Chapter 16: Chunin Exams

Hey y'all! I'm back from my writer's block! So, as always, heres the next chapter for ya!

~Your POV~

It's been at least 4 days sense I got released from the Hospital. So I've been up and training at regular times, nothing changed for the most part.

Except for the fact of my latest Test Results on the day I left the Hospital. Somehow all of my chakra points were blocked off permanently, and so I've lost my ability to use Ninjutsu or Genjutsu.

I haven't told anyone yet, but I knew I would have to eventually... I was currently having a sparring match with Lee, sense he was keeping his promise to train me after I got out of hospitalization.
When we stopped to catch our breath, I walked up to him at pulled him over to a nearby tree.

"Is something wrong?" He asked, concern lacing his voice and expression.

I looked him straight in the eyes, something I thought I'd never be able to do to someone. My expression gave off a very serious aura, causing him to slightly tense his shoulders.

"Lee, there is something really important I need to tell you... but you have to promise me something." I said, my eyes even sharper than before.

His facial expression told me that he was considering his options, not sure what to say at the moment. "Okay. I promise." He said shakily, as if he wasn't sure that was the correct approach to the situation.

"Good. Listen, when I got out of the hospital, the doctors told me something that I think you should know." I explained, slightly adding words to my sentences to buy myself more time.

He nodded. "What is it?"

You sighed and looked around once again to check if anyone was listening in on your conversation. To your relief, if was just you two. You turned back to him with the same stern expression.

"They told me that all of my Chakra points were blocked off permanently, so now I can only use Taijutsu. That's why for the past few days no one's seen me use Ninjutsu or Genjutsu." You explained with a sigh, trying to ease the tension.

His eyes had widened and his mouth was slightly agape. "What..?(Y/n), this is not something you should keep from everyone! This is serious! What about the Chunin Exams? You could get extremely hurt and--"

"I know. But don't worry, I'll be fine, remember, I can just about match you in a fight. As long as you shush your face and leave it to me, everything will be fine." I laughed, doing my best to reassure my friend.

He gave a small, yet uncertain smile. "Okay. Just, promise me something?"

"Yeah?"

"Be careful..." He said in a slightly pained voice. Sad, almost, it made me feel bad for him. He really did seem worried about me...

So I smiled in return and gave him one of his own signature thumbs up. "Will do, buckaroo!"

He laughed for real this time and lead me back to the grounds we were previously sparing in. We continued our match from where we had left off, both smiling as we trained; it felt like old times again.

Just then, Guy-Sensei, Neji and Tenten walked over to us. Neji with his normal nonchalant expression and Tenten with her bright smile, and of course, Guy-Sensei being the regular dork he was.

"Alright everyone! It's time to discuss the Chunin Exams!" Guy said, his voice just as loud as I had ever known it to be.

We all went and sat down in the grass as we listened to Guy's explanation. "First thing's first, I can't tell you anything about the events going on during the exams, but I can give you brief highlights about what you'll need in preparation and who you'll be up against, and which villages you'll be competing with."

"Must be more complex than I thought. Considering that little to no information can be given to the participants." Neji claimed while folding his arms, his expression still as clear and calm as ever.

Tenten nodded at that. "No kidding. We only get to know which villages are competing and what to bring? Isn't there something else you can tell us?" She asked, her hands eagerly in her lap.

Guy sighed with a shake of his head. "Unfortunately, no, there's nothing else I can give out. But telling you which villages will be showing up is actually vital information. Ready?"

"Ready." We all said in unison as we nodded, signaling that we were all prepared for the information about to be given to us.

"Firstly, there's our village, the Hidden Leaf. Next, there's the Hidden Sand, and the Hidden Sound." He said, putting slight emphasis on the word sound.

The Hidden Sound? But that's where Akuma and Orochimaru were raised! When I heard that the Sound Village would be competing, I felt my stomach drop to my feet. But Orochimaru and Akuma wouldn't be allowed to enter the Village, right? Lady Tsunade knows them both, and what their evil intentions are...

I kept trying to convince myself that neither of them would show up at the exams as Guy-Sensei went on explaining the preparations we would need for specific parts of the exams.

I didn't care much for that though, I was actually pretty much prepared for most situations, so I should be good in that compartment.

When everything was explained and everyone understood the circumstances, Guy left without another word. Neji and Tenten stayed behind with Lee and I so they could train for the exams.

Neji went against Tenten, and as usual, Lee spared against me. We trained for a good, long hour before the sun began to set and the sky was lit with different shades of orange and pink.

"Well, I'd better get home, see you all tomorrow!" Tenten waved before sprinting back to her house to get a good night's sleep after we had trained to hard.

"Same with me, I'd better get home before my Uncle get's too upset for my absence. Until tomorrow." He said respectfully before walking towards the Hyuga clan's compartments that were South of the Village gates.

"I guess that leaves me too then," I laughed. "I'll see ya tomorrow, Lee! Night!" I smiled before waving and walking off to my house.

Lee waved me a farewell and stalked off to his own home. When I walked in my house it slightly had the musty smell of dusk because of me being gone for a while.

I made my way to my room and changed into a suitable pair of pajamas and flopped onto my bed. I quickly fell asleep to the soft sound of the chirping crickets outside.

Only two days until the exams...

Heya! I hope you enjoyed this chapter, and I'm still sorry for the slow updates... But as always, I will see you in the next chapter.

Buh-Bye!!
