"Lou, come on darling, you need to tell us what happened exactly and what the betas looked like" Harry says

Louis has been sleeping and taking pain relief the last few days, the boys have been doing their best to always have someone with him.

It's Thursday before Louis is feeling a little better and Harry and Scott are both at the boy's place, looking after Louis for the afternoon. Louis has become very clingy to them both and restless when they aren't around, he's been texting them nonstop and they both love that Louis is finally giving in to his omega more.

They are in the kitchen trying to get Louis to talk to them and eat some food, which is proving to be very difficult

Louis is sitting on the bar stool while Harry and Scott lean over the bench in front of him while they talk.

"I don't remember Harry, please just leave it" Louis begs

"We can't do that Louis; we need to protect our omega" Scott says gently

"Well, if I can't remember than I can't remember, so I can't do anything about that" Louis says

It's that moment when Harry and Scott realise that Louis is lying and he's hiding something. They look at each other, knowing they will have to talk together about it later

They both sigh

"Okay, well maybe it will take a few more days to remember" Harry says

"Now come on, let's eat some more lunch, you're fading away and we definitely aren't letting that go" Scott says pointedly

"I'm not hungry" Louis says

"Little Wolf, as your alphas we are asking you to eat" Harry says

"You're not my alphas" Louis says

"Louis" Scott says as a gentle warning

"And even if you were, you can't just make me eat if I don't want to" Louis says

"Ohhh darling, we absolutely can, and you know that, but we would hope that you would do the right thing and eat yourself" Scott says pointedly, Louis sighs at their controlling alpha behavior.

Louis picks up a piece of his apple and nibbles it slowly, the boys thankful he's listening to them.

"Lou, we need to have a chat about tomorrow night" Harry says, now that he's happy Louis is eating something

"I'm still coming to your place, right?" Louis asks, he absolutely won't admit it, but he's been craving Harry and Scott and being around them and their smells, spending time with them. He's been looking forward to their weekend together

The boys look at each other

"Well, we've had something come up, a business meeting we can't move, would you mind if we moved it to Saturday" Harry asks

"Oh, um sure I guess, I don't even have to come over, we can wait until next week, I'm still sore anyway so maybe we should just leave it" Louis says

Inside he's about to break, he feels his entire chest tighten and he tries his hardest to hold in his tears and disappointment

"No please, we would love you to come Saturday, but of course if you're still sore you don't have too, how about we check in Friday night after our meeting" Scott says

"Sure" Louis says quietly

He ends up just playing with his food and not eating and Harry and Scott feel terrible, but they can't get out of this meeting tomorrow night.

"Would you like to watch a movie?" Scott asks gently

"Um, sure" Louis says

He gets off the bar stool before Harry and Scott can help him and he makes his way to the lounge. Louis curls up on the sofa and faces away from Harry and Scott. They don't say anything, but they feel awful. Louis ends up falling sleep and Harry and Scott end up leaving before he wakes again

Friday, Louis feels an uneasiness in his gut, he's been giving into his omega a lot over the last week and having Harry and Scott ask him to scent them has really left him wanting to be around them, this is what he was afraid of. What if they don't want him around or find him too clingy. Louis just feels so overwhelmed, sore, tired, and anxious all at once.

He waits for Harry and Scott's phone call, and it never comes, he doesn't understand what he's done, and lays awake most of the night. His nightmares are getting to much anyway and sleep doesn't come easy these days, without the pain relief anyway.

When Scott and Harry call Saturday morning, Louis thinks of ignoring the call, but his omega won't let him.

"Hello" Louis says softly

It's 11am and he is still in bed feeling sorry for himself

"Hi Louis" Scott says

Louis is instantly on alert; they never call him Louis. He's worried and feels his heartbeat pick up

"Hi" Louis replies

"We're sorry we didn't call last night, we got home really late" Harry says but his voice has no regretful tone at all

"Okay" Louis says

"Look, we have to talk about a few things with you, can you come over? We will send a car" Scott says

"Um, I'm still sore and I'm not feeling very well, I don't really want to be picked up in your car, I'll just ask Drew to drive me over" Louis says

"Okay, let us know when you're here, we will buzz you up" Harry says

Louis sighs

"K, bye" he says

Harry and Scott then hang up.

Louis is scared, he's shaking as he puts the phone down on the bed. He thinks he knows what's coming and he is not ready for this, was trying to avoid this.

By the time Louis makes it to Harry and Scott's he's pale and sick, he's barely holding himself together

"You sure you don't want me to come in?" Drew asks

"Nah it's fine, I'm a big boy" Louis says trying to appear fine, he doesn't want to worry Drew

Drew smiles

"I know kiddo, but you're always going to be my baby brother and I will protect you forever, to the ends of this earth" Drew says

Louis holds his tears back as he hugs Drew

"I'm always here for you Louis, always" Drew says and hugs Louis back, careful of his injury's

Louis leans back and smiles shyly.

"Call me when you need me to come get you" Drew says and Louis nods

He makes his way in and up to Harry and Scott's apartment. As soon as the doors open Louis can smell something bad, it's a weird smell and it stops him, he doesn't like it at all.

