[ Arc 2 - 6 ] Pain and Resilience
As they listened to the conversation between Viu and Roswaal, Rem's ears perked up, her attention fully focused on the exchange.
Ram glanced over at Rem, noticing the look on her face.
- Something caught your attention, Rem?she asked, her voice soft yet curious.
Rem's focus didn't waver as she continued to listen intently, her mind processing the conversation between Viu and Roswaal. She couldn't deny the twinge of concern stirring in her heart.
She replied quietly, never once taking her attention away from the conversation.
- Just... something about Viu-sama's words. The scars... the way he spoke about his past. It's... striking.
Ram's eyebrow quirked slightly, her usual guarded expression softening for a moment.
- Hmm. A man with a past shrouded in pain and hardship, hm? That's certainly not an easy path to traverse.
She shifted her gaze to Rem.
- You're concerned for him.
It was more of a statement than a question.
Rem nodded, her eyes filled with a mixture of worry and empathy.
- Yes, Rem is, she admitted quietly. He carries so much... it's almost palpable. The weight of his experiences, the scars that mark his body... it's clear that he's lived a life filled with hardship and suffering.
She paused for a moment, her voice laced with a hint of sadness.
- And yet... he seems hopeful. Resilient.
Ram hummed to herself, crossing her arms in thought.
- Hope. Resilience. Those are powerful things, especially in someone who's experienced such hardship.
She glanced over at Rem's concerned expression and let a slight smile tug at the corners of her lips.
- You have a kind heart, Rem. Always worrying about others. But perhaps... Viu-sama doesn't need our worry but our support instead.
( For those wondering why Ram calls him Viu-sama it's not only because he's noble but also because unlike Subaru in the same arc, the respect she has for him is higher. )
Rem's eyes widened slightly, a flicker of surprise passing through them, before she nodded in agreement.
- You're right, she responded quietly. Viu-sama doesn't need pity or worry. What he needs is our support. Our understanding.
She looked back towards the discussion between Viu and Roswaal, determination strengthening her features.
- And he shall have it, in any way he needs.
During the late afternoon, he waited in Emilia's room for her to finish studying with Puck who waited next to Viu having also noticed that Viu had grown and understood that it was through special training.
Emilia, engrossed in her studies, was unaware of the pair's presence, her focus solely on the tasks at hand. She diligently poured over books and notes, her mind immersed in the complexities of the material.
Once she was done, Viu wrote the word "Food" and several dishes appeared near Emilia. She turned around and saw Viu smiling at her.
Emilia's eyes widened in surprise as she turned around and saw the assortment of dishes magically appear. She looked between Viu and the food, her expression a mix of shock and delight.
- Viu...? How did you...? She trailed off, her gaze darting to the food then back to him.
- Oh you know my writing is becoming real... and I call it Wlan now. See? You and I are training in parallel.
Emilia's surprise turned into awe as she listened to Viu's explanation.
- Wlan? Your writing... becomes real? That's... incredible, she breathed out, staring at the food he had conjured.
She walked over to the spread of dishes, her eyes taking in the variety laid out before her.
- I guess we really are training together in different ways.
He smiled at that. He then approached her, reaching her level.
- You'll make it, Emilia. It doesn't matter where you come from, as long as you know where you're going.... that's fine with me.
Emilia looked up at Viu as he spoke, her gaze locking with his. His words, warm and assuring, seemed to reach deep into her heart, quieting the doubts and insecurities that often plagued her.
She smiled back at him, her eyes glimmering with determination.
- You're right. It doesn't matter where I come from. As long as I know where I'm going... I'll keep moving forward.
So Viu told her a summary of his past. From the time he was treated like nothing by his entire family to the time he had achieved inner peace before appearing in Lugnica.
Emilia listened, her eyes wide and full of empathy, as Viu shared snippets of his past. Her heart ached for all the hardship he had endured, the injustices he had suffered. But it also swelled with admiration for the strength he had shown, the resilience he had cultivated.
She reached out, placing a gentle hand on his arm.
- You've... you've been through so much, she whispered, her voice softer than a breath.
- Thanks. Therefore, I intend to support you as best I can as Viu Irufurito, as friend.
Emilia's eyes sparkled with a mix of gratitude and affection.
- Viu Irufurito, huh? she repeated, savoring his name on her tongue.
She took his hand in hers, squeezing it gently.
- I appreciate it. Having your support... means a lot. More than words can express.
