Chapter Twelve: Panic
Virgil had rushed back to his room. He felt foolish, Logan probably thought he was weird. He was terrified, though. He didn't want to believe it, but he had no choice.
It was him.
Not Mars, Tap, or even Lon.
But someone completely different.
Virgil had recalled seeing his character sketch a while back, but he didn't think he'd do the same thing!
He would've told Roman or Patton, but seeing as they were helping Thomas prepare a video and come up with ideas, he had to go to Logan.
He was sat on his bed, running a hand through his hair. He hated this, he hated that all of this happened and that he was this weak. The thought of encountering him again made him nauseous.
He took deep breaths, following the simple pattern. Four, seven, eight. Four, seven, eight. He'd repeat it until he felt calm again.
But there was no "being calm" right now. He just saw what could be another Entity, how was he supposed to be calm?! His thoughts were plagued with grim thoughts and scenarios. What if it would all be a repeat? What if it would do even more damage or something worse?
Virgil let out a deep sigh as he fell back on his bed. All he wanted was an escape, but the thoughts wouldn't stop straining his mind. So, he simply flipped on his headphones and put on a playlist.
I wanna be a bottle blonde,
I don't know why, but I feel conned,
Music started pooling through his ears. His thoughts were drowned out by music, but they came crawling back every time. Eventually, after flipping through multiple songs, he had given up on that idea completely.
What usually distracts me, besides Roman? Virgil thought. He couldn't distract himself, and felt too awkward asking Logan if he'd be willing to, so he's stuck with tormenting thoughts.
He sighed again, feeling distraught. He hadn't had something like this in a while. He decided to just think of what to do if he came into any sort of contact with him.
One, don't trust him. Harsh, but after the other three, Virgil wasn't taking any chances. Who would? Two, for sure, never let him too close to Roman. It wasn't that he was worried about him trying to steal his boyfriend, he was just worried if he would hurt him. If they did, Virgil would fully hate himself. Virgil hated himself a little more after the first incident. But if it happened again, God, Virgil wouldn't know what to do with himself.
He felt hot tears slip past his cheeks as he recalled the horror filled memories. He desperately swept his hand across his cheek, trying to wipe away his tears. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't seem to stop them from flowing.
All he needed was someone to hold him. To comfort him. To tell him everything was alright and that nobody would be hurt.
But nobody ever came.
timeskip.
Logan sat at the counter, drinking a cup of coffee, still contemplating today's previous events. He was still debating whether or not he should tell the others, because while Virgil would maybe explain why he was so panicked, he might get upset with Logan, and he didn't exactly want that.
Logan sighed. Emotions truly sucked to him, hence why he hated all these icky, complicated things. Being in love was a...good feeling, for the most part. The only thing that sucked was that it wasn't guaranteed to ever last, and it got complicated at times. Like when the couple fought.
Logan knew that well. When people fought. Him and Patton fought a lot. So did Roman and Virgil, and when they fought, dear lord, it was quite an...
...experience.
The amount of times they'd broken up was slim, only once, but the amount of times they fought was huge.
They were polar opposites, so Patton and Logan were quite surprised when they announced they were dating. It was a nice surprise, though. Patton and Logan knew immediately that they would fight, and over lots of things. But to their surprise, they didn't fight as much.
They never thought polar opposites would get along so well. Or be so affectionate. Virgil and Roman trusted each other more than anyone. And that's what was another shock.
Despite the bitter past full of rude and unwanted remarks, the two just seemed to shove it all away because of their affection. It was amazing to Patton and Logan, almost inspiring in a way. That two people can completely forget about everything crude that was once said all in the name of love.
However, they knew it wouldn't last forever.
The first break up came and went for the sides. It sucked, mainly for Patton. Why? He was so worried about his son. He would feel jittery knowing Virgil hadn't come out of his room for a month. Who knew if he was alright?