Scott and Harry meet him in the entrance, and they look unemotional.

"Thanks for coming Louis" Harry says

Louis looks at them confused

"Come in" Scott says

They lead Louis into the room and to the couch, he sits down shakily, his body still protesting with soreness

Its silent and Louis just stares at the boys uncomfortably

"Can you just say what it is you need to say" Louis says quietly

The boys sigh

"Louis, last night we had a meeting with a new client, a huge company and while we were there, we......met someone" Scott says

Louis heart starts beating fast

"He's omega, 25 and one of their senior executives...and when we saw him, he.... we felt something, he's had his heat and he felt it too. We think we found our actual mate" Harry breaks the news

Louis cannot believe what he's hearing, he knew he shouldn't have let his omega guard down and be sucked into Harry and Scott's life. He's stupid for allowing it to happen, so stupid for giving in to his feelings for them.

"But you said...." Louis starts

"We know, the connection we have with you is like nothing we've ever experienced before, but when we saw Jax, it was obvious that he was ours" Harry says

"I....um......I" Louis says, he really doesn't know what to say

"We're sorry Louis" Harry says

"For what? reassuring me I was yours? Telling me I was yours whenever you could? Treating me like I mattered? Getting my hopes up? Which part are you sorry about?" Louis says angrily

"Louis" Scott tries

"Please don't, I don't want to hear any of your excuses or reasonings" Louis says

"We didn't mean for this to happen" Harry says

Louis scoffs before he tries to calm himself down, there's no use being mad, he only has himself to blame, he knew this would happen.

"You're right, I'm sorry, I'm really happy for you" Louis says but it's so painful to utter the words

"We really think you'll like him; his name is Jax and he's really nice" Scott says

"That's good for you both, I'm glad he's not a stupid 18-year-old, wannabe graduate who hasn't had his heat and can't bear pups" Louis says

"Louis, that's not what we meant" Scott says

"Please Louis, just meet him" Harry says

"There is no way that I'll ever be around him and the fact you even think that is okay makes me angry" Louis says angrily

"Louis, if we're not your mates that means there is someone else out there for you and you'll feel this too" Scott says

"This doesn't even make sense; how does that explain everything that we've experienced and felt together" Louis says

The boys don't reply, they don't have an answer

"Look, I need to go, I'm sorry, I know you are friends with the boys, but I need to put a stop to seeing you both, I'm sorry" Louis says

"Please don't do this Louis" Harry says

"We are obviously in each other's lives for a reason and been brought together as friends for a reason Louis" Scott tries

"Well, that reason is causing me and my omega to much pain and I can't be near you" Louis says, and he stands up.

Before he has a chance to move, the elevator door is opening, and a guy is walking out. Louis recognises him from somewhere but can't place him... and his smell, Louis can't stand it, especially mixed with Harry and Scott's smell, that's what he smelt when he first walked in. Their smells mixed together, so this Jax guy stayed the night...Louis wants to vomit.

"Hi" the guy says chirpily

"Hi babe" Harry says smiling slightly

"Lou this is Jax, Jax this is Lou" Scott introduces them

"Hi Lou, I've heard a lot about you" Jax says

He's creepy as fuck and Louis instantly gets bad vibes and doesn't like him

"Hi" Louis says uncomfortably, standing well away from all three boys, their smell is horrid. Louis is trying to remember where he's seen this guy from. He looks way bigger than Louis and for an omega is quite big.

Louis then looks at what Jax has in his hands and Louis can't believe it, he looks to Harry and Scott and back to Jax. Jax looks down to what Louis is looking at

"Oh, this is cool hey! Harry and Scott gave it to me last night after I told them how amazing it was" Jax says

Louis chest tightens, Harry and Scott gave Jax the drawing set, they knew how much he loved that. But it doesn't matter anyway, he can't let Harry and Scott know how much he's hurting.

"Um I was just leaving" Louis says

"Lou, stay for lunch... please" Harry says

"No thanks, I can't Harry and no offence you all stink and I can't stand the smell" Louis says sassily

He walks quickly to the elevator and presses the button; it opens instantly, and he steps in

"Have a nice life together" Louis says as the doors close leaving an upset Harry and Scott behind.

Harry and Scott feel terrible, they don't really understand what's happened either. They are confused, they feel the soulmate connection you're supposed to feel when the omega has had their heat but, it's weird, they don't feel drawn to Jax, nor do they have an overwhelming feeling to protect him or be around him like they do with Louis. It's very strange but they suppose that will come when they are mated.

"Is he okay?" Jax asks curiously as Louis leaves

"Hopefully he will be" Scott says

"Did you get all your things?" Harry asks

Harry and Scott are both trying so hard to understand what's happening and to be nice to Jax, none of this is his fault and he deserves Harry and Scott's full attention and love

"Yep, it's downstairs in my car" Jax says smiling

"Great, well let's get you moved in" Harry says

Jax smiles and they all go down to get Jax's things from his car

They don't want to lose Louis and want him as part of their lives, but they need to find a way to come to terms with the fact he isn't their omega.
