Chapter 7

●●●

Taehyung was hungry. Pretty damn hungry. He had eaten his own portion of the protein bar at some point throughout the day. No idea at what time exactly. It was really hard to tell how late it was with nothing like a clock to check.

Doing things with Jungkook was pretty fun and good at distracting him from his hunger, but it was really using up his energy reserves. But it wasn't just him. It was plain obvious that Jungkook was pretty damn hungry too. Although he was clearly trying not to let it show his eyes kept wandering down to Taehyung's neck.

Taehyung was honestly kind of surprised by the amount of self control Jungkook had. He knew that it had to be hard for the vampire. Maybe he should offer up his blood after all. It wasn't really something he was too comfortable doing but it was probably better than Jungkook losing his control when he got too hungry.

Everything would get a lot messier then.

"God, I'm tired." Jungkook dropped onto the mat, stretching his arms and legs away from his body as he panted. "This is a lot more exhausting when I'm thirsty."

"We probably really shouldn't use up all of our strength like that." Taehyung sat down as well before he decided to ask something. "You have any idea how long you're even able to function properly without blood?"

Jungkook looked at him, all sweaty and out of breath, before sighing. "No idea. The longest I have gone was two days... and that didn't go too well."

"How so?" Taehyung was genuinely curious. Now that they had... kind of made peace he was pretty curious about Jungkook. Maybe there was more to him than he had thought in the beginning.

"When I was about nine or ten I decided I wanted to try out what would happen if I didn't drink from a blood bag. I was so stupid but also really headstrong. After two days I wrestled for one of my toys with a guy in my class and his neck was right there in front of me and I just chomped down." He chuckled, but it didn't seem too funny. Jungkook's expression remained serious. "My teacher panicked, somehow got me off him and then called my parents. As you can imagine I was in big trouble."

Jungkook looked oddly uncomfortable talking about it even while he was telling it like it was a funny story.

"We ended up moving away from there because of that. That's how I ended up in Seoul, actually. We were living in Busan before, but people get really intense when a vampire bites someone without permission. We had child protection services breathing down our necks for quite some time after that... making sure my parents were raising me right." Jungkook grimaced. "This story sucks. It gets too annoying."

Taehyung shook his head. "It's pretty interesting, honestly. Are they always this careful with vampires?"

Jungkook nodded. "Those who are registered at least. Most of the vampires that end up in the news because they have done some shit are unregistered. It's not even humans that are that... careful. It's other vampires because they don't want the gap between us and humans to get worse. Things are already not looking that great as they are currently."

"Are they?" Taehyung certainly wasn't well informed on the whole vampire human spectacle. For the most part he just avoided it.

"It's been worse, but it has also been better." Jungkook stated, his eyes flashing red once again. "Humans aren't fond of vampires. They tolerate them, but that's about as far as it goes."

There really wasn't anything Taehyung could say to that. He was just like that. Tolerate, but certainly not accept. "I don't really know what to say."

"There isn't much to be said about it. It makes sense. Of course humans are wary of vampires. You're literally food to us." Jungkook chuckled weakly. "Even right now I can hear your heart beating and it makes me even hungrier. It's bad." Once again Jungkook's eyes flashed, but this time they stayed red. After a couple of seconds of staring Jungkook dropped his head, rubbing his eyes. "It's really messing with my head."

To Taehyung's surprise his eyes were back to normal when he looked back up again.

"Should I give you the second protein bar?" Taehyung offered, but Jungkook shook his head.

"No, keep that. It hardly helps for me anyways... I'll just have to endure a bit longer. Just one day." he shook his head, shivering. He certainly didn't seem too well. It was only then that Taehyung noticed Jungkook's chapped lips. They had never been like that. Taehyung had never seen him with so much as a hair falling the wrong way. Probably one of the pros of being a vampire.

But right now Jungkook looked genuinely exhausted. Like he was running out of strength. And while Taehyung was hungry too he just knew that the hunger he was feeling right now could in no way compare to what Jungkook was feeling.

He took a deep breath, unsure how to proceed because what he was considering offering to Jungkook was not something he would offer in any normal situation. Even right now he really didn't feel comfortable with the thought of it.

"Ahhhh I'm tired." Jungkook dropped back onto his back, stretching his arms away from his body, yawning loudly. Should Taehyung do it? This whole time they had been locked inside of here Jungkook had been nothing but nice. It had actually been quite fun. And Jungkook had given him his hoodie... and the whole cuddling disaster Taehyung wasn't willing to think about had happened.

