What A Simple Matter Can Lead To
(A/N: I have no clue what I'm doing... I was at book club, and a Lockwood and Co. book was one of the choices, so I took one. I'm now obsessed with it... Oops... And I now ship Locklyle... What am I doing with my life?... I'm also going to refrence to the show Chowder, created by C.H. Greenblatt. Oh, and character's thoughts will from now on be in italics, and I might try to update every Sunday, eastern time. Anyways, happy reading!)
Disclaimer: No, I am not Jonathan Stroud. If I was, I would be working on The Creeping Shadow, not these locklyle fanfictions. I do not own Chowder, either, if I did, I would be... What would I be doing? Chowder already ended.
"LOCKWOOD!!! Lucy screamed.
UH-OH! IS SHE OKAY? I HOPE SHE'S NOT HURT! Lockwood thought frantically. Wait... Why don't I just ask what's wrong... He thought again, calming himself down.
"Are you okay, Lucy?" He replied as calmly as possible.
"NO, I COULD REALLY USE SOME HELP RIGHT ABOUT NOW!" Lucy yelled.
Running upstairs as fast as possible, Lockwood headed towards Lucy's bedroom, hoping that she would be alright.
"I don't see a problem..." He said, slightly relived.
"HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE THE PROBLEM?" Lucy screeched.
"I still have no clue what you're talking about. All I see is a moth." Lockwood said calmly, still puzzled.
"EXACTLY!" Lucy said. "THAT'S THE PROBLEM! THERE IS A MOTH ON MY DOOR!
"...Luce, calm down. It won't hurt you. Really, how could a moth scare you, anyways? You've faced plenty of ghosts, and a moth is what scares you. Be rational."
"I DON'T CARE! GET IT AWAY FROM HERE! I WANNA GO INTO MY ROOM!"
"...okay Lucy, if I get rid of the moth for you, will you calm down?" Lockwood said, remaining calm.
"Yes, yes I will." Lucy said, finally not screaming.
Lockwood then proceeded to grab a jar capture the moth in it, and set it free outside. Lucy was stunned at his "amazing feat of bravery" and kept asking how he carried out this "hard task".
"How did you do that?" Lucy asked with a curious and astonished look on her face.
"Lucy, I literally just grabbed a jar, trapped the moth, and released it outside. It really wasn't that hard." Lockwood said, shrugging nonchalantly.
"Are you sure? Because the moth was really big and scary looking-"
"Lucy, the moth was not big and scary looking, it was a tiny little moth."
"If you say so..." Lucy said, not believing a single word he said.
"I do say so. It really wasn't that hard, Luce." Lockwood assured her.
"Okay, fine," she said. "I guess it wasn't that hard."
Lockwood then proceeded to give her one of those amazing gigawatt smiles of his that made her go slightly crazy on the inside.
I love his smile, Lucy thought to herself. They're always so... Perfect, like him.
Lucy sighed, thinking about how gorgeous his smile was, when he suddenly pulled her out of her thoughts.
"I thought you said that you were going into your room," Lockwood said "and that's the whole reason I had to get rid of the moth in the first place."
"Oh... I forgot what I was going in there for..."
Laughing a bit and smiling again, Lockwood then walked off.
That was cute, how she forgot what she was doing... And how she said it... And everything else about her... I need to clear my head... Lockwood thought, shaking his head as if to clear it.

Lucy was drawing hearts all over the thinking cloth at dinner.
"Earth to Lucy!" George snapped.
"What? What is so important that you need my undivided attention?" Lucy snapped back.
"Well, if you must know-" Lucy then cut George off.
"Well duh! Of course I must know! It must be really urgent or important or something for you to-"
"Lucy, George, shush." Lockwood said in a slightly harsh tone, but was relatively calm.
"Can I at least ask Lucy what I wanted to ask her?" George whined.
"Okay, sure." Lockwood replied.
"Lucy, you have a dazed look on your face and you've been drawing hearts all over the thinking cloth. Are you in love?"
Lockwood seemed uninterested up until George said the word 'love'.
"Well..." Lucy began, "I think I am, but, I've never properly liked someone, and so I don't know the feeling of being in love."
Lockwood was now fully engaged in the conversation.
"You haven't?" George said, amazed.
"No, not that I can remember. I think the closest that I have ever gotten to the feeling of love was-"
"Was when?" Lockwood interjected.
"I didn't know you were so interested in Lucy's love life." George said.
"Ummm... I'm not? I'm just... Now slightly more interested in this conversation? Yeah, that's right..." Lockwood murmered the last part.
"Yeah, right. We all... Well at least I know something that's obvious to everyone around you, but not to you or her." George gestured to Lucy.
"What are you talking about?" Lucy finally spoke up.
"Oh, nothing. Just one of the most obvious things I have ever seen!" George yelled.
"What?" Lucy and Lockwood yelled together.
"YOU TWO LIKE EACH OTHER, DON'T YOU?" George had lost his temper by now.
"OF COURSE I LIKE LOCKWOOD, WHO DOESN'T? HE'S PERFECT!" Lucy screamed.
"WHY THANK YOU, I LIKE YOU TOO, LUCY! YOU'RE THE MOST AMAZING PERSON I HAVE EVER MET!" Lockwood yelled back.
"SEE? I TOLD YOU! IT WAS OBVIOUS! HOW COULD YOU TWO NOT SEE IT?"
