The next few nights, Jay decides to stay with me in my room. He keeps telling Cedric, "Just in case Jane shows up again and tries to hurt Riley. Last time, if it wasn't for Markus, Riley would be dead right now!"

When I heard the last sentence that came out of Jay's mouth, I was somehow scared. I had never really given that night any more thought. But Jay is right. If Markus had not been there on time, I would not be standing here now.

Cedric, however, decides to shrug it off and not argue with Jay. Since the first night Jay spent in my room, he has been acting differently around me anyway. He definitely knows that something is going on and that Jay is not just staying to make sure Jane does not strangle me. But there is still something strange about the way he acts and it makes me feel uncomfortable.

Markus sits on his bed every night and calls out to Jane to come back and talk to him. Both Jay and I feel really sorry for him and wish there was something we could do to help. I keep asking him if he wants some company, but he usually shrugs it off and says that he is tired and wants to go to bed. But sometimes when I go to the toilet in the middle of the night, I can hear him praying in his room. I do not know who he is praying to or what he is praying about, but the mumbling definitely sounds like prayers.
