Chapter 6: Uncovered.
Jace glanced at me in wonder. "Who is your mother?"
"Cassie Middleton," I told him.
Jace's eyes opened wide in astonishment. "Wait. That's my mother too. We are siblings! Wow. I can't believe it!" I yelled. Jace pulled me over to him till we were so close to each other.
He...kissed me; on the cheeks too. Omg! It felt so awesome. If you have been kissed on the cheek before by someone you really really love, it would be hard to describe how wonderful it was. It was BLISS! I'm sure you understand. But now he was my Brother!
"Jace, we must banish my adoptive parents by pushing them through the magic door leading to the world of the passing." Jace seemed to understand fully well what I meant. "Yeah. But how? Lure them in with "bait"? I don't think so."
"Hmmm..." Come to think of it. I have hatched a plan of my own. "Yes. Why not we don't give them real money?"
"Yeah? Then what do we give them? Fake money? Not possible." Jace was getting annoyed, I could tell. I really liked him so...I shouldn't agitate him. "Monopoly money." I piped up.
Jace was smiling from ear to ear. He gave me a thumbs up sign and a reassuring grin. "I have a monopoly game," I told him. "maybe I can sneak into my house and grab 10,000 dollars from the box."
"Be careful though." Jace warned. He winked and disappeared into the treehouse as I reached the ground again.
I sauntered up to the tree I climbed the other time. My bedroom window was closed and locked. Maybe my parents didn't want anymore trespassers so they locked my window. I had no choice, I must go through the front door without being seen. That was challenging. What if they discovered me lurking inside? Many questions will be hurled at me. I will be in big trouble if I was caught. I stepped into the house cautiously after opening the door slowly. No one was in the house.
All clear. I thought to myself.
I hurried up the stairs to my room. I closed the door quietly and locked it just in case. I rummaged my drawers for the box. I found it. I counted 10,000 dollars and grabbed an envelope on my table. I shoved them in. With shaky hands, I took a pen and wrote in squiggly letters: Money for the tree.
Okay. Done. Uh oh. I heard footsteps and voices again. They, whoever they were, we're heading towards the door and pushing it. "It can't open! It is locked! Open the door!"
MY PARENTS AGAIN?! I was going to be discovered! I literally pushed the monopoly box into my drawer and opened the window. I climbed down the tree like a monkey and reached the ground just in time before I heard the jingling of keys. I heard the door of my bedroom open and my mother looked out of my window. "It is our daughter. Our horrible brat! GET HER!"
Not again. I was going to be chased. I ran like lightning to Jace's tree and up the ladder. I panted as I righted through my words, "brother, I was discovered by my parents again. We cannot let them find us up here or they will chop down this tree. They hate me to the core. They will destroy everything in my path,"
I heard scampering footsteps. "Here they come," I added.
I held my breath as I heard them discuss, "where did that spoilt brat go? Horrible girl. She could be up that tree though." My father's voice added, "there' a ladder. Let's see what's up there, should we?"
Oh no. They were going to climb the ladder.
I looked at Jace in alarm. He looked out of the window and yelled out, "Hey! This is my treehouse! Get out. Don't let me see you again. SCRAM!"
"Hey boy! That was really rude!" My mother shouted, a little taken aback.
"Did you see a girl run past by any chance?" My father inquired.
I giggled. "Oh yes," Jace said, giggling a little. "She ran over there."
He pointed to an area so far away that they would be led on a wild goose chase. "Ok thanks." They chorused as they ran off. We cracked up loudly. "Oh my god. That was so so funny! Nice one!" I laughed. Jace patted my back and laughed too.
Our sibling relationship was getting better so far.
