Anthony Lockwood- Ghost Locked (ANGST)

A/n I only kind of edited this and I wrote it in about an hour, more editing will come I promise, but I really wanted to get this out there.

Reader pov

"Anthony, I don't have a very good feeling about this." I say as I make a circle with our iron filings.

"What? It's only a type one. We should be out of here almost as soon as the sun sets, there's nothing to worry about." He flashes me a signature smile as he stirs his tea. We have about an hour until the sun fully sets, so as of now we're just preparing.

"I know I just... Well I don't know. We know older people don't give the most reliable descriptions a lot of the time. And there's just something about this place..." I put the remaining filings in a duffle bag.

"I did plenty of research on this house as well as the surrounding area." George reassures. "There's absolutely nothing that happened here other than the complaints by the two elderly people who live here. Chances are, there's a stray cat and that's what's making the noise."

"We get paid either way." Lucy takes out a chain and lays it over the filings circle. "Easy money."

"Right..." I fiddle with my necklace. It was a gift from Anthony about two months ago. No special reason, he just saw it in a shop and said it reminded him of me.

"Here, sit down I'll make you some tea to calm your nerves." Anthony pulls out a chair and gets another mug.

I sit down and put my head in my hands. "I just... I don't know. This place feels... Off... I can't explain it..."

Lucy fidgets a little. "Can you describe the feeling?"

I think for a moment before shaking my head. "Just a lot of nerves. And it's such a big house... We probably wouldn't even be able to hear each other if we split up."

Anthony places a cup of tea in front of me, "there, just the way you like it."

"Thank you..." I took a sip to try to calm down, but the feeling didn't leave. "It's probably just because of the paper this morning. All those Fittes agents... How many were there, ten?"

"Eleven." Anthony set his cup in the sink. "But that was a much more powerful visitor, and probably multiple visitors all at once."

"Still..." I took another sip and sighed. "I'm sure it's just that messing with me. I'll compose myself by sundown."

*************

"Well, I think it's safe to say it really was just some stray cat or something." Anthony begins packing up the equipment. "It's already midnight and there's been no sign of-"

Three doors slam all at once.

"Anthony, you make it incredibly too easy for the universe to say sike."

"Shut up." He draws his rapier. "Perhaps it's just the wind, or maybe-"

"Lockwood," Lucy says, her rapier also drawn, "I hear something..."

Everyone stays silent for a moment.

"Well? What is it?" George urges.

"I'm not sure... Screaming, laughing... Singing? Oh... Oh wow... That's violent-"

"What? What's violent?"

"There's a voice... A man... He's screaming and begging someone to spare him. I- oh god- it- that sounds like a saw... And a drill! More screaming I-" She looks at me. "You might have been right about this one."

Before anyone had time to make any decision or say anything, the visitor appeared right in the middle of the corridor.

"Alright, Lucy, George, go find the source! (Y/n) and I will hold him off!"

Lucy and George ran down the stairs, following whatever it was Lucy was hearing.

"Follow plan G!" Anthony ran towards the visitor with his rapier.

Plan G? What the hell is plan G?! Too many plans, Lockwood!

The cloudy figure screamed and barreled in our direction. Lockwood barely managed to duck out of the way and I just swung my rapier until I hit it. It disappeared for a moment, but we knew that was only temporary.

"Anthony, are you okay?" I rush over to him and help him up.

"Ah... Yeah... I hit my head a bit but nothing too major, it'll only be a bump." He used his free hand to gingerly touch his forehead. "Well done by the way. Way to think fast."

I stepped back a few steps. "I wouldn't call swinging my rapier with next to no aim in a fit of mild panic thinking fast."

"Whatever works."

I was about to say something before I saw the cloudy figure again. "Anthony behind you!"

He whipped around, but a second too late. The visitor came at him screaming and going full speed. He ducked down to grab his rapier but in bringing it up to a defensive position, he sliced his own hand pretty bad. I never heard him swear so much in one breath before. He dropped his rapier and held his wrist to try and stop the blood flow and probably in an attempt to stop the pain as well.

"Anthony!" The ghost wasn't allowing us any time for these kind of detours. "Hey you!" I threw my rapier at it so it would come towards me and leave Anthony alone. It worked. The figure of a man hurled at me.

