Chapter 10
Sunday has arrived and with it came Extreme Rules, a Pay-Per-View that was hyped up considerably well compared to some of its counterparts. The card was quite impressive actually:
The Miz vs Ricochet vs Damien Priest
Naomi vs Carmella in a Tables match
AJ Styles vs Kofi Kingston for the Intercontinental championship
Elias vs Tony Nese vs Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn for the United States championship
Roman Reigns vs Samoa Joe in a Last Man Standing match
Liv Morgan vs Tamina vs Shayna Baszler
Daniel Bryan vs Drew McIntyre in an Extreme Rules match
And Dolph Ziggler vs Y/N L/N in an I Quit match
Overall a very nice card that promised something for everyone. Fans were already getting to their seats as the pre-show pannel talked about what they could expect. The promo package for the show was something else to witness when it came to the point of Y/N and Dolph. Their rivalry was scorching already and tonight tensions would blow over as soon as they met in the ring again.
Backstage, Y/N was seen warming up for his match. He was been preparing both physically and mentally for this battle and he would make sure to show everyone why messing with him was a bad idea. On the other hand, he thought about Liv and how tough her match was going to be. Tamina and Shayna were no slouches at all, so it was really going to be interesting to see what the three can do. Liv was also on his mind because of their date earlier this week. Y/N smiled, remembering how adorable she was while swimming or just chatting in general. It was a nice contrast to his usually serious and cold personality, but thanks to Liv, Y/N opened up more already. Speaking of Liv, she surprised the tall man by holding his eyes shut.
Liv:" No peeking."
Y/N:" I wasn't going to."
Liv:" Are you sure~?"
Y/N:" As sure as possible."
Liv:" Hmm, alrighty then."
Giggling and uncovering his eyes again, Liv had a smile on her face when she posted for Y/N to show off her gear for the night.
Liv:" You like it?"
Y/N:" You look amazing, Liv. Fully blacked out and the little necklace around your neck? Very nice touch."
Liv:" Awww, you're a sweetheart, Y/N. Since it's Extreme Rules, I wanted to be darker and more extreme too."
Y/N:" Your gear definitly reflects that. I can't wait to see what you will do tonight."
Liv:" Then come and...watch me~."
Sharing a laugh with each other, Y/N softly ruffled up Liv's hair just to mess around with her a bit. She really was a light for him and Y/N always felt a lot better when she was around. Their connection was more than a normal friendship at this point and they prefered it to get even better over time. Liv's talks with Ruby also helped her to step up to anything that she thought held her back.
Liv:" How do you feel about your match?"
Y/N:" It will be tough, that's for sure. Dolph is a veteran and he can take a lot, so making him quit won't be easy. But I have my ways to take him down."
Liv:" Oooh Mr Big and Scary is back. Give him hell out there, Y/N!"
Y/N:" You bet I will, Lo-...Liv."
It was a very close call there for Y/N to not embarrass himself right now. Apparently his feelings were poking through there as he talked with Liv who couldn't help but giggle at his reaction. Things would actually have been fair, if he gave her a nickname as well by this point.
---------------------------------------------------------
At around the middle of the show, the time has come to step up and make the name Extreme Rules a reality. The fans were all looking for ward to the coming I Quit match as Y/N and Dolph were in the ring already. Tensions flared up immediatly when the bell rung as the two traded heavy hits with each other. Even now, there was no way to hold the two back as they fought for the advantage. It was upon Dolph to introduce the unfair tactics, poking Y/N in the eye.
The Showoff had a smirk on his face as he pushed Y/N's head away, talking trash about him and his career this far. Of course monologuing could be a villain's greatest weakness, but Dolph knew what he was doing as he stepped back for a Dropkick.
Compared to the match on RAW, Dolph was actually doing better already as he showed off to the crowd. He couldn't stand that a former soldier was getting all the glory while he had to sit back and take it like that. No, Dolph was going to make himself relevant again when he beat Y/N. That wasn't going to happen so easily though as Y/N got back up. He grabbed Dolph and just threw him into the corner without hesitation, following it up with a Clothesline.
So much for gaining momentum, because now Y/N was in control and once he was, there was no way back any time soon. This short display alone was reason enough to take him seriously as he whipped his hair back and looked at Dolph who was bedazzled from the attack. The two locked eyes shortly before Y/N inflicted more pain by stomping on Dolph's arm.
Screams of pain echoed around immediatly as Dolph rolled out of the ring, checking himself over while Y/N went out on the opposite side. There were no disqualifications for anything in this match, so they could go as extreme as they wanted, starting with a steel chair in Y/N's hands. He got closer to Dolph again and ducked out of the way just in time before doing something absolutely nobody would've seen coming from such a heavyweight like him. He flipped from the barricade, grabbed the chair and kicked it into Dolph's face.
