Denis POV
"Correct," Elijah finishes.
Alex smiles in excitement, though not much can be expressed before the lights go out again. However, the lights take longer than usual to turn back on. When they finally do, it reveals a new area.
I look around, staring into every little detail of my surroundings. Dusk is falling rapidly. I seem to be in the middle of a forest. But not just any forest.
There are big trees and small trees. Short trees and tall trees. Grim, desolate camping tents. Some trees with no leaves. Some trees covered in poison ivy.
This wasn't a common forest where everything looked the same. There was unusual variation. None of the other guys seemed to be anywhere in sight.
I looked down to see another crumpled piece of paper, along with a flashlight. I uncrumpled the paper and tried to focus on the words, but daylight was slipping through my grasp.
I turned on the flashlight and shone it onto the page. Once my eyes focus, I read the words in my head.
"For this challenge, you will be forced to play a game of hide and seek. Mors, the seeker, will come to find you. The only problem is, Mors is not friendly. She likes to play deadly hide and seek. If she finds you, you lose a life. She has eyes in both the front and back of her head. Every part of her body is pitch black, hard to spot in the night time. She looks like a shadow. I should also mention that she has impeccable hearing, so I'd suggest you be quiet. She will also be able to see the beam of your flashlight if you're nearby. If you happen to find one of your teammates, both pros and cons are provided. You will be able to work as a team, but you will make more noise. I wish you good luck, though it probably won't do much to help you."
The paper then disintegrates into ash, falling to the ground and blending in with the leaves. Everything seems to be pitch black now, the microscopic amount of daylight now gone. The game has begun.
