#3 ~ Its not a shrimp
When the weather is warm and the sun is shining what is a good way to pass time. Going to a river and yabbying/kayaking/swimming/fishing. The only flaw to that plan was we didnt have a kayak.
Anyway today Ronan decided he wanted to go fishing. Mum was all like "Cant you just take him to the wharf, its easier" and dad was all like "and how many times have you actually caught something worth while at the wharf". I was sitting reading as they continued to debate about what we should do for the day. When I got asked for my opinion I replied with a simple "I dont care". Eventually Nana butted in with her suggestion, that she texts her friend who owns kayaks and we go down to the lake/river. We all agreed and the plan was made. We were meeting them at 10am.
"Hat?"
"Check"
"Sun cream?"
"Check"
"Swimmers?"
"Check"
After grabbing all the necessary items we piled into the car. "Oh by the way, David is bringing his two grand kids as well" my nana announced as we neared the location. Nodding I put my ear plugs back in and continued to listen to my music. Looking out the window I saw tree after tree zoom by. "Are we there yet?" I said in my head, grinning.
We pulled up at the place and we were the first there. Grandad opened the boot and we started lugging our stuff to where we would have our picnic. After two trips the others pulled up. Ronan and I shyly introduced ourselves to his two young grand kids. Nathan and Rachel. Nathan was Ronans age of 10 and Rachel was 6. The boys quickly became friends and I played around with Rachel.
After eating we walked across the lake/river thingy to the other side where grandad was going to yabby with us. The yabby pump is like a metal tube with a pull up handle. You stick it into the wet sand and pull the handle. This sucks up some sand, you then pull it out and push the handle as the sand will come out. If your lucky a yabby will come out too. Anyway grandad would pump, i would pick up the yabby and Rachel would hold the bucket. "We have so many shrimp" She would exclaim. Every time she said that I would respond with "Its not a shrimp, its a yabby"
After collecting the amount we wanted we decided to set up the fishing rods and do some fishing. Standing on the shore grandad taught Rachel and I to cast. After that I let Rachel hold the rod and feel if a fish takes the bait. Every time we reeled in the line the bait would be gone. "The fish must have eaten the shrimp" "Yabby". After using all the yabbies we decided to go for a swim. Swimming around in the lake/river was really fun. Tiring though. Since the floor was a little squishy I tried to tread water for as long as possible. We decided to kayak as well and that was super fun too.
~End Of Port Maquarie Holidays~
The day was over pretty quickly with a bike riding in the afternoon with Sam and Maddie. Actually the rest of my holiday time in Port Maquarie was over pretty quickly. Beach, pool sunshine and Bam, it was over.
Luckily the last few weeks in Sydney were pretty good though. On the third day back in sydney I went to laser tag with some friends. Tiana, Ellie, Zane, Kirk and Mark. We went to the laser tag place at the shops. This place just so happened to have dogem cars, which were included into the deal we paid for. The first few rounds of dogems we did with another group of kids. My driving is limited and I would always crash, so that made me a target. One of the other kids {Whom I named hat kid as he was wearing a hat} would purposefully ram into me. It was a little annoying cause this kid younger than me was a much better driver than I was.
We also played a few rounds of laser tag, switching up teams almost everytime. It was a super fun morning but what brought my mood down was Zane looked a little sad. He said he was just tired but do you really look sad when you are tired, really?
After everyone left dad took me and Ronan to get our eyes tested.
"Do you have any problems reading"
"No"
"Do you have any problems seeing the board at school?"
"No"
"Have you ever thought you need glasses"
"No"
"Can you please cover your left eye and read the third line"
"A. H. J. P. K"
"Great thank you, now please cover your left eye and read the third line"
"T. Um G. Not sure if thats a P or an F. ah I think its an R and D"
That is how my tests went. And according to the optometrist my left eye is hopeless, Yay. Now both Ronan and I are getting glasses. Mine are quite big as I have to have a two different lens lens and bla. Im nervous about them though. I will probably look stupid. Why is it that all my friends who have glasses manage to look good in them?