It wasn't like he had another choice. They would have to stay in here at least for one more day... the chances of Jungkook losing himself because of hunger in that time was pretty high and then it wouldn't happen on Taehyung's terms.

He made his decision, though he wasn't happy with it.

"Jungkook."

The boy sat up, looking at him with furrowed brows. "Why do you look so serious? You're saying my name like I have done something wrong." He brought his arms up and wrapped them around himself. "Scary."

With an amused smile tugging at his lips Taehyung shook his head. "No. You haven't done anything wrong." He took a deep breath. "I'm willing to let you drink from me. But on one condition."

Jungkook just stared at him, his eyes almost instantly changing color as he sat there completely unmoving, his hands holding onto the mats a bit too tightly. "Why? Why would you let me drink from you?"

God, it sounded even worse coming from Jungkook's mouth. Taehyung was already regretting his decision.

"Because we don't have much of a choice. The chances of me leaving here without you drinking from me are really low. Let's be real. And if I get to pick between having a choice and being forced I'd rather decide on my own. And as I said... I have a condition." He declared. Jungkook was still way too tense. His body looked like he was ready to jump any second.

"What's the condition? No bite without marriage so we have to get married?" Jungkook joked to ease the tension, but it didn't do much. His fangs were plain visible when he was talking. Long and sharp. Taehyung really wasn't too happy about this.

"No venom. Non at all. I know it's supposed to make it more pleasurable, but if you use any I swear I will kill you." he warned, his heart beating anxiously in his chest. He was so fucking nervous.

Jungkook furrowed his brows. "It will hurt like hell without. A vampire's bite is not pleasant."

Taehyung nodded. "I know. I don't care. That's my condition."

Slowly Jungkook climbed off the pile before sitting down in front of Taehyung. He was clearly hungry. It was obvious with how his eyes kept wandering down to Taehyung's neck, but he put an effort into looking at Taehyung's eyes instead, which Taehyung was grateful for. Jungkook really seemed like a decent guy now.

"Are you really sure? I think I could manage. It's not easy, but I can survive until Monday." Jungkook's smile was oddly... calming. It made Taehyung feel more confident in the decision to trust Jungkook enough to let him drink from him.

"No, it's alright. That way you won't have to be so on edge anymore and I can stop worrying that you might lose control and just sleep the rest of the time we're locked in here." Taehyung stated, forcing himself to relax. It was going to be over again soon.

Jungkook still looked a bit hesitant. "I'm not sure how to feel about this."

"Let's call it a sign of my willingness for us to maybe become friends." Taehyung chuckled before he reached out and ruffled Jungkook's hair. "Be fucking grateful though. I think it's not too hard to guess, but I'm usually not the type to do this." He pulled the hoodie off his shoulder and Jungkook's eyes instantly went there, staring at the juncture between his neck and shoulders Then he swallowed audibly.

Taehyung could feel a cold shiver run down his spine, but he forced himself to keep his cool. "What's... the most comfortable position to drink blood in?"

Jungkook forced himself to look away to think. "I think, going by less sexual positions... sitting like we were when we went to sleep yesterday."

Taehyung thought about how Jungkook's breath had felt on his neck. Yeah, that certainly was a good position. Though he wasn't to sure about the 'not sexual' part. "Yeah, okay." He moved a bit so Jungkook could sit down. Maybe the red eyes should have been unsettling but they weren't. Actually they were oddly attractive. Taehyung was totally not having these thoughts right now.

Jungkook sat down, closing his eyes for a second. "Wait a second. I need to focus for a moment." For a few seconds neither of them said anything, Jungkook massaging the bridge of his nose, slowly breathing in and out.

"I'd really prefer a blood bag right now. At least I can't actually hurt those." After another couple of seconds he gestured for Taehyung to sit down in front of him. To his surprise he spoke up again. "Are you really sure? Once I start I really won't be able to stop until at least some of the hunger is satisfied."

Taehyung nodded, ignoring his shaking hands. "It's alright. Try to make it as painless as you can."

Jungkook groaned. "You say that but you also won't let me use anything to soothe the pain."

