[ Arc 4 - 10 ] Goodbye !
Back at the Sanctuary, the demi-humans had already left the Sanctuary for good. Emilia having passed the three trials now controls all of Ryuzu's clones. Roswaal was imprisoned and tied up and guarded by Rem, and Ram, Garfiel and Allen took care of Otto that the evacuation went well. Beatrice and Viu gathered on the crystal of the body of the real Ryuzu, and the real Echidna. Viu thought about resurrecting them but he immediately changed his mind.
The volume of Roswaal's book of wisdom had been destroyed by Garfiel and then thrown into the fire by Rem. Beatrice also told Viu that she and Puck had burned down the Roswaal manor and the forbidden library top of it.
Indeed, when Viu, Emilia, Allen, Otto, Garfiel, Rem, Ram, Roswaal, and the Ryuzu clones see the mansion was destroyed and they all received Puck's signature....
However, Roswaal had a main house and these were only secondary. Viu did not comment.
The group, gathered at the burning estate, was awash in a mixture of shock and disbelief as they took in the sight of the destroyed manor. Puck's signature was clear in the destruction, adding to the surprise.
Emilia's eyes widened as she watched the flames devour the building, the heat warming her face.
- So... so this is what Puck did before he left...? she murmured, her voice soft.
- You know how he is.
Emilia chuckled weakly, a mixture of emotions flitting across her face.
- Yes, I do.
She looked around at the others, their expressions a mix of awe and confusion. The silence was broken by Ram, her voice cutting through the tension.
- I didn't expect that from Puck, she muttered, her eyes fixed on the burning mansion.
- At the same time, given how he distrusted Roswaal, what he did was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Garfiel nodded, his expression darkened.
- Yeah, I get that. Puck never trusted Roswaal, that much was clear. But burning down the mansion? That's a whole 'nother level.
Viu stared at the prisoner for a long time.
- Knowing that he wanted me to choose between Emilia and everyone else while wanting his daughter to be a docile puppet, I would have done worse in his place.
Everyone turned to look at Roswaal, the man bound and unable to turn away from the stares of the group. His eyes met Vui's, a chill running down his spine.
- What I did... he began, his voice quiet, I thought it was the only way.
- Oh, excuse me dear Margrave, because frankly it was the worst idea, even for Echidna's disciple!
( Although Viu can understand Roswaal's reasons he remains against it)
Roswaal's gaze narrowed, his eyes taking on a sharp glare.
- You don't understand, he began, his tone defensive. I thought it was the best course to achieve my goals.
Ram crossed her arms over her chest.
- Your goals? she repeated, her voice filled with disbelief. And what about everyone else's goals? What about Emilia's?
-And don't forget that you arranged for Rem to be sent to kill me and for me to kill Rem!
Roswaal's face paled at Vui's words, a pang of guilt flickering in his eyes. He had hoped to keep his plans under wraps, but Vui's insight was too much.
- I... he began, but was cut off by Garfiel's harsh scoff.
- You were willing to sacrifice anyone to get what you wanted, Garfiel spat out. Family, friends, lives... didn't matter to ya, did it?
Roswaal's gaze darted around the group, his former allies, his face growing pale as Vui's words sunk in.
- I... he tried to speak, but was cut off once again, this time by Ram.
- You don't get to justify yourself, Roswaal, she said, her voice cold and sharp. You used and hurt all of us for your own selfish goals. There's no excuse for that.
- And know that if Ram or anyone wants to kill you, it's 1 - Because we need you so that Emilia wins the election. 2 - Because I don't want to become Marquis. 3 - Nobody wants to have the blood of your descendant that you have in possessing his body: Roswaal Altair Mathers!
The revelation about Roswaal's descendant left the group in stunned silence. The room was heavy with shock and anger, and the tension was palpable as everyone turned to look at Roswaal.
Roswaal closed his eyes, visibly shaken.
- You... you know about that... he murmured, his voice barely audible.
- As soon as I arrived in Lugnica.
He looked at Ram to ask if he could tell the truth. Ram, understanding the silent question, gave a small nod. Her expression was hard, her eyes watching Roswaal closely.
Emilia, who had been quiet until now, looked between the two, confusion and curiosity in her eyes.
- What's going on? she asked, her voice hushed.
- Roswaal, I come from another dimension. And I teleported to Lugnica and from that moment the past, present and future information of this world entered my head. So the fact that you are Roswaal Altair Mathers, I know. Ram asked me not to tell anyone that I come from another dimension or Roswaal would know.
The room fell silent as everyone absorbed Vui's words. The revelation that Vui came from another dimension and knew about Roswaal being Roswaal Altair Mathers was shocking. Emilia, like the others, looked stunned.
A range of expressions passed over Roswaal's face. Shock, disbelief, fear, then realization.
- So... so you know everything... he said slowly, his voice quiet.
- Yes. Why do you think I never confronted you directly? You knew I was cautious but you took that for granted.
Roswaal looked away, unable to meet Vui's gaze.
- You mean... I underestimated you this whole time... he murmured, his voice hollow.
Ram stepped forward, her expression a mixture of anger and satisfaction.
- And look where it has got you, she said, scoffing. You thought you had everyone under control, and yet here you are, bound and powerless.
- I don't even want to insult you and Ram does that well for me.
Roswaal hung his head, shame and defeat written all over his face. He had believed himself to be invincible, the master of his own destiny, controlling everyone around him like pieces on a chessboard. But now, confronted with Vui's words and the harsh reality of being bound and humbled, he was forced to face his own arrogance and fallibility.
So, Rem, Ram, Garfiel, Emilia and Ryuzu's clones except went to the main mansion of Roswaal. Viu, Beatrice and Allen returned to the Irufurito mansion where Alfred and the 50 servants, the 20 residents, Meili, Frederica even though she will also go to Roswaal's mansion and.... Petra?!
- Petra? Did you come to work here?
Petra, who had been quietly standing off to the side, jumped at the sudden attention on her. She looked up nervously, a slight blush on her cheeks.
- Y-yes, she replied, her voice soft but clear. I... I wanted to learn more and become useful, so I came here to help.
I guess Frederica taught her the basics and Alfred and a maid too. Plus she and Meili seemed very friendly with each other. So I accept. On the other hand... Why did Allen and Petra stare at each other like that ?
Meili, having been watching the exchange between Allen and Petra, chuckled softly.
- Oh, them? she replied, a smirk tugging at the corners of her lips. They have a bit of a... rivalry, you could call it.
Life gradually returned to a semblance of normalcy as Vui, Beatrice, and Meili settled into their new routine. Allen, now part of the staff as a maid, continued his training alongside Petra, their rivalry adding a touch of lighthearted competition to their daily tasks.
The mansion, once filled with tension and chaos, was now infused with a warm, family-like atmosphere. Viu spent much of his time with Beatrice and Meili, enjoying the simple joy of daily life and the comfort of their company.
