Yokai can be anything , but lots of people think of them as demons.
So , Uzui basically calls her a Cat-Lady-Demon. It's just to annoy her , really.

Breath :  she masters the Lava breathing , which is a breathing technique deriving form the sun breathing , but only taught in the Shiro family.

Lava breathing first form : lava splash.
It's not deadly , but , it's only goal is to distract the demon with the pain of the attack.
Basically , it's small nips , but with the lava filled with Wisteria ashes ... Good luck demon , you won't die , but you shall suffer.

Lava breathing second form : explosif style.
Each time the blade will collide with something , it'll explode.
Can be useful in both beheading or dismembering a demon. It's easier.

Lava breathing third form : effusif flow.
Basically ,it's like third form of water breathing , but with lava.

Lava breathing fourth form : soot.
The katana will let go of some black , thick , and small cloud of wisteria's soot. It's just to suffocate the demon.
Although it can be dangerous for both the demon and the slayer.

Lava breathing fifth form : basalt.
It's not to attack. This technic is actually to protect.
It'll create a wall made out of basalt , to protect people and counter demon's attacks.
But no touch : very hot. (Like 2000 degrees at least , if I remember correctly my biology lessons ).

Lava breathing sixth form : lava butterfly.
It's a distract method , to catch a powerful demon by surprise with an attack.
Or , on special occasions , it' to give a painless death for the demon , where it'll see a bunch of orange colored , glowing , butterflies , dancing in the dark.

(Miyuki also uses it to tell « hey people I'm here ».)

Lava breathing seventh form : magmatic rock.
It's a very dangerous attack , that can kill the user.
It'll duplicate their strength and speed (it's like having a mark , without having one) , but , it'll be deadly since the quantity of ashes it releases is enough to kill at least 3 humans at once.
Using it only if there is no other choice.

The other forms being lost , she created her own.

Lava breathing eighth form : volcanic ashes.
Like the ninth form of mist breathing , a thick coat of black mist will create itself.
But , only with a bit of fire , the whole thing can catch itself on fire.
This technique is really to secure , torture , and end the demon slowly and painfully.

Lava breathing ninth form : fierce magma.
This attack takes a lot of space , and energy.
Like the ninth form of flame breathing, but , it's not as powerful , well , NOWHERE near powerful as the flame breathing version , but , it's much quicker , and much more precise.
Even if it's not as powerful , it still can make a lot of damage.

Final form : Necrofantasia (yes , I'm a touhou fan).
This attack is actually a mix between Lava breathing , and sun breathing (you will learn why).
It's very powerful attack , but also a very beautiful one. But it hurts like hell.
The katana will burn , and it'll become very heavy so , hard to correctly and precisely touch a demon. But at least , it's very much badass.

Weaknesses : with all the soot and ashes she breaths , she started to form a lung disease(the name of this disease is the longest word in English language. *inhale* Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. ). So : her throat is sore ,her eyes may itch and cry in the middle of a battle , and she'll come as far as not breathing for a moment.
She has less than a year to live. (There is a lot of other symptoms, but I'll keep simple for now).

More about them :

Mental health : since she has a form of depression, let's just say that it's not very good. But she tries her hardest to overcome it ! On her own..

Their past : Miyuki started remembering her life when she was like 6. Before that , she has no memories (I'll tell what happened in the bonus ).

Her father divorced her mother when she was seven , and , she went to live with her father for awhile.
Yes her father loves her a lot , but yet, people didn't like her : she was hit , insulted by kids , teenagers and adults , so , she often got into fights , which she won most of the time.
Surprisingly enough , she never broke any bones , and she knew basics of hand to hand combat. No one ever taught her that, so her father was surprised.

Apparently , she was most of the times complaining , about the fact that her « uncle and nice flower girl » left her.
Apparently the nice flower girl was named Koyuki.

Her father already knew about the fact that his daughter could see dead people , and it wasn't surprising since it's a family thing (but jumped many generations. Her great great grandfather saw dead people , but no one else).

Once she reached eleven , she was so DONE with bullying that ..She moved to her mother.
Bad idea. Really.

