Chapter 8

Not long after getting the drinks, Liv and Y/N made their way to a random room. They didn't need to be near many other people all the time. What mattered now was that Y/N explained himself and for Liv to hopefully understand why he had to do such things in the past. It surely wouldn't be an easy day, but it was better to get it done before any trouble arrives on the horizon. Liv sat down in one chair, Y/N in another as they sat across from each other.

Y/N:" Just a heads up: this won't be pretty."

Liv:" I can only imagine, but I would like to know nonetheless."

Y/N:" You're one of the lucky few then."

Liv:" I consider myself a good listener, no matter what someone wants to tell me."

Y/N:" Good. Then pay close attention."

--- Flashback ---

It was some day in 2018. Me and my squad were stationed in the Ukraine. Apparently we were able to gather intel about an arms dealer who was a slave trader at the same time. We had his right hand man captured to hopefully get some answers out of him. Not many people could deal with interrogations the way I did them, so I was tasked with doing it again. I walked into a well secured building and made my way towards the interrogation room. Once I opened the door, I saw the poor sap tied up in a chair with tape on his mouth.

He didn't look like a bad person, but his actions told us otherwise. Good for him was that the room didn't have any windows or anything, so nobody could just watch us. I took a stand right in front and looked down at him.

Y/N:" Piotr Maskovic. You know why you're here?"

The man nodded frantically. Apparently he was uncomfortable already, but to help him out, I gripped the tape and ripped it off. What followed was a loud scream.

Piotr:" Gaaah, why would you do that?"

Y/N:" Because we're playing by my rules now."

Truth be told, I didn't follow any kind of protocol. Instead, I did things how I prefered them and that was by striking fear into my enemies any way I can.

Y/N:" You're the right hand of Mikhail Volaź. For the past six years, you took care of his shipments and finances, is that right?"

Piotr:" Why should I tell you?"

Y/N:" Because you don't wanna find out how bad it can get with me. You get one chance to tell the truth. Lie...and your family won't ever see you again."

Yes, you could argue that I wasn't right in the head at that time and that's true. The trauma I suffered has taken a toll on me, screwing with my head in so many different ways. This was just the beginning though as I lit a match.

Y/N:" Fire is a strange thing. It can give and take. You can either warm yourself or set yourself ablaze. Now...where do you get all these guns?"

Piotr:" From some guy from Iran. He has connections to other dealers."

Y/N:" Is that true?"

Piotr:" Yes! Mikhail handles the orders though, so I don't know much about that guy."

Y/N:" Right. And he's building a private army?"

Piotr:" To strike back against you filthy, greedy americans! You take from us, but never give back! Many lifes get destroyed, families suffer!"

Y/N:" Look at the leadership in your country though. It's not looking so well here either, now us it?"

Piotr:" What our people do is for the greater good of our society!"

Y/N:" By executing non-believers, letting tyranny and anarchy run every time you don't agree with the law and destroying yourselves from the inside out? You killed for this land in the name of your kind. Well done, you just played yourselves through all those years."

I was really getting impatient now as I took my knife and twirled it around for Piotr to see. I surely wouldn't leave until I had all the answers I needed and I would do anything to get them. I walked around towards Piotr, knife still in hand and staring him dead in the eyes. It may have seemed like I just played with the suspects, but all of this was part of my procedure from start to finish.

Y/N:" We just raided your warehouse, finding hundreds of people you were about to sell off. You people disgust me..."

Taunting him, I then spat at Piotr's feet before moving the knife towards his face like a crazy person. Sure, I had a loose screw, but my way of getting people to talk worked greatly. It was only a matter of time until I had what I needed.

Y/N:" Where's Mikhail now?"

Piotr:" H-Hey, take the knife away!"

Y/N:" I won't ask again!"

This time I grabbed the man and chair, dragging him towards the nearest wall and pressing my boot against Piotr's chest.

Y/N:" Last chance. Talk!"

By now, I felt something change inside me. I wasn't just a soldier anymore. I was crazed and just an overall degenerate. You could argue I would have resigned from my position by that point, but I didn't. I kept working like crazy, making more and more people fear for their life while almost forgetting my own humanity.

--- Flashback End ---

Y/N:" In the end, we never found Mikhail. He just vanished...I don't know what happened to me though."

Liv:" I can tell by the looks of things that this issue is still bothering you deeply. Not only is this criminal still out there, you did a lot of things nobody would be proud of."

Y/N:" When I was out there for the match just a moment ago, everything flooded back to me. And I thought Dolph was Piotr, so I handled him the same way."

Liv:" You didn't hurt him like that though. And Roman broke you out of the trance. Of course everyone will have questions about that, but you don't have to answer immediatly."

Liv showed her support by putting her hand on his and giving Y/N a supportive smile. This calm demeanor was what he needed after his inner turmoil tried to break through. Yes, he was worried about himself and how others would treat him, if they knew the truth. But being with Liv like that kept Y/N calm.

Hugging was the next step as Y/N and Liv embraced each other. No teasing this time. Instead, it was time to keep things comfortable for both sides involved. Liv was blushing nonetheless, because her crush on Y/N slowly came out again. She was about to nuzzle her head into Y/N chest until her phone buzzed, thanks to new notifications.

Liv:" Urgh, who's interrupting now?"

Y/N:" You probably should check, if It's important."

Liv:" I know, but we were just having a moment."

Y/N:" Look at you, being all sweet."

Liv:" That's just me, Y/N. Especially with people that matter to me. And you're very high on that list."

Y/N:" I feel honored, Miss Morgan. Say...would you be available tomorrow afternoon?"

Liv:" Are you asking me out on a date?"

Y/N:" You could say that."

Liv:" Hmm and where would we go?"

Y/N:" There's a public pool nearby. Maybe we can go swim and try out surfing."

Liv:" That's a deal-a-rooh then, Y/N. I'll gladly go out with you tomorrow."

Liv giggled and kissed Y/N's cheek before she got up and walked out of the room. This chemistry between the two was working out greatly and Y/N couldn't help, but have a genuine smile on his face. He was glad that Liv understood him and his intensions of what he did back then. Anyone else probably would've run away after a few minutes, but she was different in her own unique and cute way. However, now Y/N was faced with the challenge of figuring out how to go about the date.

Y/N:" A date after 4 years...I need help."

Getting out of the room as well, Y/N walked to where he last saw Austin. Maybe he could help Y/N out in this case, because the former general was quite out of touch with relationships and dating. No, je wasn't fully terrible, but every woman had different preferences of what to expect from a day out. Fortunately his friend wasn't that far away as Y/N joined Austin and quickly got his attention.

Y/N:" Austin. I have a date. Tomorrow. I need your advice. Now!"

Austin:" A-and your first idea is to ask me?"

Y/N:" I know you the longest and I can't ask Liv for advice about going out with her."

Austin:" Wait wait wait. You asked Liv out?"

Y/N:" Yes, I did. We're going to the pool tomorrow. But I suck at dates."

Austin:" Alright, calm down, man. You need to relax now before I start telling you stuff, okay?"

Y/N nodded and took a deep breath. He was sure this might take a while, but it was for a good cause in the long run. The two friends started off easy and slowly, but surely progressed into some more advanced topics. If this didn't help, Y/N would embarrass himself.
