Inaantok na ko...

Yuki is sitting at her chair with her chin resting on the palm of her hand. She's not listening at all and all she want right now is let this class finish faster since she cannot just sleep anyway. Thinking that she will be scolded for sleeping is enough for her to feel nervous.

Especially the teacher has such a high pitch voice, Lisa Trilante. Ms. Lisa is assigned for computer classes and all of the written activities are all based on the book--- complete memorization. And that's why she dare not waste her effort to listen. And why would she study programming?

She wouldn't not be a computer programmer or something para pagaralan yan! Enough na yung matutunan kung paano gumamit ng computer and other devices.

A lot of codings easily make her dizzy. She can handle mathematics, language -- anything! As long as she works hard, she will be able to understand that but not programming. Nooope.

As Ms. Lisa walking and speaking in front of the class, Yuki's mind drifted to what happened yesterday after Shou rescued her from the dog.

She was obediently sitting on the sofa; waiting for Shou doing a quick shower. She feels like a little child who's about to be scolded.

The door made a sound of being opened but Yuki didn't dare to move and patiently waiting for his words. She noticed his hair which is barely dried and when he sat down in front of her, it gave her an opportunity to observe Shou. A small towel rests on his shoulder and a fine distance between them exist by the table located at the center of couches.

She looked pass through him who's resting his arms on the back of the sofa and he spoke, "The level of that living soul is C which is stronger than what we usually kill-- ranging from E to D. Even a living soul that looks like a human has a level too. For example, myself, my level is A. " After finishing that sentence, he then rests his head on the back couch. And Yuki's body relaxes.

"Do you know why living soul keeps coming here and manipulate human souls?" Didn't he told her that it's because of unable to use their full power on Earth without human contractors?

"But then why do they have to use full power on human world?" Her mind went blank. Maybe to cause chaos? Or the cliche fantasies such as dominating the human world? Nonetheless, she refused to say her guess out loud.

"It's because they feed on energy of the human soul." She doesn't understand and remained silent so he continues on explaining, "All souls has energy that can be replenished. This energy is consumed when their body senses are used. A human body has 5 basic senses: Sight, Hearing, Smell, Taste and Touch. Senses in our Soul has same basic things. But the thing is, every senses of the human soul are blocked except for Touch.

In the human world, there is something you call, sixth sense. It is not actually an extra type of ability where only some humans can do. This is the part of the other senses of soul that should be blocked which are

sight
hearing
smell and
taste

while living souls automatically have these senses. Comparing human souls only consuming one out of five senses,  living souls consume their energy faster than human souls. That is the main reason why they go here." Bit by bit, Yuki understood what he is pointing about. Living souls has more appetite as they drain quicker than us and becoming greedy, they want to use our energy.

"Level D and E have small capacity of soul energy. That is the reason why, all they can do is strengthen the human body.  For example, getting more strength, speed and greater reflex. We call them Parasite or hosted type of living soul. Because they are stuck to their contractor, feeding on them. It is easier to understand if you imagine them adequately drinking on energy of the human soul. They can't eat a human soul, though. Or else they will explode and die." She nodded at him. But does that mean there are also those types who eat a human soul? And that person will die?

"Now, there are types of living souls that devour a human soul." Upon saying that, Shou glanced at her and returned his sight on the ceiling.

"They are level C and above. And what I mean by devour is that, they kill a human using their own ability as living souls. They can transform. Eating a human soul has two ways, either taking the soul out of the human body and eat it or eating the human body along with the energy of the soul. Just like what the possessed dog attempted to do with you."
She remembered when the dog stretched its mouth open and about to bite her hand off.

"That demon is using the body of the dog to fish out their prey and eat them. And for another reason.

To be able to use their full power in eating their own prey." Only one idea came into her mind. They really don't like their prey to escape from them. But she's still safe right? The demon got killed by Shou at the end.

"Goodbye class!" The teacher bid goodbye to her class.

He is sitting alone beside Yuki's seat, thinking of a countermeasures for the demons that will be attracted to her. He doesn't mind attracting demons since he can single handledly kill them but Yuki cannot do things on her own. She's still a newbie for handling them and she definitely looks like an easy victim. That's why she must be with him all the time. He thought that but then why is she taking so slow in the restroom?!

Being impatient, he decided to go in the place where the hell she is right now. He suddenly stands up from his chair and that caught some attention to the students that were fixing their things and such.

He went near the restroom and rests his back on the wall while crossing his arms. From the look on his face, he's trying to wait for her by closing his eyes as if it could extend his patience.

Can you be much faster? Tsk!

