ANNE

A few moments later, she is sitting in an armchair, the three of on the sofa opposite her, all drinking our tea.

"Lovely tea," I tell her with a smile.

"Oh, thank you dear," she looks pleased. "But if you are no relatives of Jane's, then how do you know her?"

"I am studying in Aberystwyth and I was looking for a place all to myself, when I found this house at an auction, which had been uninhabited for some time. As the house was in my budget, I decided to buy it. And when I moved in, I found some old boxes from the previous owners, who turned out to be Jane. Now I thought it was only be fair to give these things back to her husband and I was hoping to find out where he was staying these days," I lie, deciding not to frighten the old lady with some crazy ghost story about a woman she obviously knew.

"Ah, well, the last thing I heard was that Jane's husband went back to Germany when she passed away. I don't know exactly where he lives now though...," the old lady lets her thoughts wander for a moment.

"Is there any chance that you could tell us his full name?" Jay interrupts her thoughts.

"Oh yes. Wait, I know that I know it. It is in there somewhere," she taps her head lightly.

"No problem, mam. Just take your time," Cedric reassures her.

The old lady gets out of her armchair and starts to pace the living room, her thoughts clearly circling. "That's it. I've got it. Markus Christopher Krause was his name," she says with a smile.

"Thank you so much. You have been a huge help to us," I thank her.

The next two hours we spend listening to her telling us about how she grew up with Jane, who lived just a few houses down the road from her. They went to the same primary school, middle and high school. Then Jane met Markus and a few years later they moved to Aberystwyth. That was when Jane and Anne, which turned out to be the old lady's name, lost touch.

"Thank you again Anne," I smile at her, as we walk out the door and back to the car.

"You're welcome and I hope that you will be successful in finding Markus," she smiles back.

We say our goodbyes and make our way back to Jay and Cedric's apartment, as I still do not want to sleep in the creepy ghost house that is my home.

Back at the apartment, Jay starts surfing the database to see if there is any mention of where Markus is currently living.

After a while Jay notices that I can hardly keep my eyes open, as I am so tired, so he tells me to go to bed and promises me that he will keep looking, even if it means that he will not sleep at all tonight. I do not really want him to stay up all night, but he tells me that it is his own decision and there is nothing I can do about it. Uncertain about leaving him and Cedric alone, but tired, I get ready for bed and go to sleep.
