Karaoke Night

(A/N: Okay, this is basically the same plot as the one shot with Lucy singing- oh who am I kidding? All of these one shots have the same basic plot, with different scenarios! Well... Now you're probably thinking "Why did I waste my time reading the exact same plot over and over again?" Well, it's because I use different scenarios, and make George do different stuff that you can either laugh at or yell at him for... Either one, really. Anyways, this is sort of diffrent... You'll get it when you read it. This time, I'm going to use the song The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage by Panic! At the Disco and I'm going to hint at Doctor Who by Sydney Newman, C.E. Webber, and Donald Wilson. My author's notes are getting to become more of author's chapters... Oh well... Oopsies. Happy Reading!)

Disclaimer: I wish that I were Jonathan Stroud, but I'm not. I wish that I were a member of Panic! At the Disco, but I'm not that either. And yes, I wish I were a creator of Doctor Who, an actress would be cool too, but no, I'm not any of that. I'm not any of the above, all I am is a devoted fan, nothing else.

"Lockwood, I'm bored. We don't have a single case, and I've already done every chore imaginable!" Lucy moaned.

"Well, what do you want to do? Go shopping or something?" Lockwood asked.

"The curfew bell already rang and-"

"Lucy, we're agents. We don't need a curfew bell, we fight ghosts for a living!" Lockwood said.

"Well, I still don't feel like going out to buy anything. I've never been the type to go shopping for things or say 'Oh look! That is such a cute outfit! I really want to buy it!' Now have I? And who in their right mind would be running a shop at this hour? No one! " Lucy said.

"Well," George said, with crisps in his hand, "why don't we all do something together, like friends, not coworkers."

"Do you mean like game night or something?" Lucy asked, suddenly interested in what George had to say.

"Yes... I guess I do." George said.

"Well, I've always liked the idea of having game night or something similar, but I've never had one... At least..." Lockwood then trailed off, hoping someone would change the subject.

Lucy was the only one who saw fear, pain, regret and maybe even desperation flash through Lockwood's eyes for a split second, sensing something was wrong, and secretly telling herself to make a vow later to never ever be the cause of Lockwood's fear, pain, regret, or desperation.

"Well anyways," Lucy said, quickly switching the subject, "what would we do?"

"You mean what will we do, because we're definitely going to do this." George said.

"KARAOKE!" Lucy squealed. "Oh... Sorry.. Karaoke isn't a game..." Lucy muttered.

"Well, let's do it anyways. You seem excited about it." Lockwood said. "I'm not a very good singer though..."

"Well, I for one take pride in the way I sing." George said, smiling.

"I'm not good either, Lockwood, I just really like singing." Lucy said, trying to comfort him.

"Well, I for one take pride in the way I sing." George said smiling proudly.

"Of course you do, George." Lucy murmured.

"There's just one problem," Lockwood said, "I don't know many songs, and we don't even have karaoke machine."

"Well, that's okay, because we have radios." Lucy said matter of factly.

"What if we don't know the words?" Lockwood asked.

"Then we'll find a song you do know. And anyways, this isn't just for competition, it's for fun and bonding, too."

You better mean that as a hint to Lockwood, Lucy. George thought, giving Lucy a slight glare. It's getting to be quite tiring watching you two.

"Okay... I guess I'll try." Lockwood muttered.

"Great! Now, how about you, George?"

"Well, duh. I have a great voice." George said.

"Well then, that settles it. We're going to do karaoke." Lucy said, matter of factly.

"I'll go get the radio!" George said.

"Now you two can be alone together." George muttered.

"What?" Lucy and Lockwood said at the exact same time.

"NOTHING!" George said quickly. "I mean... Don't worry about it."

"Okay..." Lucy said, staring at him quizzically.

Well, now I'm here, alone with Lockwood... What do I do? Do I talk? Do I stay quiet? Do I run around in circles and scream? No. Don't do that, Lucy, don't do that. Lucy sighed. I guess I'll just- Lockwood then cut off her train of thoughts and started talking.