Her mother was pregnant of a second child , and was about to give birth , her aunt and cousins joined them (the Aoi family basically) , while the Akas stayed in Sakaiminato (a fisher village in Tottori prefecture ).

So , it was her mother , her sister (Yu) , her younger cousin (Yoichi ) with his sister (Amane) and her aunt.
(There is no other male , since her grandmother refuses boys , and kept saying that they were just trouble , good for nothing useless piece of crap. Yoichi get hit a lot .. ).

Small mention : Yoichi used to have an older sister , Hanae (4 years older than Miyuki) , but got out of the family after a huge fight with their grandmother (Hanae later transformed in a demon , and reached lower moon 1 rank , driven by all her hatred towards humans). She ended up being killed by Miyuki and Mitsuko.

When Miyuki was fifteen , her mother asked if she could go out to take some garlic in the forest (there is a type of garlic that grows into mountains , I sadly don't remember the English name of it) with her cousin Yoichi (who was ten at the time).

Night started to fall , and they were about to come back home , when a stranger (a dead one at that) said to Miyuki to NOT go to her house. She listened , and slept with cats with her younger cousin.

When they woke up , they returned to the house.
Sensing something wrong , Miyuki asked Yoichi to stay behind. And effectively.. Their family was dead.
Except her younger sister , who became a demon.

She remembered talking with a (dead) demon slayer , and remembered that the sun was the only way to kill them.

She never wanted to , but , she had to kill her younger sister.
And she did.

She never had the time to mourn , so , she grabbed all the money they had (they were poor) and gave it to Yoichi , asking him to buy them lots of food and a basket to carry everything.
While he was away , she buried their corpses.
And she still hates her family , since even though she could see dead people , she never saw them.

So , they started marching over her father's house , and begged him to train her into a demon slayer (she didn't want to become a prostitute ,or being married. That was her only option in order to survive , for both of them).
She trained less than a year , before her father died of sickness (she left her too , but , she never got angry for it. Never. She loved her father so damn much ).

After that , they went searching for a master , again.
But , Miyuki being the last Shiro alive , there wan't anyone who could help her perfecting her breath.
They eventually met an old man called Yukio, who was a former ice Hashira .
Miyuki begged him to keep her cousin safe.

He was a demon slayer , she could trust him. She could..

After leaving her cousin in the hands of a stranger , she continued traveling.

Until she met a +400 years old ghost , on the side walk.
His name was Tsugikuni Yoriichi. He was the original breath user.

Since he didn't know what had happened to his brother , nor to the Kamado Family , and she was the first one in centuries to talk to him, he took her under his wing.

He helped her master her breath , and taught her a bit of sun breathing , and made her promise that she'll only use it against Muzan or his brother , and help the Kamado.

She accepted.

Content , finally , after sending her off to the final selection , he disappeared , and finally went in peace.

Miyuki passed the final selection , at 16 and a half (she was used to demons , when she was in her own , she had to fight them , with what she knew and her Katana. And her newly found Haori, which she liked a lot.)

And met her cousin Mitsuko (as pretty as ever). They went on some missions together before parting , and then she met lots of people , and years later , she became a Hashira.

*bonus* : after her birth , her mother fell into a deep depression (baby blues ) , and her father had to work hard to support everyone , so , she was alone.
Well , alone with her cat , which was black , and was called Neferti.
This cat , was Miyuki's real mother , she taught her how to survive (she can eat anything , see better than humans in darkness , and has fangs).

When she was three , her grandmother started to live with them , and little Miyuki's brain suppressed everything because of how violent things were : abuse at home , and outside home. Pure hell.

It was during that period that she met for the first time in her life a demon : Upper Moon 3.
(Why Akaza's here ? Muzan asked him to kill every last member of the Shiro Family.).

Let's just say he was surprised at her fighting spirit (which was huge for a 3yo kid ) and the fact that SHE tried to attack him if he got too close to kittens.
Now THAT'S some kid he wanted to turn into a demon.

But no hurting girls.

So , let's just say they kinda befriended each other. (Well , Miyuki had to trust Koyuki' words to trust Akaza so ... But she eventually trusted him so that's it. Thank you Koyuki )
(Small note : Miyuki couldn't speak until 5 years old , and her first word ever was « uncle » , which is what she called Akaza.)

