Hello yes I am seeing so much misinformation about Kaito and it's making me mad so I have come here to explain why Kaito is a good person and stuff like that.

❝  Kaito is Homophobic ❞
Not even true how can he be homophobic when he is a bisexual king himself ? No that's a joke , I'm joking but here we go.

Kaito does live with his grandparents , correct ? The man lives with literal b o o m e r s , which could very much be the case , but of course I'm not saying it is.

2. The F-slur might not even be offensive in Japan , our cultures are different , it's the exact same thing with the word rat , it's not offensive here , but it's a racial slur in Japan.

3. This is either in the manga or in the actual Japanese dub , Kiyo told Kaito that the f-slur was an offensive slur , and Kaito did in fact apologize and then swore he wouldn't say it again.

4. It was a mistranslation so this whole section was useless but I just wanted to say it Smh.

I am not kidding when I've seen people hate him because of this , again , no one hated Kokichi , including Kaito , they all did find him annoying and generally did dislike him , but didn't hate him.

And even if he did , if you generally dislike a character based of their relationship and what they think about another character then I don't know what to think about you to be honest.

😶 No , he isn't sexist ??? Like he had no problem with Kaede being the leader in chapter one , and even refused to believe that Kaede was the culprit , stating the line. " Don't worry Kaede I'll clear your name ! " or something like that. Even if he was it would most likely be the fault of his grandparents. And Kaito is friends with Maki-

Y'all are seriously mad that he said this to Maki , an assassin , the only person with weapons at the time of him saying that. Kaito would have said that to a man too ,, pretty sure the only weapon this man believes in is his f i s t.

❝  Kaito killed Kokichi  ❞
I'm- Kokichi straight up black mailed Kaito into doing it , because if he hadn't Maki would have been the culprit , the only reason why Kokichi gave him the antidote is so Kaito could help him with his plan. Kaito did not kill him out of anger , spite , hatred or anything else , it was Kokichi's choice to die , not Kaito's , and Kaito was really hesitant to do it anyways.

To clear things up , I am NOT coming for anyone who likes or Kins Kokichi or sees kokichi as a comfort character ! I know what he did was for the great or good and I know he attempted to end the killing game. I know kokichi had good intentions ! So if you like him or kin him than you're totally valid !!

Now I can see why people dislike him for this , it's a sigh of toxic masculinity , but Kaito was angry at Shuichi to be acting as he did when Kaede passed her wish to him ( but of course he would be since the person who gave him just the slightest bit of confidence bad been killed right in front of him ) but wait. I'm pretty sure if Kaito hadn't done what he had done shuichi might of just killed himself ( due to him claiming that he wanted to kill himself multiple times ).

And the Mondo punched Makoto and quite literally knocked him out.
And Chiaki decked the shit out Akane.
( I forgot if she punched or slapped Akane )

❛ My general thoughts ❜
To be honest , I love Kaito , he is an amazing and complex character. Because

He actively went out of his way to help the most outcasted and broken people of his class to become more confident and happy , all while hiding his own  negative emotions and the fact that he was sick and quite literally dying to make sure everyone else was happy and positive. And he protected Maki because he knew she had a long life ahead of her and he didn't because he was dying.

❛  One more thing  ❜
I am not saying you can't like Kaito , cause you can ! If you think he's just generally annoying or he reminds you of someone or just any personal reason that is valid !

But do NOT attack anyone for liking Kaito , and don't reduce him down to " oh a homophobic piece of shit " especially when it's not even true because it ruins his character for everyone who does like him and does see him as a comfort character.