"So... Did you ever do anything like this at your house?" Lockwood asked.

"No. My mother only cared about making money. I was only close to one sister, anyways, so I guess it doesn't matter." Lucy replied, eyes flashing with fury one minute, the next, they were filled with a bitter sorrow.

"Oh... I'm sorry, Luce... I didn't mean to-"

"It's alright... Anyways, now I'm here, with you guys! And it's a lot better than being in my childhood home..." Lucy murmured the last part, saying it to herself more than Lockwood.

At that moment, George walked in with the radio.

"Okay, I'm back, and I have the radio... Are we going to do this or not?" George said, growing impatient.

"George, you've been standing there for about five to ten seconds!" Lucy exclaimed.

"Well, I think that's long enough, don't you?" George retorted.

Lockwood, however, was in his own little world of thoughts.

Maybe we should all just watch Doctor Who. Lockwood thought, second guessing the whole idea. Then we would be doing something together as friends, not coworkers... Right?... Yeah, we could just watch Doctor Who. It would be a lot easier than this!... But I'd rather see Lucy happy...

"Lockwood?" Lucy said, pulling him out of his thoughts.

"Yes?"

"Are you okay? You seem..." Lucy then trailed off, not wanting to say anything to upset him.

"I'm fine." Lockwood said, giving her one of his gorgeous, gigawatt smiles.

No wonder he likes smiley giraffes, he basically is one. Lucy thought, giggling.

Lockwood stared at her with complete confusion written all over his face.

"What's so funny?"

Lucy could barely get out any words, but finally managed to say something.

"Are you sure you're not secretly a smiley giraffe?" Lucy asked, still giggling.

"... What?"

"Well, you do smile a lot, and you're pretty tall..." Lucy said.

"Umm..." Lockwood muttered. "I'm pretty sure I'm not a smiley giraffe, or a giraffe of any kind, for that matter."

"Okay, if you say so..." Lucy said.

"Can we just get to some karaoke?" George moaned.

"Yes, yes we can, George." Lucy said. "Just set the radio down."

"Finally!" George cried, setting the radio down.

"I'll go first!" Lucy said with a tune of excitement as soon as george set the radio down. Lucy then found a song to sing.

Wow... Lockwood thought. Lucy can really sing. And I'm over here and I can't sing to save my life! We really should have just watched Doctor Who...

When Lucy was done, it was George's turn.

"George, it's your turn. Have fun showing off your 'beautiful voice'."

"I will have fun, thank you very much." George said.

Needless to say, when George finally found the 'perfect song' to sing, he sung it terribly.

"Wow..." Lucy muttered. "That should be comforting. You really can't do any worse that that!" Lucy exclaimed.

"Ah-hem, I can hear you. And the only reason my voice didn't sound good was because I didn't do any vocal warmups." George retorted.

"Yeah, yeah." Lucy said. "Lockwood... You ready?" Lucy asked.

"I think so..." Lockwood muttered.

"Go on, you'll be just fine." Lucy said, smiling.

"You're smile is really pretty..." Lockwood murmured.

"Aw... Thank you." Lucy said, blushing.

"Wait... What-" Lockwood said, not realizing that he had said that out loud.

"Lockwood, you said that out loud. That's how she knows." George said, matter of factly.

"Oh..." Lockwood said quietly.

Wow, I need to learn how to shut up! Lockwood thought.

"Well anyways, it's your turn. Now, all you need to do is find a song and sing to it." Lucy said. "Go on."

"O-okay..." Lockwood said, looking for a song he, hopefully, knew. He, finally, came across a song he knew.

YES! I KNOW THIS SONG! I CAN SING THIS!! Lockwood thought excitedly.

Lucy and George exchanged slightly worried glances.

"Found one!" Lockwood said.

"Good!" Lucy said, smiling. "Now just sing to it."

Okay Lockwood, you can do this. Lockwood thought to himself. Just. Sing.

"Sit tight, I'm gonna need you to keep time come on, just snap, snap, snap your fingers for me."

Lucy's mouth fell open.