2 years later , he had to leave sadly , so , she gave Miyuki a demon cat, which is Whitney ! A beautiful , very fluffy white cat with beautiful blue eyes.

Sadly , she forgot about him overtime , but not him.
Let's just say he'll have a surprise in the « infinite train » arc !

Their relationships : as surprising as it is , she is actually a very friendly , and open minded person , so , she tends to be liked by others.

But , she likes best her cousin , her tsuguko, the younger ones (she loves Nezuko, and she just loves the Kamado so much , and yeah , everyone younger than her. She is like their older sister ! ) , Kyojuro (she may have a bit of a small spot for him , I mean , how can't you ? He's just so lovable and warm and strong !) , and of course , her cat Whitney !

Mental health : She is totally fine ! She is a cute , curious , kind-hearted , and heart driven person.
She doesn't really care about words , the face says it all !

Their past :
Mana was born in a good family : they weren't rich , but not poor either , and it was fun , always !
And apparently , it's her grandmother who gave her , well , her name (her grand mother used to be an exorcist ..)
Even if her parents ended up knowing about the fact that she saw Yokais. Yes , basically mythical creatures. She sees them all.
She didn't have much human friends , but it was fine ! She had her Yokai friends and it was enough for her !

She wasn't really bullied since the persons who tried to make fun of her either ended up with very poorly cut hair , broken legged , or nearly died.
So , of fear , no one ever made fun of her.

When she was eleven , her and her parents went into the woods , just for a walk.

Unfortunately, a demon decided to attack them.
If it weren't for Kyojuro and Miyuki being nearby , they would've all been dead.

Mana's father was fine , just .. Has a missing eye now .. But he's alive !

Mana was really fascinated by their breathes , and begged Miyuki to become her apprentice.

Mana (11 ) : Please please please I'm begging you please let me be your successor or apprentice or anything but please teach me-

Mana : YAY ! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH SIR !

Miyuki : why ...?

So , she became an apprentice , and was taught how to fight , along side Mitsuri , under Kyojuro's orders (it was hell if she was honest ).
But , she held onto it , because she wanted to become the same as Miyuki.

She held onto her dreams ! She even asked Yokais for help , in order to become better and better , when she wasn't training.
She also learn form a Yokai that apparently , Miyuki saw dead people.
So of course , she talked to her about it , and let's just say that after that big talk...

Miyuki literally adopted her as her sister.

After almost two years , she passed the final selection , alongside Tanjiro and everyone else.

Their relationship :
She is super friendly , curious , and out-going, she has no problem fitting in a group , but , she will forever and ever love her adoptive older sister (Miyu-nee-san ) , her almost like older brother (Kyou-Nii) and of course the younger Rengoku ( Senjuro. Yup , that's it. Just Senjuro.) (small story : her tsuba is actually a gift from Senjuro. Sen's tsuba is a small flame , but since he couldn't become a demon slayer , he gave it to Mana. Red faced and in front of the elders. Too much innocence it was cute).

She surprisingly loves hanging out with Genya (not much communications on his side , but Mana is okay with it , she just wants to keep him company and help him overcome his stress when he's with girls ).

But strangely enough , she dislikes Mitsuko..

Mental health : She is GOOD.
Well , not really. She often saw her grandmother abuse of both of her cousins , but not her (she is the favorite after all so) , now , when Miyuki annoys her too much , she can't stop herself from hitting her. It feels natural because she was it happen , it's not really her fault. But she really tries her best to stop , because she knows that it doesn't help her twin's depression.

Their past :

Their relationship : She loves her twin more than anything else.

Aside from that , she just can't stand the Boys (she drooled over them when she first met them because they are HAWT , but she can't even stand the half of them. Only Uzui and Giyuu)

She can't stand the youngers , so of course , she strongly dislikes the Kamados and most importantly Mana (she is trying to make her dear twin move away , and this is really the last straw ).

And she really , REALLY hates Akaza. Because he literally left her twin alone when she needed him the most.
