He had done it.

How had he done it?

He did not know.

But he did know he'd done it.

A few weeks after the accident, Asahi was discharged from the hospital and everything seemed semi-normal again. Nishinoya'd had his stitches removed. His wound had healed, but now there was a big, ugly scar left behind that covered up his date.

He loved that scar. To him, it was the most beautiful thing in the world.

It was a reminder that he had achieved the impossible.

Not only that, but Asahi had too.

Now, he stood at Asahi Azumane's graduation as the speech finished up. He wasn't crying, he swore.

It was a lie. He was sobbing uncontrollably. So was a girl named Yachi Hitoka. And they both knew why.

Their soulmates were leaving them.

As the graduates walked offstage, they each ran to their soulmate. Nishinoya Yuu grabbed onto Asahi and cried. He cried, and Asahi cried, and Yachi and her soulmate Kiyoko Shimizu cried, because soon they would all be apart.

A little piece of him died that day.

"What do you want to do with your life?"

"Well, originally I didn't want to go to college, but-"

"But what?"

"But recently I found this really good culinary school, so I bumped up my grades and applied, and I got in."

"That's great! My boyfriend's gonna be a cook!"

"Well you never know, but yes."

That happiness had all been fake. There weren't any culinary schools near Karasuno. There never had been. Asahi would have to move to Tokyo and Nishinoya would barely be able to see him.

Of course, he'll come back for the holidays.

But that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

For sure, a piece of him died that day.

Because the next thing he knew Asahi was all the way in Tokyo and he was in Miyagi.

251 miles apart.

He was here, and Asahi was 251 miles away.

He looked at his wrist.

At least he's alive.

But that thought gave him little comfort as he found himself sitting there wishing that there wasn't such thing as a graduation.

There were 365 days in a year.

It would be a year before Nishinoya got to see Asahi again.