I have no rapier, I didn't think this through-

"(Y/n)!" Anthony slid his rapier across the floor with his uninjured hand. Although, the ghost seemed to think this was his way of attacking it, so it abandoned me and went right back to Anthony.

"Watch out!" I ran at the visitor but not before he had knocked Anthony down a second time, effectively rendering him unconscious.

I tried to slice through the visitor, but the weight of Anthony's rapier was much different from my own and I was unsuccessful, only making it angrier. I ran to the other end of the corridor to lure him away from Anthony, but it didn't seem to work. He only flew over his unconscious body and into the next room farthest from me before making a slower return. I ran in front of Anthony and held the rapier in a defensive stance. Only, now it seemed much more difficult to hold it up, or even to hold my own body weight.

It must have been the different weight balance of the blade, or maybe I was fatigued. My knees gave way and I knelt on the floor. I dropped my arms to my sides as my vision started to go black.

Shit.

The next thing I knew, all I could see was darkness. I couldn't feel anything. I only heard faint whispers I can only nassume belong to spirits.

And that was it.

Lockwood POV

Oh, god my head aches...

Hey... No noise.

That's usually a good sign.

I open my eyes. "Well, would you look at that. I'm not dead." I sit up and look around and see (y/n) kneeling there facing away from me and towards the room at the end of the corridor. "Is he gone?"

No response.

"Are you angry with me?" I stand, holding my head in my hand, and walk closer to them. "I'm sorry, you were right. We should have left when you got such a bad feeling."

Still nothing.

"(Y/n), please talk to me I really am sorry."

Silence.

"(Y/n), I- oh god..." I step in front of them. "Oh my god. No please. Not you. Please not you, anyone but you oh god!" I shake them.

My worst nightmare was right in front of my eyes. (Y/n)'s gorgeous eyes now had a milky pale blue film over them. Just two blank circles where the windows to their soul once were.

I let out a gut wrenching scream. "GEORGE! LUCY! GEORGE! Lucy..." I just break down sobbing right then and there. My arms were wrapped loosely around (Y/n). I don't remember when I got on the floor or when I started hugging them, but I burried my face in their shoulder.

I don't know how long I stayed like that, but eventually I kissed their forehead several times, still crying, and begged them just to wake up in the weakest voice I've ever heard myself speak in.

"Lockwood! We found the source, are you two- oh my god..."

"George get an ambulance! Call DEPRAC! Call someone! Anyone! Please-"

"Lockwood..." He came over to me to see (Y/n) for himself. "Lockwood, they... They're gone... It's too late..."

"NO IT'S NOT! SHUT UP! THEY AREN'T GONE! CALL AN AMBULANCE!"

Lucy came running up the stairs "what's going on?"

"(Y/n) is... Uh... Ghostlocked..." George's voice cracks and he sniffs.

"What?!"

"No they're not! George shut up and call an ambulance right now! They'll be okay we just have to get them to a hospital!"

George goes off to where we had located the phone earlier. Lucy hesitantly walks over and quietly gasps when she's sees them.

"Oh, Lockwood..."

"They're okay... They'll be okay..."

"Lockwood..."

I look at her and the look in her eyes tells me what I already knew; (Y/n) is gone. They're never coming back.

"Why wasn't it me...?"

"Lockwood-"

"It should have been me this is all my fault if I had just listened to them or been more careful or-"

"Lockwood you had no way to know-"

"Lucy you don't understand-"

"Yes I do. I lost someone who I loved dearly to the same fate."

"Love? No, you've got it all wrong-"

"Lockwood, they might have been oblivious, but I'm not. I saw how you lit up when they would use your first name. I know where that necklace came from and I know you couldn't afford it but I also happened to notice a kettle, several of your gossip magazines, and the rapier holder in your room went missing around the same time as you gave it to them."

I opened my mouth before just closing it again.

"I saw how you would make tea for them and then tell George to make his own. That one time you used hair gel to give yourself a side part just to see if they'd say anything." She sniffs. "You love them."

Shit.

"You're right... But they'll never know."

"I like to think they can hear us."

"Do you really believe that?"

"I don't know... But I like to."

I nod. "Can I... Have a moment alone?"

She nods, giving me a light but firm squeeze before getting up and going to find George.

I spend several moments just looking at them, never stopping the flow of tears. I kiss their temple. "I'll dedicate the rest of my life to getting you out of this. I promise you."
