Chapter 29: The horror starts

"Good evening, we are the eyes of the Supreme Student Council. You can do any thing except of disturbing or harming humans. However, there is an exception. We invite you to Monster Slaughter.  Once in every three days, loud siren will start the event and unknown aermis will roam the whole place starting tomorrow. All the staffs are ought to disappear in this time. This is the period of your complete independence along with the humans. You have the liberty to live or to die. Your choice." There were two men dressed in a formal suit, standing right below the balcony. They introduced themselves as Taylor on the left and, Tyler on the right.

Taylor was a little taller than Tyler. They were identical twins and both were wearing the same uniform as Weyer. After ending the meeting session to the gwynzei, Taylor disappeared while Tyler was left standing. He had a straight cold gaze. He was not moving an inch. Then, the gwynzei started to roam the building.

Some where delighted when they entered the dining room after entering the door on the right. The service for food was said to be only available at three different time. 8:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM. And the service will be finished after two hours. It was already 7:00 PM.

Shou's luggage was standing beside him. He will roam this whole building later after meeting Yuki. The priority was to find his own room so he dragged his luggage up to one of the staircase near him. He passed by the railings then, entered the dimmed corridor. It was really long. There were at least 30 rooms in a single line.

Shou picked the room at the farthest, opposite way of the balcony. Then, he met a lonely glass pane on the highest part of the wall. This was the end of the corridor. The glass was transparent. He saw a large tree under the dimmed clouds. It was not that dark yet.

Room 40. That was the room number he picked. This single line must have contained 40 rooms and if combined with the opposite corridor Shou didn't take, it will be 80 rooms in this floor since there were only rooms on one side.

Shou placed his card on the device beside the door. It was an ID card he was given to, by Taylor and Tyler. The device not only has a scanning area, but also a small monitor.

It said, 'REGISTERED'. Then, the room opened by itself.

There was a king bed located near the right wall of the room, underneath was a rectangular grayish carpet. The bed has one white comforter and, two pieces of pillow that have different shades of black. It was facing the closet.

Beside the closet was another door. Perhaps the bathroom.

Also, there was a desk beside the bed while on the other side, was a very large glass pane. There was a long folded window blinds above it. From the scenery was a group of trees, swaying its leaves. Beside this building was unknown, however there was a hint of another structure.

'The moon will likely appear soon.', Shou thought.

At a dark room, Spade was sitting in front of multiple monitors. The light from the screens reflected on his face. He was resting both of his elbows on the desk and his hands were slightly clasped where his chin was rested.

Each monitor showed different locations such as the gwynzei picking their rooms and the chattering of humans inside the dormitory. However, he was staring at a single monitor showing two people talking under the lamp post beyond the couples of dorm buildings.

It also revealed the sounds of the location. For a normal human, it seemed like a whole large scraps of noises. But for Spade, he can differentiate the noises from the screens and analyzed it all at once.

For example, the conversation between Yuki Domingo and Shou Suzuki.

Then, the door behind him opened. It was Lucas. But Spade stayed still.

"Everything is settled, Prince Spade."

"I told you, never call me that. They might discover our real identities." He said without bothering to take even one glance at Lucas.

Then, Lucas formally bowed, showing no pride in himself. He was not hesitant.

"Forgive me, president." Then, Lucas stepped outside and closed the door.

On the monitor, both Yuki and Shou have a serious expression on their face. The place was quite windy which let their hair sway a little. There was a moment of silence.

Then finally, Yuki started speaking. "I'm sorry for making you scared."

Her palm landed on Shou's shoulder. And he didn't move nor flinched. "But don't worry anymore, they accepted me after telling them the truth."  She said while his eyes remained on her face.

She was grinning. She was having a cold sweat.

"You will never leave me, right?"

Behind a tree not far from them, someone witnessed it. It was anonymous. Its face and figure was well hidden in the dark.

It cannot hear the conversation of Shou and Yuki, however it saw her facial expression and actions. It was surprised. It never thought its strolling that was already expected to be boring, would lead to something interesting.

Who ever knew that Yuki has this side of her? It thought Yuki was a type of person who would always be submissive to Shou. But there was a saying, one's true nature will surface when risking their life. Was this her another side when faced in crisis with her life on the line?

After all, she barely succeeded intruding the enemy's den.

After that night, all demon hunters started to roam around the place while all humans were gathered inside the two glass towers, which was the school building itself.

Some demon hunters roam outside the towers and this includes Shou while some went inside like Yuki.

Their target was to draw a map of this place and get familiarize when things turn south. Afterall, the event may start anytime.

The school towers were the center of the place. Behind it was the dormitories. It was split in two sides-- a line of five buildings for the student residence and two buildings as the living  quarters of gwynzei, which were opposite of each other.

The dorms were not tall but rather, long. Just like the house of the gwynzei, it only have 2 floors each. There were no rooves but only roof tops. The bedrooms were actually exposed from the outside due to the large glasspanes. A rectangular white building with multiple rooms... greatly reminded one of a huge experimental laboratory. And the people inside were the lab rats.

As Shou stared at these buildings, he has a really bad feeling about it.

Meanwhile, Yuki was going to the other glass tower right after investigating the other one, by passing the open walkway. She rarely saw other people except the students.

If she will not be mistaken, the other building would have the same floor plan as the one she visited. There was four floors. The first floor has a library and gymnasium. Then, the other floors have four classrooms each. The faculty was located on second floor, the laboratory on third floor and lastly, a greenhouse on the fourth floor. The facilities were excellent.

She passed by the library then, the gymnasium. She only took a quick scanning in each room since she only wanted to check if her assumptions were right, that the floor plans were the same. Then, she used the escalator to reach the second floor rather than the set of stairs beside it.

She passed by the classrooms, the faculty, and the laboratory. Finally, she reached the last floor. She walked pass the students who were earnestly listening to the teacher standing in front of them until she reached another door. She swung the door open and she was right. This was the greenhouse. It was almost a closed-room if weren't for the ventilated glass panes on the ceiling.

As she was going to turn her back and leave the room, a standing figure caught her sight. It was a man not too far from her. His eyes were still cold like what she witnessed from their last meeting. He was staring right through her. No one was speaking.

If she can remember, they called him as...

Spade.

Then, a sound of the siren shattered the silence.
