[ Arc 4 - 4 ] Hope

- Still, you did well... I know Garfiel's past but no need to add to it. If you want a rematch, it might as well be after saving the Sanctuary. And also, you should try the trials again. All demi-humans can do it, right? On that note, see you later! Otto, we're leaving!

Garfiel grumbled under his breath as Viu teased him, his pride and ego bruised by the defeat. He watched as Viu prepared to leave, his expression a mixture of irritation and curiosity.

- Hmph, you win this time, he muttered, crossing his arms. But just you wait, we'll have a rematch once the Sanctuary's safe. And... I'll think about those damn trials again.

Viu and Otto walked until they arrived in front of Echidna's grave. He saw Emilia sitting alone crying. Viu understood; Puck had left for good. Several days had passed where he was in prison with Otto so it remained quite normal. However, he feared Emilia's current reaction except that Otto reassured him.

As Viu and Otto approached Emilia, they noticed her sitting alone, tears streaming down her face. It was clear that she was in a state of grief and sadness, and the lack of Puck's presence seemed to make the situation even more poignant.

- Emilia, Otto said gently, approaching her with a sympathetic expression. Are you doing okay ?

- Emilia...., said Viu, it's us!

Emilia looked up as she heard Viu's voice, her tear-streaked face lifting up to meet his gaze.

- Viu... Otto...? she mumbled, her voice wobbly and filled with emotion.

- In dear and in blood. We came to lend you a hand. Well we had some troubles but here we are and I know exactly what's going on. That's why Otto and I came to help you.

Emilia sniffled, her eyes wide as she looked at Viu.

- You know what's going on? she asked, her voice tinged with a mixture of hope and disbelief. How...?

He smiled though he started to sigh every time he said it again.

- My senses.... I say it all the time, though! How many times do I have to repeat this?

Emilia chuckled lightly through her tears, the corners of her mouth curling up slightly.

- You and your senses, she said, shaking her head. I'll never understand how you do it, but I believe you. So... you really know what happened to Puck?

- ... Yes

Emilia's expression flickered with pain, her grief and sorrow visible in her eyes.

- What... what exactly happened to him? she asked, her voice trembling slightly.

*She doesn't know or is she lying to herself?!*

- Emilia, you know it very well. He left because he thinks you've grown up. And not because he abandoned you. The proof is that you even tried to save everyone at the Sanctuary by trying the trials.

Emilia's lips trembled as Viu spoke, his words striking a chord within her. She knew deep down that what he said was true, that Puck had left because he believed she was strong enough to stand on her own. But still, the pain of his absence was raw and fresh, and hearing it spoken out loud made it all the more real.

- I... I know, she admitted, her voice quivering. But it's still so hard to accept. I... I miss him so much.

- I'm being honest. I would have loved to have people I'll miss in life. But having only ever known these scars, I can't pretend to understand you. It's not true at all. And even the only person I could have had such a relationship with betrayed me. You tell yourself that Puck betrayed you and that these memories you found aren't you, but the more you run away from them, the more they will control you. What matters is not what you did in the past but what you decide to do today based on these memories. You are much stronger than me. Despite everything you've experienced in 113 years of existence, you want to create a just and non-discriminatory kingdom. I would have literally destroyed Lugnica and the world. I only trust a few people, and even more so if I hadn't already had the information about this world when I arrived in Lugnica. Know that the person I would have liked to meet is you.

Emilia stared at Viu, his words hitting her deep in her core. She knew that he spoke the truth, that her own fears and insecurities were holding her back from truly embracing her memories and standing on her own two feet.

- You're right, she said, her voice filled with determination. I've been running for so long, trying to bury my past and ignore my true self. But... that's not the answer. I have to face it, even if it hurts.

He stood up and held out his hand to accompany her to the entrance of the tomb.

As Viu offered his hand to her, Emilia took it, their fingers intertwining as she stood up. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for what lay ahead.

- Thank you, she whispered, her eyes locking with his. For everything.

- It's a pleasure.

He looked at Otto for a moment and told him honestly :

- You have become my best friend.

He set off with Emilia except suddenly he heard Echidna's voice in his head.

- Facing your past.

Viu knew what to expect and decided to run away, but it was too late and he immediately found himself back in the village, as a child.
