(TW mentions of suicide, two panic attacks (one more detailed than the other), rp Tubbo being a badass for once in his goddamn life)

(2149 words)

Ranboo's POV

The tears steaming down his face made his skin burn and his eyes feel like they were melting but, still hating his enderman genes more than he ever had before, Ranboo kept on moving forward.

He had to find Tubbo. Tubbo needed to know.

Of course though, like every single damn thing in his life, it would've been way harder than he had hoped, especially since due to the amount of water that was coming out from his eyes he couldn't see a single thing and his face felt like it was on literal fire.

And as if that wasn't enough, his chest was also raising and falling at a very scary pace and it was very hard to breathe, he was most likely having and the timing was simply the worst.

Predictively enough, Ranboo ended up crashing into someone and he barely managed to steady himself before falling over.

He wasn't really sure about who it was at first, it was someone really small in comparison to him though that was for sure.

But when he heard a girlish gasp all the doubts he had were thrown out a window. He had just bumped into Niki.

"Woah woah Ranboo, you need to calm down!" Niki placed both of her hands on the trembling teen's shoulder, speaking to him with her soothing voice.

"N-No! N-Niki I...Tommy...he." Whatever discourse he had thought of to try to break the news to his friends and turned into a jumbled mess of words that barely managed to make its way out of the player's mouth.

His entire world was spinning and all the new information he had acquired in the past quarter of hour were spiraling inside of his mind as if they were in whirlwind.

His pounding headache distracted him for the enormous amount of tears that were steaming down his face, leaving burn marks behind due to the boy's enderman genes.

His face was literally burning up but he hasn't even registered it yet, his mind was simply somewhere else

"Ranboo. I want you to look at me." Niki's soft but yet stern tone brought the enderman hybrid back to reality and made him look down at the girl standing in front of him.

She brought her left hand up to his face and touched his cheek. Ranboo flinched at the touch but he didn't make any other attempt to pull away, despite the burning pain his entire face was experiencing, that touch felt comforting.

"Now I need you to breathe in and out slowly, can you do that for me?" Ranboo nodded shakingly, almost as if he was unsure if he'd actually be able to do that.

Fundy's POV

Fundy watched the scene go down, uncertain on what to do and if it would've been wise to react, with his ears flattened on his orange head.

He decided to step aside and let Niki handle the situation, she seemed to know what she was doing and he wouldn't have been of much help anyway, and to check out the paper Ranboo had dropped when he stumbled over the two of them instead.

He might've sounded very nosy since whatever was on that paper most likely didn't regard him in any way, but Ranboo was clutching it as if his life dipended on it when he bumped into him so he figured it must've been important.

Fundy picked the paper up making sure it wasn't ripped or thorn and opened it, reading each word slowly and trying to fully take in the message it was trying to get across...

But reading the first few words was all it took for his blood to freeze inside of his veins and for his eyes to widen in shock.

By the time he had finished going through the letter Ranboo's breathing had slowed down considerably and it was actually going at a normal speed again, not that Fundy was actually paying much attention to it though, he was too busy trying to compose himself as he processed the fact that his friend Tommyinnit was most likely gone by then.

"Uh Fundy? Is something wrong?" Niki asked as she turned her attention away from Ranboo and noticed the frozen state the other hybrid was in.

"Ranboo...is this why you were so freaked out when you ran into us?" His voice was calm, low and surprisingly steady. "Is Tommy...?"

The two hybrids locked eyes and the dread inside of Ranboo's red and green eyes told Fundy all he needed to know.

"Tommy? What about him?" Niki questioned as she watched her friends in confusion, she had felt the atmosphere thickening after Fundy spoke up and if she had to be completely honest it was kind of freaking her out.

"Did something bad happen to Tommy?" The unsure smile she had put on faded as she Ranboo looked over at her but almost immediately fixed his gaze on the ground, avoiding her eye contact. "Ranboo...what happened to Tommy?"

Fundy silently offered Niki the letter, his expression was unreadable, what could possibly be written on that piece of paper to make the boys look so...broken?

Despite some initial hesitation, she grabbed it and started reading it and the more words got into her heard, the more cracks her heart gained.

Tommy.

The storm that brought smiles and laughs wherever he went

The boy who's ego was only surpassed by his loyalty towards those he cared about

The soldier who had fought in countless wars for what he believed was right

The kid who she swore to protect after she saw how twisted the people that were closest to him were

He was dead

"Ranboo... this isn't- he didn't..."

"I'm so sorry Niki...that letter and his communicator were all I found, they were near the edge of a sea of lava in the Nether and-" Ranboo stopped walking halfway through his sentence, words weren't needed anymore, they had understood everything.

"We need to tell Tubbo." Fundy's words were nothing more than a murmur, but they were quick and terse and loud enough for the other two players to hear.

"Yeah we should" Niki replied "Come on let's go see if he's in his office." She urged them.

The two hybrids silently followed her, none of them voicing their fears on what Tubbo's reaction could've been like.

Tubbo's POV

"Oh come on, surely not!" Tubbo groaned as he stared at his cherished compass, its purple glow looking way shallower than it was probably supposed to be.

After a very unfortunate incident with a charged creeper, Your Tommy had shattered to pieces but after many hours of hard work he had managed to fix it, or at least that's what he had thought.

"You were working just fine this morning! Why break again now?!" The boy hissed under his breath as he glared at the enchanted piece of metal, almost as if he was actually waiting for it to respond.