"Lockwood-" Lucy began, only to be cut off by George.

"Shut up and let the man sing, Lucy!" George said.

"Fine." Lucy said quietly.

His voice is purely golden! Lucy thought to herself. What was he so afraid of? I can't imagine why he would ever think he was a terrible singer! He's not!

And now they both know why I was so afraid. Now they truly know how much of a terrible singer I am... But I guess that I'll just have to keep going, since I've already started... Lockwood thought.

"I aim to be your eyes, trophy boys, trophy wives."

Now here comes the hard part that I always mess up. Lockwood thought.

"Applause, applause! No, wait, wait, dear studio audience I've an announcement to make, it seem the artists these days are not who you think, so we'll pick back up on this on another page."

-------QUICK! JUMP INTO THE TARDIS SO THAT WE CAN SKIP THE REST OF THE SONG!-------

After Lockwood finished singing, Lucy was acting like an absolute fangirl on the inside.

His voice is amazing! I think my love for him has grown, if that's even possible...

"Lockwood!" Lucy said, getting up from the couch. "Your voice is-"

"Terrible? Yes, I know Lucy."

"NO! IT'S PERFECT! YOUR VOICE IS AMAZING!

"... Really?"

"Yes, really!" Lucy exclaimed.

"Oh... Well, thank you, Lucy." Lockwood said, blushing slightly.

--LET'S BE TIMELORDS FOR A MOMENT SO THAT WE CAN SKIP TO A FEW WEEKS LATER--

Weeks after Lockwood and Co.'s first karaoke night, Lockwood thought of the perfect way to ask Lucy out.

Okay Lockwood, just do exactly what you said you would and ask the girl of your dreams out. Lockwood thought. Hopefully, it'll be simple, and she'll either quickly accept or reject you.

Lockwood then went to knock on Lucy's bedroom door.

"Come in!" Lucy called.

Lockwood then entered her bedroom.

"Oh hi, Lockwood. What did you need?"

"Uh... I wanted to tell you something, but I couldn't find the right way to tell you. So instead of telling you, I wrote a song to sing to you." Lockwood said, feeling heat spread over his face.

"Umm... Okay? Go ahead, I'm listening." Lucy said.

Lockwood took a deep breath.

Okay... Let's do this and get this over with. Lockwood thought while pulling out a piece of paper.

"I-... I can't." Lockwood said, handing the paper over to Lucy. "You can read it..."

Lockwood then walked out of Lucy's room, feeling slightly embarrassed. Lucy then began to read the paper.

This is really good... Lucy tought. Oh... The last line... I sort of don't want to read it, since I'm enjoying this so much... Wait, he wanted to tell me something, so does that mean that he's talking about me in this song and including his feelings? Well, let's just finish reading this... 'And I love you.' Oh... Oh my goodness. That means... Wait, there's a little note at the bottom. 'Now ask Lucy out. Do it right now, before George comes in or something.' ... He likes me. He likes me back! I've got to go tell him yes!

"LOCKWOOD!" Lucy yelled.

Lockwood sighed. Great... Rejection time. He thought, walking back up to Lucy's bedroom.

"Yes, Lucy?" Lockwood said, ready for rejection.

"Yes!" Lucy squealed. "Yes, I'll go on a date with you!"

"Wha-" Lockwood began, but was then cut off by Lucy.

"This!" Lucy said, shoving the paper into Lockwood's face and pointing at the side note.

Then Lockwood remembered.

She actually said yes! Lockwood thought.

Lucy then kissed
on the cheek. Needless to say, they were both blushing quite a bit.

Then all of a sudden, George came in.

"I was wondering where you two wer-" George began, but then walked out as soon as he saw Lucy and Lockwood kissing.

I knew that this would happen at some point. George thought.

"Now I can add them to the list of people I've helped get into a relationshp." George muttered, walking into his room and doing just that.

(A/N: I think that I'm just making the characters more and more out of character with every word I write... Oops. And I imagine that they would still have karaoke night/game night every weekend, but maybe that's just because I'm weird... We may never know...)
