It was Christmas at the Hotchner-Reid household but not just any Christmas. This was the year Spencer carried a special gift beneath his heart.

It was currently 06:00am and Reid woke up to pain coming from his pregnant stomach.

He grinned as he felt the baby give a few swift kicks to his hand and knowing he won't be able to fall back asleep he decided to go downstairs and make himself a cup of tea since his precious coffee was out of the question.

As he was making his tea the pain returned making him wince but again Reid thought nothing of it.

Around two hours later Hotch came downstairs with a very bubbly Jack who couldn't wait for Christmas Eve to finally begin.

The little family eat their breakfast in peaceful silence except for Jack who excitedly talked about how excited he was for the baby to arrive.

Spencer who had noticed his contractions where getting more and more frequent decided that this was the moment to tell his husband that they'll probably get a very special gift under the Christmas tree tonight.

"Are you absolutely sure?" Hotch asked looking at his spouse worriedly.

Spencer just rolled his eyes and said "Aaron I've been timing them so yes I'm sure."

This made the usually stoic man beam and kiss the love of his life tenderly on the lips.

The rest of the day was very peaceful to say the least.

After a short walk through the park (which had to be cut short due to Reid's contractions and swollen feet) the small family decided to spend the rest of the day at home and watch movies until their colleagues and their families arrive.

After watching three movies the three of them their colleagues who insisted on spending the holiday together as a family.

At around 05:00pm the small family sat at lovely Christmas meal made by Hotch himself (who insisted Spencer take it easy) and then it was time to open the gifts while Reid continued to struggle with ever increasing contractions.

Just as Reid was about to get up there was a splash which made everybody gasp and the "mother"-to-be blush furiously.

In a surprisingly calm voice Spencer said "Aaron call our midwife and doula please."

Aaron did not hesitate to jump up and get his phone while JJ and Garcia helped a terrified Reid into the living room.

Morgan and Rossi just stood there shell shocked until JJ's voice rang through to them. "Morgan get towels and Rossi get some ice. It helped me a lot through my labours."

5 minutes later both the midwife Mary and the doula Joseph (Spencer had insisted on a male doula for a while) arrived and swiftly made their way to Spencer who's contractions had in the meantime reached 4 minutes apart.

Mary wasted no time in asking Spencer how long he was in labour for and checked his dilation.

"It seems for a first time baby and almost 20 hours of labour that your baby is finally ready to come tonight." Mary smiled as she got up to get her things.

As she was leaving Spencer turned to Hotch and Joseph and asked "Could you help me up and into the living room. I'd like to give birth under the Christmas tree please."

"Anything you want." Aaron smiled as they slowly and carefully made their way to the living room while their colleagues ushered the children upstairs as to spare Spencer any further stress.

"There you are. I was wondering where you went off to." Mary chuckled as she placed towels on the spot where Spencer pointed to under the Christmas tree.

When Reid was settled and both Aaron and Joseph were on either side of him Mary instructed him to start pushing.

And Reid did just that his face turning red as he tried to listen to both Mary's instructions and Aaron's gentle hands wiping his sweaty brow as well as Joseph's soothing voice.

After almost half an hour of pushing Reid gasped as he felt the baby's head start crowning.

"Alright Spencer remember what we talked about. Pant so you don't tear." Joseph said showing Spencer the breathing pattern they had practiced, together with Hotch who couldn't help but smile and say "You have no idea how proud I am of you."

This made the labouring man smile but yelp suddenly when the baby's head was finally out.

Joseph chose this moment to gently take Reid's hand and put it on his baby's head saying "You're almost there Spencer. Ready to meet your baby?"

Reid nodded and leaned forward gasping out "I w-want to be on m-my knees and I w-want A-Aaron to catch th-the baby."

With Aaron's help they got Spencer on his knees leaning him against Joseph's chest while Mary showed Aaron how to please his hands carefully around the baby.

With one huge push from Reid the shoulders came out quickly followed by the rest of the baby causing Reid to burst into tears of relief and whimper for his baby which was quickly put on his chest followed by a towel.

To Aaron Hotchner this was definitely the best Christmas of his entire life as he watched his husband bond with their baby who's gender was still a mystery.

His thoughts were interrupted by Mary who showed him where to cut the cord and after having delivered the afterbirth and being cleaned Spencer as gently put into sweat pants and placed on the couch.

"Could you please bring in Jack. I want him to find out the gender first and announce it to everyone."

"Of course. I'll get him quickly." Aaron beamed getting up to get Jack.

When he came back he gave Reid a wink saying "You better make it quick. The others are pretty antsy to meet the newest addition to the family.

Reid smiled tiredly and motioned for Jack to come closer and said "Do you want to know if you have a brother or sister?"

Jack bounced on his feet excitedly and carefully approached his step-dad who lifted the towel covering the baby.

The look of pure joy on Jack's face caused tears of absolute joy to appear on Spencer's face.

"So bud. What do you have?" Hotch asked his firstborn who just jumped up and ran into the kitchen where the others were shouting. "I HAVE A LITTLE BROTHER!"

"A little boy. Aaron. We have a son." Spencer said smiling at his husband.

"Do you have a name for our angel?" Hotch asked kissing his husband and son gently on their heads.

As Reid was about to announce the baby's name the rest of the family arrived which made Spencer feel so complete and he said.

"Everyone. I'd like you to meet Gabriel Noël Hotchner-Reid."
