ALLIYA ADLER
Name: Alliya "Alli" Adler
Age: 24
gender: female
sexuality: straight
face claim: Katherine Mcnamara
Personality:
Alli, for as long as she can remember, has been the sort of quirky, awkward, quiet girl. You know, the sort that starts telling a story and half way through realizes that nobody is listening so she nonchalantly stops talking. And even still, nobody notices. Yeah, that sort of awkward. She likes a whole lot of things, but doesn't consider herself super good at anything, either, but it doesn't mean she doesn't give it a darn good try. She totally feels like barfing when it comes to public speaking. Well, you get the picture! She's not miss popularity or miss do-it-all, and she's pretty sure she never will be. For forever, her fear of conflict has stopped her from sticking up for herself or causing any trouble. She'd sooner take on extra and meaningless responsibility before telling someone that they're not chipping in their fair share, but endlessly complain about it to her friends after denying it to be a problem at all. The bottom line is, she's got a good heart, and really hates to upset people...because it just aggravates her anxiety and awkward tendencies.
Truth be told, working at the prison made Alli grow something of a backbone. She's just a touch more likely to stick up for herself or what's right, because honestly, her co-workers have made her realize that she's actually not the only incredibly weird person in the world. In fact when it comes to that totem pole, she might even be toward the bottom, and she'd never experienced that before! Sure, old habits die hard. So she still avoids conflict at all costs. But when her buttons are pushed hard enough, she isn't afraid to give a little bite back and it feels...invigorating! She couldn't lie, she's gained a whole lot of other things from working there, too, like improvisational skills, and a pretty wicked sense of humor. She's fun, and helpful, and can be pretty compassionate to anyone she considers a friend.
Strengths:
empathetic, helpful, modest, silly, kind, hard working, girlish, smart
Weaknesses:
quiet, avoids conflict, pushover, quirky, awkward, timid, bottles emotions until exploding, emotional, overwhelmed
Likes:
writing, reading, going for walks, theater, collecting snow globes, greek mythology, going out with friends, stuffed animals, people who don't work her over, kind gestures of affection, being listened to, animals, animal biology, oddities (think Ripley's believe it or not), Sangria (favorite alcoholic drink)
Dislikes:
being involuntarily ignored, clowns, getting up late, being cold, tedious errands (there's bound to be a lot...), "The Simpsons", straight liquor shots, the copier that never works right, working late, season finales that end in a cliff hanger, confrontation, public speaking, cheaters, people who take advantage
Backstory:
Growing up in a household that was pretty well off, she found her way into a prep school - probably the ritziest of the surrounding schools. And although her parents expected great things from her? Well, she didn't quite fit in. She had a couple of friends, sure, but generally she remained pretty invisible. It was pretty hard to concentrate when mooches dumped all of their work on her always for school projects and group assignments. And as previously stated, she just let it go because it was less painful than sticking up for herself somehow. Needless to say, some of her other grades slipped, and without a doubt it started some arguments. Her mother seemed to take it as a major issue and her father stood up for her - but that's all she could hear from the staircase banister. They both wanted what was best for her, in their own ways of course. But eventually because of that a whole bunch of other things, they divorced. Truly, Alli's faith in love had been a bit broken...
It was to both of her parent's disappointment when Alli dropped out of college on the first try around. She was a biology major. Kinda felt like she dodged a bullet on that one later in life, but still, it was pretty crushing. It wasn't as if she didn't like the subject, but she started to wonder, where will this take me? Is it something I can happily do forever? Not to mention, when would she have time to just...live her like? To leave everything behind would definitely be scary...well, luckily she got her head on straight, took some classes on counseling others, and boom - a new career that she loves, ever finding the subject matter impressive.
As far as getting engaged, well, Alli would never admit it, but...she kind of sold her soul and heart to...the first guy who gave her any attention? Which means that he's not exactly her perfect match, as blind as she is to it. However, being a bit isolated from her family as of late, he's all she really has, and the thought of anything different is just...scary. But she's happy! Happy, right? Yes, of course...or not.
