Chapter 7: Rainy Day
Scarlett's P.O.V.
"Ed, you have to get up." I murmured; shaking his shoulder. We slept at the Mae's house again, and I had come into the room as he seemed to be having a bad dream. His eyes snapped open a minute later as he sat up.
"Get dressed." I told him calmly, and he listened while I returned to Elicia's room. Ed....I know we couldn't do anything to save Nina. I knew what was going to happen, and yet I did nothing to stop it. Before long I realized that I had been staring at the floor for over thirty minutes.
I sighed, and Al, Ed, I headed down to Headquarters. We needed to see what would become of Shou Tucker.
Alphonse's P.O.V.
Brother was hesitant to knock on the door; as if it would hurt to do so. Yet Riza opened the exact same door before he had a chance. She said hello, and that it was strange we were up as early as we were.
"Um, we just wanted to know what is going to happen to Tucker and Nina." I explained, but just as I said that, her smile faded.
"Oh. Well, Tucker was to lose his State Alchemist privileges and stand trial for what he did to Nina..."
"But you said 'was'. What happened?" Scarlett asked. Scarlett also seemed slightly different today like Edward I noticed. She stood, without her coat, in a black long sleeved turtleneck shirt and skintight pants that tucked into her boots. Even though we haven't known her long, it feels like she's been a long lost friend for both brother and I.
"Well, yes." Riza replied to Scarlett, "Shou Tucker and Nina were both murdered last night. What?! No! That can't be! I let out the sound of a gasp while brother's eyes went cold as he looked up at her.
"No! That can't be!" He denied. I agree! Scarlett stayed quiet. I tried to comfort her by placing a hand on her shoulder, but she turned on her heels and walked away just as I was about to touch her. I watched as she walked away and out the doors.
"Brother, I'll be right back." I tapped his shoulder, and he then began to look around; noticing a certain red head's disappearance. I raced out the doors to catch up to her yet found her quite quickly in the rain outside. The automobiles on the road gave a quiet hum that added to the sound of rain. I stayed in the shadows for a second as I watched her painfully. She looked around quickly; causing me to hide behind a pillar to not be spotted. Then I saw something most unexpected.
She crumpled to her knees; crying her eyes out.
"WHY?! Why was I saved from Equivalent exchange!?!" Huh? She yelled out those exact words, I was sure. They didn't make sense though. "Nothing makes sense anymore. Now I wish I had died. Please...Truth....I can't handle the confused faces of them." She looked up to the dark sky, and I could see her ashy brown eyes.
"THIS WASNT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!!!"
Edward's P.O.V.
I walked through Central Headquarters; looking out the windows bleakly. Where were those two? Al went racing off after Scarlett stormed away. Okay, it's been about an hour, and I still haven't found them, so starting to freak out a little.
"Scar!?!" I called to both of them as I raced through the hallways. Finally I burst though a pair of doors to the outdoors and saw Al standing behind a pillar. When he finally turned around to face me, rain had been dropping down his helmet.
"Brother..." He whispered as if he had cried. The teardrops seemed to streak his metal cheeks as if showing me the impossible emotion. I turned my head, and there was Scarlett. Sitting in the rain on her knees crying her eyes out. "Go to her." Alphonse advised, and my body moved. I did not even will it to. Soon enough I stood in front of her like a shadow in the dark grey sky.
"What do you want?" She harshly looked up to me. I flinched; yet didn't hesitate to kneel down and engulf her in a soft hug. She was cold to the bone and shaking slightly.
"So this is really it, Ed? Giving up before you've even begun?"
"I finally got that smirk off your face."
"Scarlett can't be gone....even if she died, I wouldn't allow it."
"You don't know me. You never have." She cried softly into my jacket. "I honestly don't know who I am! God, why..."
"I don't have to know you to know you need to be comforted." I whispered softly into her hair. I could feel her chuckle under me and my face went red. WHAT THE HELL WAS I DOING!?!?
"D-DONT GET USED TO THIS TREATMENT!" I yelled suddenly whole letting go of her and standing up abruptly. There was the putter patter of rain,
Yet something else splashed on the ground as well.
Scarlett's eyes narrowed behind me at the being approaching as Al raced to my side.
"Are you State Alchemist Edward Elric?" The gruff voice asked.
"What's it to you tinker bell?" Scarlett gritted her teeth; standing up. I knew it was him.
Scar.
And he did not look like he was here to give me flowers.
Scarlett's P.O.V.
No! Not that bastard! He looked from me to Ed before speaking slowly,
"You're a state alchemist too. And if I'm not mistaken, General Scarlett Reems. It's been awhile." I raised my eyebrows. He and I have never met before!!! Unless...
"EPP! WATCH IT!" I screeched as I pushed Edward and myself out of line of his arm.
"Run Al!!" Ed called to his brother as I had a death grip on his wrist as I pulled him a long down a flight of stairs. Then, I pushed both boys behind me as I clapped my hands and a royal blue brilliance turned my arm into a deadly weapon. Scar was slightly shocked at my stand, but recovered in time to narrowly miss my sword. I looked back to see both boys standing dumbfounded.
"Run you fools!" I gritted my teeth at the end of the sentence as a left hook came around and socked me in the cheek. Good shot! I'll even admit!
"What about you?!" Al asked, but Edward urged his brother onward down the street and away from the fight. Now I can focus totally on Scar.
"Never have I met an Alchemist with your technique." Scar commented. Thank you! I take that as well as I can from a serial murderer! I stepped back as his hand lunged for my waist. This caught his attention. "You are wary of my hand."
"I'm just wary of that transmutation circle you have there." I replied as the back of my own hand met his own. I smirked as his eyes widened slightly before I kicked him and ran off. I needed to find the Elrics before Scar did! I raced down a small alleyway and barely dodging a young, starving woman leaving her home.
"Please help my son." She pleaded, "he lost his legs. All I need is enough money to buy automail ones." A pang resonated in my heart. Rico. This had to be his mother.
"I'll be back." I called to her as I kept running, but I knew I'd never forget.
There was a horrible crushing sound of metal and Al's scream resonated off the wet alleys. I stopped to catch my breath, but started once again once the sound registered in my mind.
"No brother! Don't give in yet!!" Alphonse screamed as my eyes landed on defeated Ed laying on the cold stone; the grey clouds raged more rain. Scar was so close. Close is the key word. I clapped my hands and separated the two just as Roy's car screeched to a halt.
"Halt! Scar!" Roy aimed his fingers at the man, yet I knew I blocked his path.
"He's mine Mustang!" I replied as I squinted my eyes through the rain. "I've gotten better since our last encounter." Roy seemed stunned yet confused, but that left time for me to race forward.
"ILL MAKE YOU PAY!!"
"Is that so?" Scar murmured, but ducked my punch nonetheless. I felt my confidence raise with every step closer I came; every move. "Then I'll take my leave now." He then touched his hand to the ground where it broke with enough force to push me away.
"May ishbala find mercy in you."
I stood, and looked to the sky. The droplets hadn't lessened, if anything they grew.
"Stupid rainy day." I sighed.

Hey guys! I just wanted to tell you I'm sorry for the crappy update on Nina. I hadn't watched the show in a year, and I couldn't remember everything, so I made it up as I went along. I didn't even notice how sloppy it was until I updated it.
