How To Help

So, I had been asked by multiple people how to help with a panic attack. They had asked, 'how can I help you when you have one?'

Well, everyone is different.

For me, if you are physically with me, you just need to hold me and kinda ground me.

But, most of the time, I just need to laugh. Just show me a future or even memory that's good. Show me a good outcome from my current situation.

If you make me cry, that's good. I don't cry from my panic attacks, I only cry when I'm out of one (or preventing one), due to the need of getting emotions out.

Crying is healthy. It keeps things from staying bottled up.

The best way to help someone is to get to know them and their anxiety. Sometimes, we don't even know we are in a panic attack.

I actually found this picture and it explains a lot about my anxiety that I didn't even know.

Everyone learns something new every day, but with anxiety you learn a lot about yourself that you had never thought about.

I zone out all the time. I didn't know it could be linked to my anxiety.

So, SonOfFear, does this help? If you're talking to me and I say I'm having a panic attack, just be there.
Sometimes just being a presence helps.
