Worthless.

Incapable.

Waste of space.

Unworthy.

A barrage of these words along with many others flew through your head. Why were you even alive? You couldn't come up with a very convincing answer as you picked up the pocket knife sitting on your night stand.

Slash.

You pulled the blade across your wrist causing an eruption of red to follow in a thin line behind it. You continued to do this until you felt a morbid satisfaction at the sight of your arm covered in slices, all of them oozing the thin red substance you longed to see. You finally put the knife down before going to get a shower and go to sleep.

The next day, you went to the cram school wearing a long sleeve, _____ hoodie. It was extremely hot, since it was the middle of your summer break.

You walked into the cram school building to see all of the other exorcists in training sitting at their desks having a fairly loud conversation.

"Why do we have to be here when it's soooooo hoooooooot," Shima complained.

"I knooooooow," Rin agreed.

"Shut up you two!" Bon yelled.

"Don't you understand why we're here?" Izumo pinched the bridge of her nose before realizing that you can into the room. "If anyone should be hot, it should be ______."

All eyes in the room suddenly turned to you, causing you to feel extremely nervous. You looked down at your desk in order to avoid making uncomfortable eye contact with any of them.

Shima gasped, "How the heck are you wearing that?"

Before anyone else was able to say anything, Yukio cleared his throat, "We're going to start now, so you all can worry about the heat later."

Several groans sounded from the others as they turned to face forward and pay attention, although a certain pair of ocean blue eyes lingered on you for quite some time longer.

After class, Rin came over to you as everyone else was leaving, "_____, do you want to come hang out with me near the water fountain?"

Out of all of your classmates, you trusted him the most. To be honest, you did have a serious crush on the demon boy, but you also felt some type of natural bond with him. It felt as though the two of you were soul mates with your destiny of it set in the stars, but sometimes you questioned those feelings because of how worthless you feel you are. You looked up into those beautiful eyes of his before plastering a small smile on your face, "I don't see why not."

Rin was the only one that could make you smile sincerely. No one else could make you as happy as he could and it made you question if you deserved to have him in your life.

"Well let's go!" He said grinning and holding a hand out for you, but you could see a different emotion in his eyes. You weren't quite sure what it was, but it made you a little nervous.

The two of you made your way to the water fountain, before sitting down on the rim and talking about trivial things. Everything was going well, until Rin asked a question that you did not want to be asked, "Aren't you hot, ____?"

"N-no, not at all. I'm actually kinda chilly," you lied.

"You're sweating. Why don't you just take the hoodie off?"

You panicked, "I was running late, so I slid this on quickly! I don't have anything on underneath!"

"Well, you can at least roll up the sleeves and cool down a little," Rin grabbed onto your arm.

Trying your best not to wince you sputtered, "N-no, it's fine! REEEALLY! Ahh-"

Rin pulled your sleeve up to see all of the cuts you gave yourself the day before. You sat there shocked, without any idea as to what you could possibly say when you felt something wet on your arm.

"Why?" Rin asked through his tears. "Why are you doing this to yourself?"

"Rin," you began to cry as well. You cared about him so much, and you never wanted to make him cry. "It's hard for me, Rin. I feel worthless, and I don't know how else to stop the pain."

Before you could say another word, Ron's lips were pressed to your arm. He kissed each and everyone of your cuts, "_____, I really, really care about you! I don't want to ever see you hurt and I really don't want to see you hurt yourself! Please, don't do this again! I don't know what I'd do if I lost you!" He looked up at you with tears still in his eyes.

"Rin, I-"

He leaned in and kissed you, taking the words right out of your mouth. At first, you tensed up because you were expecting it, but you eventually began to kiss back. His lips fit against yours as if they were made for that purpose. When the two of you needed air, he pulled away and said, "If you ever feel worthless again, come find me and I'll show you just how important you are."
