Standards
This is something I struggle with. Due to my anxiety, I can't hit most standards.
When I work, I work hard. Maybe, harder than anybody else. But, with an academic or leader stand point, I fail.
Why? Because, I do things differently. Why differently? It's how I cope.
You want me to do something, then you tell me I have to do it a certain way? My anxiety takes over and I start second guessing myself.
I may be average to people, may fail to standards, but know one thing...I consistently hit my own standards.
Why? Because, I can't do what some others can.
We're all different. I hate standards that put a group people down. Not everybody can do what others can.
People with dyslexia can't read as fast, or as well as everyone else.
Why put people in a hard spot when you're trying to help/train/teach them?
Find out what they can and can't do, then you decide their own standard. Raise up later, right now focus on the present.
So many leaders out there fail, because they make standards that they can achieve, not their people.
And, they make the mistake of doing a standard for all of them, or to their best person.
Guess what? Everyone's different. And, I am not talking about anxiety, because that's only one example.
The most valuable thing on Earth is people, why? Because, everyone is different and that's how it works.