He felt a presence from the doorway of the restroom and when he turned his head to it, he got disappointed. It's not Yuki. Fuck.

It's her classmate who looks surprised upon seeing Shou standing outside the restroom. "Excuse me." It's not the girl who said that but Shou. He decided to ask for the whereabouts of Yuki. She might know something since he cannot just go inside and be labelled as a pervert, wouldn't he?

Her name if he could remember is Marionette. He confirms it by asking her.  Her classmate looked a bit red after hearing his voice and she slowly nodded at him.  Then, he asked another question.

"Is Yuki inside?" Upon hearing her answer, he curses in his mind. Yuki is in danger!

Someone called Yuki just when she got out of the restroom. Surpisingly, it's not Shou who may be getting already impatient. He doesn't look familiar but he is a student of this school. Also, his eyes are not red nor there are demons surrounding him. Maybe it's alright to follow what he said?

The male student told her to follow him because he wants to tell her something privately. However, she doesn't let her guard down. In her each step, she is thinking of any possible outcomes. He may harm her physically or verbally. Or may be he means no harm.

However, why are they on the backyard of school where there are no single people here? Usually when people want to talk privately, they go to the library or canteen to have some peaceful talk. May be the guy doesn't want to be seen with her by other people?

While looking around, she is reminded of the extermination with her partner. This is their official location of killing demons afterall. Because of this, Yuki cannot help but think of how is Shou right now.

"Pamilyar diba?" His back faces her and they are few meters apart. His question interrupts Yuki's deep thoughts and confuses her.

What does this guy mean? This is their school. How can it be not familiar to her? Is it because this place is off limits but he still always go here? Buti hindi ito nahuhuli at napapagalitan?

Oh wait.

Does this guy know that she's often here along with Shou?! If the guidance know about this, they will surely get scolded about this! If he know it all along, maybe he also knows that Shou and her are living together?! The school will definitely not ignore this.

Then, Yuki realizes that what he's going to say is really important. But these thoughts suddenly clears up the moment she heard three words.

"Killings, I mean."

Her heart pounded fast. The guy made a fast turn to face her and his grin is revealed.

A pair of familiar eyes confirms her guess. His mouth barely covers its sharp long teeth from both upper and lower jaw  and its tongue slowly slip out like a reptile until it reaches the ground. Its body grows larger and larger, bulk enough for his back to curve down. His clothes got torn and tall enough as the 4th floor school building. His enormous shadow covers beyond hers. His fingers and toes become larger and his nails got longer thus his shoes are ripped apart.

This guy is a fucking demon! Is this the power of level C's? Is this still consider as C?

She slowly back down however, the demon doesn't let her and slams her down like killing a mosquito. However, due to its enormous body, its movement can be avoided in time.

Its nails almost injure her. If she didn't jump to the side, hell her body will be sliced in half.

Because of its power, the ground is shaking. Yuki stumbled down and did her best to hold on the ground. The building withstand the magnitude but the students are in chaos.

The demon found her and expressed its anger by shouting so loud before chasing her to make sure his palm will reach her body. Yuki cannot maintain a steady position from its each heavy step disturbing her attempted movement.

Its tongue still lays on the ground and beside her is a scythe. Then, Shou's face appeared in her mind.

She didn't waste her time to look for him and instead, she immediately grabbed her weapon and about to jump to the side again however, the demon is not planning to smash her down but to slap her body to the wall!

Yuki sensed a deep crisis but still, didn't give up to change her momentum to meet the incoming wide palm and jump over it. But the building will get hit! No matter how strong the building is, it cannot withstand a direct attack from that enormous power!

It's too late--

only she can do is watch the motion of its hand swaying to the building and her school to crumble down into pieces. She cannot stop her body falling to the ground.

Suddenly, a series of familiar gunshots add up to the growing noise. Her thoughts of tragedy sweep away from her mind and the demon cries while holding its bleeding hand. It staggers backwards and Yuki realizes the chance of attacking the demon.

From sitting down on the ground, she holds her scythe firmly and run towards the enemy to kill it!

Kill it?

The unconscious dog last night appeared into her mind. Her body suddenly stops from doing that one big swing motion to supposedly cut its one leg.

Ang kinakalaban ko pa rin ba ay isa pa ring tao?

At that moment, someone called her name. It made her flinched and notice her surrounding getting darker. She looked in front of her and above.

A large sole is getting nearer and nearer. Oh shit.

She doesn't have time to react. Her body froze. Is she going to die now?

Then, she saw a figure beside her, snatching her away from that dangerous spot, following another few gunshots.