"I DON'T KNOW! IF YOU'RE SO SMART, TELL ME YOURSELF!" Lucy screeched back.
"WHY ARE WE STILL YELLING AT EACH OTHER? THIS IS UNNESSASARY AND EXCESSIVE! SHOULDN'T WE JUST STOP AND HAVE A CIVILIZED CONVERSATION WITH EACH OTHER?" Lockwood yelled without realizing it.
"Okay," Lucy said, taking a deep breath, "We all now know that I like Lockwood and Lockwood likes me, so now what?"
"Isn't it obvious? You get together and become a couple." George said matter of factly.
"Lockwood, I have a different idea." Lucy whispered so that only he could hear.
"what it it?" Lockwood asked, whispering back.
"Let's get to know each other a bit more, first."

A few weeks later, Lockwood and Lucy had gotten to know each other better. They were both sitting in the library alone.
"Hey Lucy," Lockwood said nervously, "I have a question for you."
"What is it?" Lucy knew it has to be something nerve wracking, because Lockwood was showing signs of nervousness.
"Do you- well, it's okay if you don't, but- what I'm trying to say- what I mean is- Umm..." Lockwood could feel his cheeks begin to heat up. "Willyoubemygirlfriend?"
"I'm Sorry, I didn't catch that last part, could you repeat it?"
Lockwood took a deep breath, cheeks becoming increasingly hot, and tried again; "Lucy, will you be m-"
George walked into the room at that exact moment.
"Go on, don't mind me." George said, setting a bowl of popcorn on the table next to him.
"George," Lucy said calmly, "Get. Out." Lucy spoke in a harsh tone. "Unless you want me to remove you're will to live, because I can arrange that. I can also put an end to your misery." Lucy now had her sweet voice on again. "So I suggest that you go."
"Okay, okay, I'm going, I'm going!" George said, slightly alarmed.
George then scurried out of the room, leaving the bowl of popcorn on the table.
"Lockwood, before George rudely interrupted, you were saying something. What was it you wanted to ask me?" Lucy asked.
"Oh, um..." Lockwood muttered.
"Go on..." Lucy encouraged him.
Taking another deep breath and trying his hardest to seem relaxed, he tried again.
"Lucy, I really like you, and I was wondering if you would consider being my girlfriend." Lockwood sounded really unsure of himself by now. He was shaking slightly, and found his gossip magazine really interesting now.
Lucy was the combination of shocked and happy, to say the least.
YAYYYYYY!!!!!! HE FINALLY ASKED ME!!! Okay, now I just need to tell him yes without sounding like a crazy person.
"It's okay if you don't want to, Lucy. I'll be fine, just do what you want, whatever makes you happy." Lockwood said, still staring at a page in his gossip magazine.
"Did you really expect me to say-" Lucy was interrupted by Lockwood.
I know, I shouldn't have been so foolish to ask you, especially so early..." Lockwood muttered the last few words.
"LOCKWOOD, YOU IDIOT!" Lucy screamed at him.
"I'm sorry, Lucy..."
Lucy sighed. "What I was going to say was the complete opposite of what you just said. What I was going to say was that you're an idiot for even thinking that I would say no. Of course I'm going to say yes! Why would I not?"
"Well Lucy, there's quite a few reasons why you would say no..."
Suddenly laughing, Lucy replied, "That wasn't meant to be answered!"
"I love you too, Luce."
Lucy then walked over to Lockwood, sat down, and curled up on his lap.
"Can I come in yet?" George hollered through the door while knocking on it. "I've left my popcorn in there!"
"Good job, George. You've ruined the moment!" Lucy hollered back, suddenly alert.
"Just let him get his popcorn, if you don't, he might just knock the door down." Lockwood whispered.
"Has he ever actually done that?" Lucy said, slightly worried.
"He has been very close to it." Lockwood said.
"Should I get up, then?"
"No, unless you want to." Lockwood murmured.
"I'm way too comfortable to get up." Lucy whispered back.
"Well, can I come in? I really want my popcorn!" George whined.
"Fine George, you can come in." Lucy said, exasperated.
"YAY!!!" George yelled. "I'M COMING FOR YOU, POPCORN!!!"
Lucy and Lockwood tried to stifle their laughter, but to no avail.
"Hey! I can hear you two laughing!" George said, opening the door. "You two could really use some manne-" George stopped suddenly in his tracks, seeing Lucy calmly sitting in Lockwood's lap.
"I- wow... I really did ruin a moment..." George muttered.
"Yes, yes you did." Lucy said. "Now could you grab your precious popcorn and go?"
"Um, yeah, okay..." George said, still trying to register everything happening and walked out the door without shutting it.
"SHUT THE DOOR, WILL YOU?" Lucy yelled.
"Huh? Okay, whatever you say, Lucy." George muttered. George then absentmindedly walked back to shut the door.
"Thanks." Lucy said.
"Oh, you're welcome." George answered back absentmindedly.
"Now," Lockwood said, "where were we?"
Lucy then kissed his cheek curled back up into his lap, and fell asleep soon afterwards.
I'm really lucky to have her. Lockwood thought to himself, and soon fell asleep with Lucy still in his arms.
(A/N: Did I do good? I really hope that you enjoyed it! And remember, I'm going to try to update every Sunday, eastern time.)
