What I Would Tell My Younger Self
Time machines aren't a thing, well at least not of yet. I may not be able to tell my younger self things I wish I knew then or give my past self advice, but I can help others. This is for whoever may need a stranger, a friend, or needs to know that they are not alone. For those who have yet to be in certain positions and others who have been in these situations before. Most importantly, this is to help me accept that the past is the past and though I didn't know certain things then, I do now.
Be Grateful-
I would tell myself to be more grateful, especially for those who helped me better myself and become the person I am now. Everything happens for a reason and you are the person you are today due to the people and situations in your life. Every achievement helped you flourish and every failure was a lesson. You really do live and you learn.
Cherish the Good Times-
Memories are moments that will last forever. No matter how much time, people, or yourself change the memories will remain. Cherish the moments, the now because I always find myself saying " I wish I could go back and experience something again. " Sadly, certain experiences only happen once in a life time, cherish them when they do.
People Come and Go-
As much as you may want him to stay or her to stay they won't. As much as you may try to mend the relationship, or reach out to keep a friendship, you sometimes can't. Their are some things in this world you have no control over. Along with the fact that some people, many people don't always have good intentions towards others. If someone doesn't want to thrive with you, what's the point of chasing someone who doesn't want to be in your life, or would rather watch your downfall? Why chase someone when someone else could be running to meet you halfway.
Love Yourself-
At the end of the day you come first. Your in college for you, you dress for you, you create your own happiness. After all, it is your life. Don't be so focused on trying to find someone to be with. At this point in time we don't even know what career we will have let alone who we are going to spend the rest of our lives with. Most importantly do NOT settle if the person you are with doesn't treat you like the king or queen, that your are.
It's OK-
It's OK to love.
It's OK to fall fast and hard.
It's OK to fall in love...a lot.
it's OK to feel awkward when making new friends.
It's OK to step out of your comfort zone.
It's OK to be weird, or corny.
It's OK to be yourself, even if being yourself makes you different or stand out.
It's OK to fail a test.
It's OK to feel as if the worlds falling apart at times.
It's OK to cry.
It's OK to scream.
It's OK to laugh with your head thrown back, or snort.
It's OK to binge watch romance movies whilst spooning ice cream into your mouth.
But,
It is NOT OK to give up.