"No venom." Taehyung repeated and Jungkook sighed, softly hitting his shoulder. "I know. I got the message. Just saying, you're making things awfully complicated." He pulled Taehyung back until he was completely leaning against Jungkook's chest. "Please relax as much as possible."

Taehyung nodded. "Will try."

Nothing happened and Taehyung wondered what Jungkook was doing. After what could have been ten seconds or even a minute he forced himself to release the breath he was holding and relaxed his shoulders, closing his eyes.

Then he finally felt Jungkook move behind him. Lean forwards. Suddenly there were lips against his neck. Lips that were most likely normally soft but now just felt rough and raw against his skin. He managed not to tense up again as Jungkook slowly moved over his neck, probably searching for the best spot to bite.

At the area under his ear Jungkook finally came to a stop, hovering his lips over the skin. "Sorry. This is really going to hurt." Before Taehyung could really prepare himself Jungkook's hand was suddenly on the other side of his neck, holding him in place, and then a sharp pain shot up his neck.

Taehyung's first instinct was to pull away, thrash around until the vampire would let him go but Jungkook was ridiculously strong and held him steady as he bit down even harder. Taehyung pressed his eyes closed, feeling tears prick at them. There was nothing he could do.

He knew vampire bites were supposed to hurt. At least when there were no painkillers involved. But he hadn't expected it to hurt this much. He felt like someone had dripped molten lava on his neck. It didn't feel like something small like Jungkook's fangs. Instead he felt like someone was slowly digging a blade into the skin of his neck.

It hurt so fucking much, but he couldn't do anything aside from letting it happen and hope it would be over soon. He forced himself to stop moving around so much. He could still feel Jungkook's fangs. Sharp and buried deeply into the skin of his neck.

Once he stopped struggling in Jungkook's arms, the hand that had been resting against his neck slowly went up to his head, almost reassuringly running through his hair. Taehyung took a deep breath, trying to calm down his racing heart. He wanted to focus on anything but the agonizing pain in his neck, so instead he forced his attention on Jungkook's hand.

It was weird how painful Jungkook's bite was, but how soft the touch on his head was as Jungkook ran his hand through Taehyung's hair with utmost care. Certainly didn't feel like both sensations were caused by the same person. The stinging almost mind numbing pain and the soothing sensation of a hand running through his hair.

Taehyung struggled for quite some time, the pain slowly fading into a weird thrumming as he felt his own heartbeat in his neck. After a while he could feel Jungkook pulled his fangs out of the wound, instead sucking on the breach in Taehyung's skin. The worst pain was over now... at least he hoped so.

Minutes passed and Taehyung was slowly starting to feel dizzy when Jungkook finally pulled away, licking over the wound one last time. As if on cue it stopped bleeding. Taehyung had that weird thought that maybe it did because there was not enough blood left in his body.

Jungkook dropped his head against Taehyung's shoulder, letting out a shuddering breath. "Fuck... I know it didn't feel like that for you but that was really good."

Taehyung chuckled weakly. "Yeah... certainly didn't for me."

"Thank you." Soothingly Jungkook rubbed Taehyung's shoulder. "Is there a reason why you didn't want me to use venom? I know it has a bit of a bad reputation, but once really isn't dangerous."

Taehyung sighed, unconsciously leaning more into the touch. He didn't feel strong enough to get up and distance himself from Jungkook right now. Much less wanted to. He was tired and being held was comforting.

"It's a bit... depressing."

"Tell me?" Jungkook's hand was still on his head and Taehyung felt oddly comfortable with the contact. For a second he wondered whether it was a bad idea to tell Jungkook, but he really didn't want to rack his brain too much. What bad was there in telling Jungkook?

"My mother... she started dating this guy. Big asshole. Vampire. Kept drinking from her. Got her addicted on purpose." He let out a breath, his mind feeling oddly hazy. Probably the blood loss. He tried to focus before he continued. "After a while he just disappeared. Probably found someone more interesting or got bored. My mum wasn't the same after that. She went crazy... so focused on getting a vampire to bite her. She wasn't in her right mind. Wasn't careful. Got mixed with the wrong crowd and of course it got worse."

Taehyung sighed when he felt Jungkook wrap his arms around him, soothingly rubbing his chest. He let it happen, closing his eyes, feeling oddly safe like that. Like he could open up to Jungkook. Maybe it was just his tired mind getting to him, but he didn't care. It felt good to talk about this...