The demon momentarily stops his movement before its feet completely landed on the ground.

The ground shakes again and all Yuki can see is the tall body of Shou. The heat of his palm on her wrist. She's facing the side figure of him, the sun shines behind him.

She dare not move but she notice that she can stand firmly on the ground now. "Just do what you usually do."

His gaze felt like it pierces to her soul. Then right there, she remembers what Shou said. Her two options.

Preserve or free them.

The demon turned his head to their direction. He let go of her wrist and starts to running around the enemy while accurately shooting the bullets on its eyes. Black liquid starts to gush out of its eyes. The enemy is covering its eyes while shouting in pain. Continuously saying his eyes... his eyes... his eyes are hurting!

"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH"

She watches the demon aimlessly hitting Shou thus she cannot read its movement. She have to find a good timing to attack it. She tightly hold her weapon, telling herself to find the timing faster. Faster.

Unexpectedly, the demon used its two hands to attack Shou as if it predicted that he is on that spot. But he is safe. He avoided it and both hands of the enemy are stuck under the ground.

There, she found a good spot. Yuki climbs up using its arms conveniently on the ground.

"GET OFF OF ME INSECT! GET OFF OF MEEEE!"

The demon suddenly pulled its hand off the ground and aimlessly hitting itself as if it is killing fly. However, Yuki is a bit faster and barely avoids the hits from it. She climbs successfully from its arm to its shoulder.

Her spot is right. The timing is just right. Her position is right. All she only need to do is to take one big swing to cut off its head.

"TRUST ME YUKI!!!" 

He shouted so loud like his veins on his neck take form on his skin. The time felt like it stopped. She unconsciously look at him and saw that pair of eyes again.

At this moment, I felt something has been unlocked deep... deep inside me.

However, the time ticks fast again. Yuki saw the demon smiled on her peripheral vision. Shou is just near the demon's foot!

Yuki immediately made that swing that she failed to do awhile ago, before the demon puts its plan into action.

The blade meets its flesh and penetrate its neck deeper and deeper. She already expect for this to be difficult but at the end, its head slides off its body.

The head falls and then the body. Because of this, another earthquake happened. Along with it, Yuki jumped to the ground.

The two of them are few meters apart and in the gap, the head rolls on to it and occupies that space. And immediately, shoots the head? Isn't the demon already dead?

Yuki looked at it and found an eye on the tongue that slowly closes until the whole body vanishes into ash.

"My bullets can't pass through his skin. That is why, I only targetted its eyes and its heart-- which is the eye you saw on the tongue."

She realized just now that demons who already died, will turn to ashes. That means, the enemy was not dead yet when she cuts off its head. She silently called herself an idiot. How forgetful is she to forget such an important thing.

"Pero nagdugo yung kamay niya nang binaril mo yon?"

"No. That's a trap. The demon intentionally let its skin be soft enough to let my bullets penetrate it. And want you to attack him while he feigns to be hurt. And you fall for it."

She feel suddenly embarassed.

"But you hesitated to attack it, its plan fail to wrap its tongue around you,  squeeze to death at the moment when your scythe will supposedly get stuck on its body. So it used its foot to crush you instead."

Thinking those things almost happened, makes her nervous. Then, she felt a sudden pain on her head. She unconsciously closed her eyes and slowly opens her eyes when the pain subsided.

At that moment, She saw his hand into a form of fist. And because of that, she realized that Shou hit her head.

This guy.... really....

"Why the hell did you do that for?!" Ano bang problema nito? They killed the demon right? Eh bakit naman ito ang nagiging demonyo? "I have to resort to violence for you to understand!"

Napaisip si Yuki. She's aware that she is careless on killing the demon and if without his help, she will die. But there's no need to hit her!

"Diba inexplain mo na nga kung ano yung mali ko kanina? Ano pa bang kailangan kong maintindihan?!!"

Natigilan si Shou pero nakarecover agad.

"Even kids know not to follow strangers! And what did you do? You left me waiting in the classroom!" Si Yuki naman ang natigilan. Oh yeah. Naghintay pala si Shou sa classroom.

After realizing that, she unconsiously looks at the ground and apologizes at him. But he just sighed and reminds her not to do it next again.

"Lets go?"

"Okay."

Along the way to school building, she remembers Shou's voice and made her smile.

"TRUST ME YUKI!!!"

Isn't it on the other way around? He didn't move an inch when he is about to get crushed by its foot. He told her to trust him but he's the one who trusts her first.

Hindi ba Shou?

She giggles and he glances at her but didn't say anything.
