A SURPRISE VISIT
After telling us his story for a while, Markus say that he feels tired and wants to go to bed. As it is already half past ten at night, we decide to do the same in the hope that it will be a peaceful night ghostly disturbances.

That night there was not a sound in the house. It is dead quiet. You could probably hear a speck of dust falling to the floor, that is how quiet the place is.
Admittedly, it is a little frightening, because the last few nights have been filled with terror and agony. And you did not know what was going to happen next and whether you were going to survive the night.
And that goes on for a few days, I think it was three days, if I remember correctly. But now, I am confused anyway. Firstly, I do not understand what has happened to the ghost, and secondly, I have not slept at all, because I am too frightened to fall asleep in case the ghost shows up and kills me in my sleep or something like that anyway.

It is Monday morning, and the ghost has not shown itself since Markus has arrived. That was one week ago...
"Do you think the ghost has disappeared," I turn to Jay, who is standing at the stove and making scrambled eggs for breakfast.
Without even taking his eyes off the frying pan, he replies "No, I don't believe it has!"
"And what makes you so sure?" I continue, unsure why Jay is so confident that the ghost is still among us.
"Simple. A ghost is always there because it seeks revenge. That means it has to carry out its plan of revenge before it can rest in peace. Now, this ghost has not finished what it came to do and it will not rest until the deed is done," Jay answers confidently.
"And what exactly is this deed?"
"That is something we still need to figure out... The sooner we figure it out though, the quicker we can either help the ghost or stop it before it is too late!"
"Stop it? And how do we stop the undead?" I ask in bewilderment.
"For instance, if we can find the ghost's body, we can burn it. That way the ghost would no longer be able to cling to its body and the soul would be set free."
"But how will we find a body that disappeared many years ago and hasn't been found up till this day? That is not possible, is it?"
"Have some faith, Riley. You will have this place back to normal in no time, I promise!" Jay turns to me now, smiling and holding a bowl of scrambled eggs.
Just then, we are interrupted by the doorbell. I quickly rush to the door, unsure who it could be as neither of us is expecting anyone.

"Hi, Riley. How are you doing? I just wanted to check up on you. I felt so terrible leaving you all by yourself in this huge house...," Layla hugs me tightly, but quickly lets go of me in the middle of her sentence, when she sees Jay come into the room wearing an apron.
"Oh, hello... And who is this?" Layla walks over to Jay, but turns back around to me, waiting for an answer, obviously misreading the whole situation as usual.
"Hello, my name is Jay Smith. And you are?" he greets her.
"I'm Layla, Riley's old roommate, from when she was still living in a student residence with me."
"So, is he your boyfriend or what?" Layla turns back to me, a huge grin on her face.
"No... he's... ehm...," I stammer, unsure how to explain to Layla that she and Andy were right all along and that there is a ghost haunting this house and that Jay is actually a ghost hunter, who is helping me get rid of this spirit.
"I'm a friend. We met at an art event, isn't that right, Riley?" Jay quickly comes up with before it gets too awkward.
"Oh really? So, you are into art then too, ey? You don't strike me as such a person... but I guess looks are deceiving", Layla eyes Jay closely before turning to me. "If all the artists look this good, I might just start gaining an interest in such a thing too," she whispers, but loud enough for Jay to hear.
I must have brushed a little, but luckily Layla is too excited about him being here and Jay just gives me a quick smile before he goes back into the kitchen to continue preparing breakfast.
"Will you be staying for breakfast, Layla?" he calls from the kitchen.
Layla quickly glances over at me quickly to make sure that it would be all right. I give her a slight nod.
"I would love to, thank you," she calls back with a smile.
