing for years and didn't have the control that Georgie did.
"Pretty good control, you've got there," Hayley said as Georgie finally entered the kitchen, the entire family rising to their feet as they noticed the girl that was smiling at them. "Impressive."
"Learnt everything I know from the best," Georgie replied, purposefully being vague about who taught her the control. She'd already let too much slip in her three previous experiences and she knew that revealing that Hope activated her werewolf gene was just too much for them all to know. "It's good to see you all together."
"I would say it's good to see you after all this time, but you haven't aged a day," Hayley joked, pulling the girl in for a hug. Georgie smiled before pulling back, looking down at the new clothes that she had been given. At least she wasn't wearing the same thing this time.
"Yeah, well for me it was only a few hours ago that I was watching you guys take down Tristan," Georgie said before noticing how they all looked at Kol. She hadn't even remembered for a moment that they had never met, since she had already met the man in his future.
"It's good to see you again, Kol," she said, watching as the man got confused and tried to figure out what she meant. She smirked a little, wondering if that was what she looked like when he had muddled up his words when she had met them before - and suddenly that entire New Orleans trip made more sense to her. Everyone had been weird around her because they didn't want her to know that she had met them in this strange time loop before.
And when Georgie grabbed on to the golf club that appeared on the porch at midnight, she knew that whatever happened next, at least she would know where she belonged - with her friends.