Logan let out a sigh as he pushed away the thoughts. All he wanted was Virgil to be happy and protected, and while he knew Roman could do that, he could also provide the opposite. Roman was hot-headed, and lost his temper fairly quickly. Virgil was an exception, though.
Roman had sympathy for him, and knew that one of his outbursts would upset him. So he tried to keep them in, or calmly exit the situation. For some occasions, the moron could be sensible.
But occasionally, he'd have an outburst, worse than the one's he'd bottle up. And it usually ended up with Virgil crying and questioning whether or not he was good enough and Logan and Patton comforting him. And Roman would leave to his room and try to calm himself down.
But he knew Roman was a giving lover. He was just...over dramatic. Virgil, had his issues, too, but Roman did more damage then Virgil did.
Virgil had occasional outbursts, too, but they were more self-deprecating or anxiety driven. He was usually either trying to escape to his room because he didn't want anyone seeing him like that, or begging for constant reassurance and comfort. He hated it.
Logan set his head on his hand. Their relationship wasn't any of his business, but he couldn't help but worry.
He was more concerned about Virgil than he was Roman. Virgil had a lot more emotional damage, and that's why he was a bit more protective. He wanted to be there for him, and to protect him when Roman couldn't.
Especially when Roman was the one doing the damage.
Logan let out a long, frustrated sigh. All this was making him drum up situations he wish would never happen. He knew, that one of them was more than likely to happen. And that made him worry.
He felt someone tap him on the shoulder. He jumped slightly and turned to see who it was. Virgil was sitting on the next seat over at the counter, with eye shadow a bit more smudged than usual.
"Oh, pardon, Virgil. Are you alright?" Logan asked, noting he looked like he'd been crying. "Oh, yeah, are you? You look kinda...lost in thought." Virgil muttered. "I'm...fine. Just thinking." Logan said.
"I understand, sometimes you just need to think. Doesn't matter what about, just to be alone and think." Virgil said, recalling memories from when he was on the balcony, standing in the rain and just thinking.
He let out a soft sigh. "Since Roman and Patton are out, do you...wanna watch a movie or something?" "I wouldn't mind doing that." Logan said, standing up from his seat. Virgil got up as well as he started to head for the living room.
Logan grabbed his hand for a brief moment. Virgil looked at him, confused, and turned around to face him. "Y-Yeah?" Virgil asked, mentally cursing himself for stuttering.
"Virgil, what had you so upset earlier?" Logan asked. Virgil knew the question had been coming, but he hadn't prepared himself for it.
After a long moment, Virgil finally spoke up. "Logan, d-do you remember those...things? The entity's?" He asked, looking at Logan. "I...yes." Logan murmured. "Well, it was like...them. But it wasn't one of them!" Virgil quickly explained, and paused for a moment, "It was someone...different. But I know, I know it was one of them. I know it was an entity..."
Virgil let out a sigh, "That's why I was so worried." He finished. Logan felt...confused, in a way. Had Virgil truly seen another Entity? It had been almost a year, and yet...there was another one. "I guess if we see another trait we'll know who it is, then..." Logan muttered.
"Did they look threatening?" He asked. "Not really...but I'm not taking any chances." Virgil said. Logan encased Virgil in a hug, surprising the younger trait.
"I know you're scared, but this will be alright. You must believe that. I know it's hard since you have such a dismal attitude, but for once, think positive." Logan whispered.
Virgil felt more tears brewing in his eyes, but he refused to let them slip. "I..." Virgil paused to bite back a sob. "I'll try." He said. "I promise." Logan let him go from the hug. "Come on," Logan started. "I'll brew some tea, go put on a movie." "But you--" "Shh, I know it helps calm you down." Logan cut him off.
"Thanks, Lo..." Virgil said, holding back tears, still. "Of course." He said, turning around and starting to make the tea.
He felt a pair of arms wrap around his neck. "You're the best." Virgil mumbled. Logan let out a soft chuckle, before going back to the tea.
