Something that's really been on my heart lately is debates. People get really fired up, trying to disprove or prove God's existence, the Great Flood, how people lived so long in the Old Testament, and so on and so forth.

      But, I was reading this book called "No Argument for God: Going Beyond Reason in Conversations About Faith" by John Wilikinson, and it was really helpful. It was talking about how, sometimes, people try to rationalize their faith and, in doing so, degrade it. It would be pretty awesome to know the answers to some of these things, but that's where faith comes in.

Is your faith beyond facts?

Maybe the truth is beyond what humans can understand. Can you accept that?

Maybe God keeps things from us because it strengthens our faith. Maybe because He wants people to believe in Him, not only because of proof, but because He's real. Because You know deep down in your heart that God has to exist.

And, you may say, That's not proof enough. Well, I'd rather have faith than not believe simply because someone else throws a bunch of proof for their beliefs in my face. I want to find out what I believe because of the proof I have found in my heart and in the world around me, not someone else's gut feeling or book or reasoning.

For example, if you have a feeling you are in danger in the parking lot, then you don't question it, you park somewhere with lot's of light. It's instinct. And, I think, instinctively, people are drawn to God because it feels right deep down in their soul. People feel lost (and, although it is not a magical fix-instantly solution) but live with God is so, so much better.

I personally think that it is just plain arrogance to think that God is someone we can understand, friends. How could we fathom the God who flung the stars into place with the words He spoke? How could we fathom the God who breathed life into Adam, the first man? How could we?

So how could we expect so arrogantly to understand everything?

I have done the same; I'm not saying it is bad to have thought so. But, at some point, you must take that step- realize God is beyond facts, beyond feelings.

Am I saying you should abandon all intellectual pursuits?

Uh, no.

However, you should stop focusing on the 'how' but the 'wow'.

"Wow, I can't believe God did this. Isn't it great?" versus "How did God do this. Can you prove it?"

Science can show us more about God. So can history and archaeology and all that good stuff. But, idolizing it as the ONLY way to rationalize faith... not so much.

Some people will never believe in God because it seems crazy.

Well, friend, compared to the rest of the world, we are crazy. But it is perspective, friend! And, wouldn't God's will seem crazy to mere people?

So, don't give up when the facts are confusing. God is bigger.

Don't freak out when the debate is lost. God is bigger.

Relax and know that faith will win this fight. God is right here with you.

Because, really, there is proof for God.

You just gotta look.