"I was maybe... six? I was practically alone at home. And then my mother just disappeared. I was lucky my school got worried when I didn't show up. They called my grandparents and they found me in my mum's apartment, half starved. My mother turned up a month later. Found on some side street. She was alive but not really there. She hasn't been since then. I was living with my grandparents, who were taking care of both me and my mum until I was sixteen, and then I moved to Seoul because I couldn't stand the atmosphere there."

For a long time Jungkook didn't say anything, his hand still soothingly rubbing Taehyung's chest. Taehyung knew that it wasn't easy to say anything to that. There was nothing that could be said. Nothing that could undo it. It was the past. It wasn't changeable. The only reason Taehyung had told Jungkook was because he was feeling vulnerable. he had felt like he owed Jungkook some sort of explanation.

"I- I'm sorry that happened to you. Vampires like that deserve to rot." Jungkook whispered, pulling Taehyung closer and squeezing him. Taehyung was grateful for that. He was also grateful that he felt too tired to cry right now. Because there was no way he would allow himself to cry in front of Jungkook. The teasing would never end if that ever happened.

He slipped down, half lying between Jungkook's legs for the main part because it was frustrating him that he couldn't see Jungkook's face. "Thank you. And they do. I'm glad that there are vampires like you too."

Jungkook almost looked startled, furrowing his brows in confusion. "You don't mean that."

Taehyung chuckled tiredly. "For some reason I actually mean that. Don't ask my where that sudden positivity came from. I don't have a clue either."

"Wow. Can't believe I'd ever hear you say that." Jungkook grinned lazily and it was ridiculously attractive. His eyes were still glowing a bit, the only indicator of the fact that he had actually fed on him earlier. There wasn't a single drop of blood left on his lips.

"Wanna hear something else I'll only say because I literally feel drunk right now?"

Taking Jungkook cocking his eyebrow as a yes he reached out and poked his nose. "You're ridiculously hot right now."

For a couple of seconds Jungkook seemed genuinely taken aback before looking too damn smug for his own good. Taehyung instantly regretted saying that. "I think we messed up some of the order here. Usually I flirt with people, then hook up and then I drink their blood. Something isn't right." He grinned and Taehyung couldn't help but laugh.

"Fuck off. I wasn't flirting."

Jungkook's grin didn't disappear. It only got wider. "Really? You sure? So you'd be against kissing now? Because I might be down and while you do look really pale right now you're also hot."

Taehyung rolled his eyes. "You're just saying that because I'm too tired to move right now. Just admit that you like your partners weak and defenseless." He was obviously just teasing too. Even with how tired he was, it was fun.

"It might come as a surprise but that's not really my thing. I can have that any time, what's the appeal then? I actually like when someone puts up a bit of a fight and doesn't just go with everything."

"Hey, that means I'm perfect for you." Taehyung joked and Jungkook smiled again. "Who knows."

Taehyung wasn't sure what had happened. One second everything had been normal and then he felt Jungkook's lips on his. Not even long enough to leave much of a impression, just a short peck. Not that they could have done much more with an upside down kiss.

To Taehyung's surprise Jungkook looked almost embarrassed when they made eye contact again. Neither of them said anything for quite some time before Jungkook sighed. "Stop staring. You're making this worse and worse. I totally shouldn't have done that."

Even though he was tired and confused Taehyung shook his head. "No... I like that... I think. My brain is mush right now." He chuckled, dropping his head back. "I had no idea that losing blood is this... I don't know. Tiring. Whenever girls tell about it it's in an a way nicer context."

Hesitantly Jungkook brought his hands up again to run them through Taehyung's hair, apparently relaxing now that being rejected didn't seem to be too much of a threat. "It's not common to take as much as I did. Sorry. I was really hungry."

Taehyung nodded. "It's alright. I think I'll go to sleep now though. I can barely keep my eyes open as it is."

"Do that. I could keep you warm again... you might need it even more now with the blood loss." The vampire offered and Taehyung silently took the offer, lying down on his side and resting his head on Jungkook's thigh. Damn muscular kid. Even lying here made him kind of jealous.

"Just keep doing what you're doing. It's comfortable and this..." He pointed at Jungkook's hand. "...is pretty calming."

He didn't even get to hear Jungkook's answer, his eyes closing as he slowly drifted off. His mind numbing with the calming effect the vampire's hand had threading through his hair.
