Year: 2013

The days were hot in the Houston where the sun shone down fondly on all of its residents. It was a sunny summer Friday and kids ran along the streets playing games and laughing. Teens were secluded under trees sipping cold drinks while sharing gentle smiles, parents watched their kids from their porches sipping iced lemonade. A group of guys sat on a patio swing, talking, as people passed.

"So Awsten..." one spoke, his words muffled around a sandwich.

"Yeah Geoff?" he replied.

"Do we have any gigs this summer? I'm bored as fuck," Geoff groaned. Awsten simply laughed along with their third friend at Geoff's boredom. Of course they would have some gigs but it was expensive to rent out venues with such a small fan base. Most of the teens in town came to their shows but even that wasn't enough to make money.

"If we wanna keep playing shows we have to get a bigger fan base or rent cheaper venues Geoff... seriously, I'm running out of money," Awsten laughed softly. Geoff frowned. "And I'm not gonna have you guys chip in with your own money, don't even think about it Otto"

"We just wanna help." Otto muttered

"Yeah I know, but you guys worked hard for your money... I don't wanna take that from you," Awsten replied. They all sighed and continued to stare at the busy street. The group wanted desperately to play and expand their fan base but it was difficult without opportunities falling from the sky.

They continued to gaze around at the people. Discussing the cheapest venues they could play. Awsten began to space out, letting Otto and Geoff talk while he stared off. His eyes unfocused and when they refocused he was staring at a girl standing in front of him on his porch. Confusion hit him but then he realized exactly who was standing in front of him.

"Joey!!" Awsten exclaimed, jumping up with excitement to squeeze her.

"Hey Aws!" She spoke softly hugging him and smiling at the others

"Dude what's up!" Awsten spoke, he hadn't seen her in at least a week and his enthusiasm was obvious. Joey grinned and pulled out a paper.

"Two words. Warped. Tour." She said throwing a smirk at them

Awsten grabbed the paper and read, his excitement changing to shock.

"Joey..what..how??" he stuttered. In his hands was a flyer that read 'Houston Warped Tour Lineup.' Waterparks was the first name on the list "How'd you get them to let us play for the Houston show?? We're not even signed yet!" Awsten exclaimed, impressed.

"I have some connections," she giggled and nudged his side "and hey, maybe these few shows will help you get more recognized!" He laughed and threw his arms around her radiating the brightest smile.

"Fuck I'm so excited!!"

"How the hell did you do this J?? You're so awesome!" Otto said. Geoff nodded as he looked at the paper.

"Time to celebrate!" Geoff said, running into the house. The group followed him to find him setting up Just Dance and a few beers on the table. The group chuckled and Awsten shook his head.

"Okay, okay celebration time"

Hey guys!!! I know I haven't updated anything recently but here's this new story I'm writing. Over the week I'll be looking over my current stories and deciding which ones I still wanna write as well as updating this story. I hope you guys enjoyed this little introductory chapter even though it's short! I'll be uploading very soon, maybe even later today depending on how much homework i have and how my motivation is treating me. Enjoy guys!!
