Chapter 5: Both options
Her eyes looked empty for a second and he noticed that. No one knew what she was thinking but she still managed to speak. "Namatay rin ba siya?" She glanced at Rica's body lying on the floor. The things said by the demon about Rica getting jealous of her, the pressure of expectations from the bracelet, the fear of battle, and importantly, the disappointment of Shou's face were building inside Yuki.
She felt really awful.
Shou was about to speak but he got interrupted by a shrieked voice. Yuki immediately looked at where the voice was coming from and it was Ms. Trixia!
Trixia Luz was Yuki's teacher in two business-related subjects. And the teacher was in state of great panic whereas she even dropped her things. Why? Because there were a lot of people lying on the floor inside the school grounds! Who wouldn't be shocked?
This made Yuki in great panic too! What if Ms. Trixia saw the two of them? And it reached the principal? Just what were they going to say? Just how were they going to explain? Shit!
Meanwhile, the main cause of this incident was just chilling and again, with his uninterested look. So Yuki immediately dragged him to her bicycle. She cannot just leave him behind! So she threw their things on the basket, not bothering of fixing it and drove the bicycle really fast!
"Wait! Stop right there! WAAAAaaaIIiiIiiittt!" Letting themselves stay unnoticed failed but they cannot be followed. So her high-pitched voice faded away as they travelled farther until it disappeared. Then, she slowed down the pace of her bicycle while praying that Ms. Trixia didn't recognized both of them.
She tried to calm down and stop thinking about the possible consequences until she heard his voice.
"Yuki..."
Her body twitched but she remained to act normal, waiting for the next words he was going to say. "All of them are unconscious."
Just by hearing that, parang nawalan ng tinik sa dibdib si Yuki. However, just by hearing some few words, her relief was immediately replaced with unexplainable anxiety.
"Yuki, keep this in mind."
"There are only two things you can do for humanity-- preserve their lives or... free them."
At first, she didn't understand it. But bit by bit, she realized what he mean by that and what he said afterwards, made her conviction finalized.
"And both options oblige you to stay alive."
She can't see his face. But cold eyes and serious face of Shou she could only picture in her mind.
She kept quiet until they reached her house. She stopped the bicycle in front of her house and there was a tall black gate with elegant design. She got off the bicycle and opened the locked gate with a key from her pocket. But she felt something strange.
She looked at Shou who already got off the bicycle. And she realized that strange thing.
Oh no.
"Where is your house?! Sorry, nakalimutan ko!" She panicked while he only gave her, his straight face.
"I don't have one."
Ano?
"Pakiulit nga yung sinabi mo." Maybe she heard it wrong.
"I said, I don't have one."
"Haaa?!?"
Yuki can't help but react in confusion. She wanted to ask where he was sleeping. But then, she remembered that the guy in front of her was not a normal human or, he was not really a human. Either way, it will make the conversation complicated. So she asked a simple question.
"Anong ibig mong sabihin...!?"
"Well, I don't have a house here. So..." He walked towards her. "... Can I live at yours?"
