Scarlett's P.O.V.

There was a sharp pain that welcomed me when I woke the next morning. My whole body was exhausted from the battle that raged in my mind. I sat up slowly as I held my head with one hand.

"God, what hit me?" I groaned. Though the pain was annoying, I noticed it was tremendously less severe than other nights. Positives? I got sleep, and the nightmare ended before I got to watch myself burn alive.

"Here," I jumped a little at the sound of Al's voice, "Winry said this should ease any pain that you have."

"Thanks Al." I sat up to be handed a glass of water and two pills. Popping the pills in and gulping down some water, I finally noticed the weight on my lower waist.
Ed was still sleeping beside me, an arm still secure around my hips. "Um, when did he-?"

"Brother slept in your bed to try and calm you down." Alphonse explained, setting the now empty glass on the nightstand beside us. "You were thrashing around in your sleep."

"Sorry about that. Not a good dream." I murmured. I'm not going to lie, I was still pretty tired, but the choice was stay awake or face the possibility of another nightmare. "What time is it?"

"Somewhere around 5:30 in the morning." Al looked out the window with me, and watched the sun crawl above the tops of the buildings and pooling into the hotel room. Ed shifted beside me and sighed in his deep sleep, but the arm stayed around me. I smiled down at him. "If I may ask, would you like to talk about your nightmare?"

There was a second where I was contemplating the pros and cons, but then I thought: fuck it.

"...alright, I'll tell you, but you can't tell anyone else." I locked eyes with the holes in Al's helmet. "Not even Ed."

"I promise. I won't tell him until you're ready." He promised. I wrung my hands with nervous anticipation.

"It always starts in pure whiteness." I sputtered out. "I'm standing in front of a door. It has intricate symbols of things that I never understand, but in the end, I realize that is my door. I go towards it, and something stops me. It's a feeling that something is behind me; I go to look, and no one is there. There's another door. Though, it's not like the other door....it's, like, disintegrating slowly from one side to another. It has different symbols and gives off an entirely new feel. There's a voice that always catches my attention before I can touch the door.

"What it says isn't always the same, but most of the time the voice says it will always watch over me. I turn around, and I am being approached by a....I have no fucking clue what it is. I can't move, and just before it touches me, I am plunged into darkness and am on fire. I watch everyone around me begins to melt...I feel every bit of pain imaginable.....and my vision blurs like everything is a candle." I clenched my hands together as hard as I can. The fear was still in my heart at the mere thought of being back in that hell.

"Scarlett?" I snapped out of my trance when Al reached over and placed his large hands over mine. "We won't let that happen."

"Honestly, I have no idea what type of message the Truth is trying to show me, but I'll be damned if I won't figure it out."

"Well always be here to help." Al added, and I gave him the brightest smile I could muster up when my head feels like it took a direct hit from a cannon.

"I know, and thank you."

Ed's P.O.V.

"Alrighty, Let's get going." I yawned and stretched once dressed. I woke up not long ago, and Scarlett left the room to dress with Winry.
Good, because it gave me time to think about what Scarlett said to Al. She's having painful dreams wen seeing her own door. The door that connects humans to the power of Alchemy. For now, the main question would be,

Why is she seeing two doors?

Al nodded to me, and we head out the door as I grabbed my red coat.

"You two took ages." Scarlett's whining was the first thing I was met with. She stood in front of our door-

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WEARING?!?" I could feel my face go red just looking at her bare automail legs.

"What? Oh, yeah. Winry said I could borrow some of her clothes as she decided my regular clothes were 'stinking to high heavens!' Or whatever." Scarlett snorted. "All she had was skirts, so you'll have to deal with it for today." She began to walk down the hallway, and I couldn't move my eyes from the skirt bobbing with every step.

"Brother, we should catch up to her." I snapped out of my trance. I had to jog to catch up with Scarlett who was already at the hotel door sliding her arms into her crimson jacket.

"This is gonna be a long day." I muttered painfully as I struggled to keep my eyes away from her automail legs shining in the morning sun.

"Come on, I know a place with lost of people. We can start Operation: Attention Whore there!" Scarlett said, reaching back and taking one of my hands into her own and began to race ahead.

Pulling me, begrudgingly, along with her.

Scarlett's P.O.V.

This skirt is AWFUL. I feel like I don't have any pants on! How can girls wear these things?!?
Well, anyways Ed, Al, and Myself got to the square I was talking about, and luckily it was as bustling as I remember for another dimension.

Maybe this skirt is a blessing in disguise. I got more people coming to me to fix their shit than the Elric brothers.
Hahahahahha. Fuck you. 😋✌🏻

"Wow, all three of you are amazing Alchemists!" One guy stated to Edward. I had just finished handing a little girl her newly sewn yeasty bear when I heard their conversation.

"And when you tell everyone, say it was the Elric Brothers and General Scarlett Reems!" He beamed proudly. I have to admit, his smile is something to admire-

HAHAHA IM KIDDING HE LOOKS AWFUL!

Anyway, for most of the afternoon we were swamped with requests, which we happily obliged. Yeah there were a few people I had to rough up. Nothing I couldn't handle.

"Well, we did a a lot of work today." I sighed, falling into the chair next to Alphonse. Ed said we were going to a café for lunch. (Which I hope he knows he's paying because I surely am not.)

"Yeah." Ed replied with a smile. "But it felt good. For once in a long time, I felt like an alchemist for the people. Not a Dog of the Military or a soldier."

I couldn't help but smile back, because that's a feeling he should have. Being there for others, and using alchemy for everyone is what we're here for.

It seems like over the years, the job description for State Alchemist changed to fit the government's needs.

"You both are doing an amazing job, but, what are we gonna do when the Homunculi actually show up?"

"Ling and his lackeys agreed to help us catch them." I groaned at the name and sunk into my seat. "That way, we can face Scar without having the Homunculi in our backs too."

"God, I hate working with Ling, but I guess begging helpers can't be choosers." I sighed. I realized the Xhingese people were our only help, but damn did I want to complain.

There was the honk of a car across the road, and I looked to see Mustang's ugly, useless face staring back at me.

"I believe our presence is being called upon." I alerted Ed and Al towards the car. Realizing it was W A Y too cramped to put us all in the car, we drove to an alleyway where we were able to talk more privately.

"Fullmetal, Black Shadow, what is your intention of doing all these theatrics?" Obviously he was interested in our little show in the square earlier today. I grinned proudly. "You do know all of this publicity makes the chances of Scar coming after you more likely?"

"Bitch, he can try." I bluntly stated, tossing my hair over my shoulder.

"That's our goal, colonel." Edward agreed. I could feel his pent-up excitement as he squeezed my hand. Mustang didn't like that answer one bit, because then he started arguing how we almost got killed the last time The murder decided to come after them.

"At least we actually FOUGHT him! You were a useless as a pair of sunglasses in the dark!" Ed, Al, and I began protesting his assumption.

"Brother could actually fight, it's true you were useless sir...."

"IF WE WANNA POKE A MURDERER WITH A STICK YOU CANT STOP US I HAVE SUPERIORITY!"

During our taunting, I felt my back get colder, and more uncomfortable. While Ed was teasing Mustang never being able to 'set fire to the rain', I turned to meet a hooded man.

"Hate to break this up but," I tugged hard on Ed's hand and grabbed his attention towards Scar. "I think the guest of honor has arrived."

I hope you liked the chapter, and have a wonderful day!❤️