The shock and awe on the faces of the fans was enough confirmation that Y/N had them hooked. He was tall and muscular for sure, but this athleticsm was hard to believe at first. Smiling softly, he dragged Dolph up and threw him back in the ring, following along. He was bent over when Dolph came back in with a Running Neckbreaker to flatten the former general.
It wasn't enough for the end by a long shot, but it did help to even out the odds right now. Dolph and Y/N both were tough, determined and ready for violence as they were on the ring canvas, scrambling to their feet. It made everyone wonder what else they had in mind to torture each other. When both of them were ready to continue tearing each other apart, Dolph stormed at Y/N again for another attack, but Y/N retaliated with a Spinebuster.
The match was only around Steven minutes old, yet there was a certain level of carnage present already. And it definitly wouldn't stop there just yet. Dolph stayed in the ring as Y/N grabbed a ladder from underneath and brought it in the squared circle. He wasn't going to let the blonde man get away that easily as he took the ladder, opened it up and put it against the ropes upside down. Many wondered where this would lead as Dolph struggled a little to get back into the match. The only help came from Y/N who dragged him closer to the ladder, only to plant him onto it with a Gourdbuster.
Y/N:" You wanted this match, Dolph! And you're going to get what you deserve!"
The rage inside Y/N was coming through now as he pushed Dolph away and positioned the ladder like a bridge between the ring apron and the barricade. Fortunately his more sinister side was allowed to come out for once as he got more ideas for what to do to make this match even more brutal. He caught his opponent just in time as Dolph was about to hit a DDT, but Y/N resisted. His core strength was something else and everyone learned why when he put Dolph through the ladder.
A round of loud cheers erupted from the slam. It really looked painful and Dolph's facial expression added to the legitimacy of it as he rolled off the broken ladder in order to recover for a bit while Y/N took a deep breath. He knew the chair was still out there, but he didn't intend to use it again so quickly. That backfired as Dolph avoided a Leg Sweep and countered with a Leg Drop, driving Y/N's face into the unforgiving steel.
Everything was back to even grounds now as both men were down. The referee checked in with them, just in case one of them couldn't continue anymore. That wasn't the case, but they were feeling the burn in their bodies from the damage they have taken so far. The impact of their movies shifted the steel steps near them closer to the barricade and Dolph started to get back once again as he toughed it out with Y/N who was just as set on the victory. They hit one another harder than before and got closer to the steps as Y/N got Dolph with a strong Forearm Smash, laying him out on the steps. The former soldier used this opportunity to climb to the top rope, something he rarely ever did. Making sure Dolph was still in position, Y/N dove off, only to crash and burn.
Many people were sure this had to be it. There was no way that Y/N could come back from this as the impact really took a toll on his spine. Even the commentary team stood up to check on Y/N while Dolph shook his head, not believing what just happened a moment ago. It was scary to think about any possible injuries from that, but somehow some way Y/N's flame hasn't been blown out yet. He blinked a few times and groaned before slowly getting to his feet again. He was defying all the disbelief now as he headbutted Dolph and then positioned the nearest steel chair for the next move. The ref tried to step in, but he wasn't getting anywhere as Y/N put Dolph's head on the chair, took a few steps back and hit a Curb Stomp.
Y/N heard someone yell at the ref to stop this madness, but it wasn't over just yet. Instead, Y/N stepped up to that loudmouth of a fan to give him a piece of his mind.
Y/N:" Hey man. Sit back, take a sip of your drink and relax. We're all just here for a fun time."
Fan:" So beating people is fun for you? What if I would hit you?"
Y/N:" You don't wanna find out."
Fan:" Oh boohoo, I'm so sca---"
That really took a big turn as Y/N hit the guy and knocked him back a good bit. Of course this would be cause for a lot of trouble in the near future, but Y/N wasn't taking any bullshit from other people. They really got on his nerves like this and he had enough as he walked back towards the ring and pulled out a chain. Dolph was already resting against the ropes, so it was easy for Y/N to set up the beginning of the end when he wrapped a part of the chain around Dolph's neck, pulling back to choke him.
Dolph was struggling as his breath was getting cut off with each passing second. Y/N kept pulling though and eventually it was too much for his enemy as he yelled 'I Quit' into the microphone the ref held to his face, ending the match in Y/N's favor. Letting go of the chain now, Y/N stood back in the corner as he was announced as the winner while his theme played. The match itself was great in general, but the altercation with the fan wouldn't pass by without a word from management.