Tubbo exhaled loudly before looking away from the compass and moving his gaze to the sky.

When he woke up the sky was of a bright cyan with many white fluffy clouds scattered around, but it had strangely muted into a dull dark grey sky.

It was almost as if the sky was as upset as Tubbo was.

"Maybe I should try to give the compass to Sam, he knows a lot about redstone and maybe he'll be able to fix it!" He thought, not willing to give up and to accept the fact that only item that connected him to Tommy was broken.

He started making his way towards his friend's base but he stopped dead in his tracks when he heard someone call his name.

He turned around and he was met by an unexpected and rather worrying sight: Fundy, Niki and Ranboo running up to him, looking shocked, sad and even angry.

"Uuh, Guys? What's going on?" Tubbo asked and his alarm only growing bigger when Niki and Fundy sent each other some sorry glances, as if they had to mentally prepare for what they were about to say and Ranboo just sta doing still beside them, his gaze fixed on the ground and his tail tucked between his legs.

"Did something bad happen?" He insisted. "Come on, your silence is freaking me out!"

"You see Tubbo, it's just that..."

"That?"

"It's just that it's something a bit hard to swallow so I suggest you prepare yourself..."

"Go on"

"Tommy...he..."

"Wait is this about Tommy?!"

"Yes, you see-"

"Is he okay?!"

"Well I wouldn't exactly say that since..."

"We have to go help him! Where is he? How is he? What happened to him?! Is he badly hurt?!"

"Tubbo..."

"Stop standing there like that! Tommy needs me!"

Niki tried to tell Tubbo as best as she could but the teenager has already started going on and on about how he would've helped Tommy and what they needed to do so, and he probably would've been going for a while if Fundy didn't get tired of it.

"TOMMY IS DEAD!"

The talkative boy fell silent, Ranboo looked up at him surprised, even slightly intimated you could say, and Niki sent him a look that if looks could kill, the fox hybrid would've found himself dead where he was standing.

"This...T-This is a joke right?!" Tubbo suddenly exclained, breaking the shocked silence. "This is just a very bad joke that you three decided to pull on me, there can't be any other possible explanation!"

His voice was the definition of shaky and even a deaf person could understand that he didn't believe a word of what he was saying, he was just in denial.

"T-Tommy is my very best friend, so I would appreciate if you didn't make this kind of jokes with me." A very unsettling smile found its way on the boy's face.

"Besides, Tommy is the son of the best survivalist that ever existed, there's no way he would just die so randomly, right?!" He continued. "Why do you look so sad? You're supposed to be laughing right now, that's the whole point of joked after all right? They need to make people laugh and...and..."

"And I have the compass! It was working just fine this morning...it doesn't really work anymore b-but that's because it's pretty defective and-" He pulled the compass out of his pocket but the gadget immediately fell from his trembling grip.

The compass wasn't working.

Tubbo's knees started shaking. "No this can't be true...it just can't be..."

Before he could say anything else, Ranboo hugged him tightly, murmuring a quiet apology.

"H-how...how did it happen?" He hugged Ranboo back and buried his face in the his friend's chest, his voice was nothing more than a quiet and dull murmur.

"He jumped into a pit of lava" Tubbo's eyes widened as he let go off Ranboo to face Fundy. "And we believe someone drove him to this."

The boy stood still for a moment, processing the information.

Someone had driven Tommy, his best friend, the light of his life, his fucking other half, to kill himself. Tommy was the person with the highest pain tolerance he knew so what did that p̶e̶r̶s̶o̶n̶  monster do to Tommy to make him want to die.

"Who was it?" Three words. Three quiet, oddly calm and filled to the brim with hate words.

"You...you should probably look at Tommy's letter yourself." Niki murmured as she handed it to him.

And so Tubbo read it.

He read about a young boy thinking that he's nothing but a nuisance.

He read about an outgoing boy struggling to believe his friends didn't want to abandon him.

He read about a loveable boy being sure that his family didn't and never cared about him.

He read about his fucking best friends wishing him well as he wrote his last farewell.

And it was then that everything inside of Tubbo's mind clicked. All the times Dream disappeared for a few hours almost every day, how his clothes were always dusty anf why his axe looked oddly bloody from time to time.

"Dream."

"Who else could it be?" Fundy nodded.

"But why would Dream do any of this? I don't understand!" Ranboo exclaimed, the burn marks from the time he had cried were still red and they were probably still burning as well.

"Because Tommy was way stronger than any of us." Niki simply replied.

"Stronger?"

"Because unlike me, Tommy never let Dream toss him around like a fucking puppet." Tubbo answered rather harshly, his gaze fixed on his shaky hands as he clenched the paper in on hand.

Was he still trembling because he was scared? No. He was furious. "And I swear on everything that I hold dear..." He continued.

"I. Will. Make. Him. Pay."

That's not really a good idea but go for it if that makes you feel better Tubs! :P

Anyway I'm sorry for being dead and blah blah. See, some people have a valid reason for not doing something for so long, but the only excuse I'd be able to use would be writer's block so I'm just going to say that I'm simply lazy

We're finally getting into the beef of the story and I can't wait for it to go on! Next chapter we see what Dream is up to and the chapter after that we might (still not sure if I'm gonna do that) see the other SBI's reaction to Tommy's supposed death, although I'm still deciding on that one.

Btw, I actually haven't checked of there are any grammar mistakes in this so just let me be for his one k? I swear I'll fix them eventually.

Welp, I guess I'll see ya around!
