Eva POV

"For the love of all that is holy will you just call him" Lola gasps as I stare at the napkin in my hand.

"Why? There's no trouble" I say as she rolls her eyes

"You told me you would ask him and you didn't" she says "call, say you'd like to take him for a drink to say thank you"

"But what if he says no?" I ask running my thumb over his number

"Eva.....hes not going to say no trust me" she says "now call him or I'll do it for you"

"Alright" I say taking a deep breath and dialing his number.

Joe POV

I was just leaving the gym when my phone started ringing. A quick glance tells me it's a number I don't have saved in my phone but something tells me I should answer it.

I hit answer and place the phone to my ear

"Hello?" I say softly

"Oh hi Joe it's Eva........Eva from the coffee shop" she says nervously and I can't help but find it cute

"Hi babygirl, is everything alright?" I asks smiling from ear to ear

"Yeah, everything's good" she says "I was just wondering if maybe.....maybe you would let me take you for a drink to say thank you"

"You really don't need to do that sweetheart.........."

"Oh it was just an idea.......if you don't want to that's fine I'm sorry I bothered you" she says and I can hear the disappointment in her voice

"I didn't say I didn't want to babygirl" I smile "I was going to say you really don't need to that but I would love to have a drink with you"

"You......you would" she gasps "oh right well um when....when are you free?"

"I'm free tonight" I say "what time do you finish?"

"In a half hour" she says "I'll need to go home and get changed though"

"No problem, text me your address and I will pick you up in a couple of hours" I say

"Alright that would be great......thank you Joe" she says

"No....thank you baby girl. I'll see you soon" I smile

Ending the call I'm aware I'm smiling like a goof but I was so glad she had called. I had been trying to build up the courage to ask her out but everytime I saw her I just couldn't do it.

I thought she was beautiful the first time I laid eyes on her and that smile........man it just brightens my day.

One thing was sure I had to make the best impression tonight because more than anything I wanted her to want to see me again.

Eva POV

Finishing up getting ready I look out the window for any sign of Joe. While I was looking forward to seeing him I had no idea what we would talk about and I knew i was going to make a complete fool of myself.

It had been a long time since I had been in the company of a man. I had no clue how to flirt, how to let him know I liked him and im pretty sure noah was still building his ark the last time I was kissed.

Oh this is so going to end badly.

I grab the mail on the table have have a quick flick though finding a very formal looking envelope.

Opening it I find an invitation...........to my high school reunion! Oh this is just great, Lowell will be there and he is going to know I lied when I show up alone.............unless I don't go.

But would not going also tell him I lied?

I put the invitation down under the rest of the mail and try to forget about it when I notice a car pull up outside and Joe in the drivers seat.

I grab my bag and head out to meet him. As soon as he sees me he smiles and my knees almost give way as I walk up to the car.

"Hi baby girl, you look lovely" he smiles

"Thank you.......so do you" I smile back as I get in the passenger seat.

"Alright how about we go somewhere out of town.......somewhere Lowell can't show up" he says pulling away

"Sure why not" I say

"You ok over there?" He asks his brow furrowed

"Oh....yeah just got something in the mail that I don't know what to do with" I say "it's nothing really"

"What was it?" He asks

"An invite to my high school reunion" I sigh "Lowell will be there and he will know I lied about you" I say looking out the window

"Hmm tough one" he says "do you want to go?"

"Yeah I do but I can't" I say "he will never leave me alone if he finds out"

"Tell you what, I have an idea" he says

"What idea?" I ask and he smiles

"We will talk about it while we have that drink" he smiles "when is the reunion?"

"Two weeks why?" I ask

"Oh that gives us plenty of time" he smiles

"Plenty of time to what..........wait, you're not going to suggest we actually get married, are you?" I gasp

"No, of course not" he laughs "I just meant it gives us plenty of time to prepare. Look we are here, let's go inside, get a drink and we can talk it through.........trust me babygirl I've got you"
