Eva POV

I had no idea how long I'd been staring at Joe or at what point my mouth had fallen open but I couldn't speak. I was utterly dumbfounded at the words that had just come out of his mouth.

He couldn't be serious could he?

"Could.........could you run that by me again?" I ask and he chuckles softly

"What if I come to the reunion with you" he says "play your husband for the night"

"You.....you want to come to my reunion with me?" I ask and he nods "as my husband?"

"Absolutely, it makes perfect sense" he says "you want to go, you don't want Lowell to know you lied so why not"

"Why.........im sorry........I just......I don't understand why you would want to do that for me?" I gasp "we hardly know each other"

"I wouldn't say we hardly know each other we talk everyday" he smiles "it might be a bit forward of me but I'd say we were friends and I want to help out my friend"

Once again I find myself just staring at him, I couldn't believe he would do that for me and without being asked. And who knew that a brief daily chat equates to being friends.

"Um so how is this going to work" I ask "how do we make this believeable"

"We have two weeks right?" He says and I nod "so we use that time to spend time together, get to know each other better and become completely comfortable with each other" he says placing his hand on mine and I jump a little

"Sorry" I sigh "I'm going to be honest I haven't been in a relationship for a very long time, I'm severely out of practice and it probably hasn't been that long but it feels like a lifetime since i was last kissed...........that was way too much information wasn't it" I say putting my head in my hands

"No I'm glad you told me" he says giving my hand a squeeze "it gives us something to work with, you need to be comfortable with me touching you, holding you, dancing with you and kissing you otherwise you will blow our cover"

"Ki.....kissing you really think we need to go that far?" I ask wide eyed

"Babygirl" he smiles "it will look real strange of your husband goes the whole night without kissing you"

"Oh" I say "yes.....yes you're right but I can't promise I won't be bad at it"

"Nobody is bad at kissing babygirl" he smiles "but don't worry if you need to practice we can"

"This is crazy" I chuckle "are we really going to do this" I say swirling my straw in my drink

"Yes we are and you are going to have a good time" he says "so I'm thinking we have dinner, maybe go to movie just spend quality time together"

"Are you asking me on date Joe?" I smirk and I swear I can see him blushing

"Well....I...um...I just think it will help with making us believable" he stammers

"I agree" I smile and he looks visibly relieved

Joe goes to speak but the moment is broken by the sound of his phone ringing.

Joe POV

Groaning I pull my phone from my pocket and apologise to Eva. Who ever this was better have a damn good reason for interrupting us.

The second I look at the screen I roll my eyes, my cousins always have bad timing but then I did stand them up tonight.

"Hey Jim" I say answering the phone

"Uce where the hell is your ass" he says "I know you ain't standing us up"

"Something came up" I say "a friend need my help. We'll take a rain check but I'm going to be busy every night for the next two weeks"

"If you're doing something dodgy, i ain't helping your ass," he says "you get in trouble you're on your own"

"Will you calm down it's not dodgy" I say "she just needs me to help her with something that's all"

"She?........oh we talking about out coffee shop girl aren't we" he says and know he has a shit eating grin on his face right now "finally grew a set and ask her out huh"

"No.....she asked me.......wait......the hell am i doing i don't have to explain myself to you you ain't my mother" I say and i can hear them both laughing

"Listen uce" Jey says "you get the chance you give a good yeeting you know what I'm saying"

"God damn dirty ass one track mind" I sigh "im ending this call.....this conversation is done.......goodbye" I say ending the call "sorry about that babygirl"

"Its fine, if you have somewhere to be........."

"No not at all" I say cutting her off "I was supposed to meet my cousins for dinner but trust me I would much rather be here with you"

"So you told me you were free when you weren't?" She smiles "why would you do that?"

"Well....you took the time to ask.......didn't want to be rude" I mumble "and it's not like I had important plans, they are totally capable of eating at waffle house without me"

"You know something Joe......you're one of a kind" she smiles

"Oh I'm nothing special babygirl" I say awkwardly

"Yes you are, not many men would do what you are doing for me" she smiles placing her hand on my arm and I feel my heart race "it may be crazy but I appreciate it more than you know"
