Janus groaned as bright lights blared in his face. He doesn't remember his room being so fucking bright.

"I think he's waking up."

Janus scrunched his face up. That does not sound like any villain he knows, in fact, that sounds like a certain peppy hero he despises. He winced as he moved his injured arm to rub at his crusty eyes. His hair is down, he rarely let's it down, buns are more his style.

"I hope he's in pain," Grumbles another voice, and Janus scoffs, blinking rapidly, hissing angrily, turning his head to the side.

"Why is it so fucking bright?!"

"That's some colorful language there kiddo," Morality scolds Janus. Janus finally can make out their faces and sits up all too quickly, wincing as his sore body pulsed in pain. He's surprised to see them without their masks, the only one he recognizes is Virgil.

"Careful kiddo!" Patton says, leaping forward. Janus flinches away and hisses, baring his fangs threateningly.

"Let him wither in pain," Snips Virgil, who sits on Roman's bed as he remains unconscious. Nobody is surprised, he is still recovering from the venom of the Cobra, his body needs as much sleep as it can get.

"Anxiety," Scolds Patton. "We're heroes, we don't treat people like that, we're supposed to be the bigger people. Yes?"

Virgil grumbles in response.

"Yes, how nice of you Virgil, treating an injured man with such disrespect," Slithers Janus, scooting as far away as possible from the sickeningly sweet hero.

"Deceit," Patton says, crossing his arms, his tone surprised Janus, he didn't know it could sound so harsh. "You're only injured because you decided to trash the city! You hurt innocent people!"

"Nobody is innocent you dense idiot!"

"Don't insult Morality!" Virgil hisses protectively.

"Or what?" Janus provokes.

Virgil shot up and lunged for Janus, and Patton barely grabbed him before he could do any damage. Janus cackled and Virgil seethed as he struggled in Patton's hold. "Anxiety! Come on! He wants to provoke you! You're better than him!" Patton scolds.

Virgil growls and tugs away from his hold before stomping, he didn't need to listen to that snake any longer, it's a waste of time.

Patton sighs as he watches Virgil storm off, though, perks up as he hears a low groan. He glances at Roman and smiles softly as he stirs and moans in pain. "Did I get hit by a bus?" He slurs.

"Nope, just me," Janus says sweetly, causing Roman's head to whip up. He screams and points at Janus.

"WHAT IS THAT SNAKE DOING HERE?!" Roman gasped, feeling around his face. "My mask! Patton! Where's my mask?!" He then pauses and points to Patton? "Where's your mask?!"

"Roman, Roman, relax!" Patton says soothingly, closing his eyes for a moment. Roman's shoulders relaxed immediately and he gave Patton a mock glare. "Don't give me that look, your body can't take all this stress," He scolds before glancing at Janus, who is also not wearing a mask.

"Our masks are being cleaned, it's alright, Logan can just erase his memory when they both recover." Patton says casually.

Janus choked on air, alerting the two heroes. "Erase my memory?! No way! That's not happening! Just wait until I get home! You all are going to regret this!"

"Too bad you won't remember it," Roman says with a smug smirk.

Janus glares, if his body didn't feel like shit, he would already be out of there, he couldn't escape now, not when he's weak and injured, he would have to wait at least twenty-four hours.

What a nuisance, I just wanted to have fun and now I have to deal with these idiots?

"Are you hungry Janus?" Patton asks, snapping Janus from his thoughts. Deceit rolls his eyes and shakes his head.

"You'd probably poison it with kindness," He hisses, drawing out the 's' on accident. It's a habit of his, especially when he's feeling anxious, being in the hero's infirmary while injured and vulnerable isn't exactly making him feel safe.

Patton says nothing on his pronunciation while Roman snickers quietly. "Oh come on kiddo, I pinky promise it won't have any poison," Patton insists, holding out his pinky.

Janus stares at it like it's the black plague.

Patton shakes his hand a little and Janus furrows his eyebrows in utter confusion. "What?" He asks rudely, not at all understanding the gesture.

"Have you never heard of a pinky promise?" Roman asks with a snort.

Janus wrinkles his nose, it sounds childish.

Patton only rolls his eyes and reaches for Janus' gloved hands. Janus immediately scoots back but Patton manages to get ahold of one.

"Hey-"

Janus watches curiously as Patton takes his pinky and wraps it around his own. "See! This is a pinky promise! Now, I'll get you guys some soup, you've been out for a while."

Janus stares at his hand after Patton pulls away before wiping it on his blanket as if he was afraid of catching a disease.

"I'm sure his hands are clean," Roman says with a laugh, abused by Janus' peculiar behaviour.

Janus rolls his eyes and glances around, there's only one door, no windows, no wonder the lights are blinding. He figured a fake trip to the bathroom would do it, old tricks still work after all. Besides, these heroes aren't very bright, he has a feeling he's going to get the last laugh.

For now, he can't believe he is stuck in hero territory, how disgusting.

"Patton this is a terrible idea!" Virgil hisses as Patton stirs his soup in progress.

"Oh Virgil, you worry too much, don't be a pessimist."

"It's my job to be negative, I'm anxiety."

"Janus is injured, Virgil-"

"So?! An injured person can still get ahold of a weapon-"

"Nobody carries weapons, Virgil, Remus has his morningstar in his room and Roman's sword is in his."

"Anything can be a weapon! He's in the same room as Roman-"

"We can move Roman," Patton offers, sprinkling a bit more pepper in the mix of veggies and other seasonings.

"Patton-"

"Virgil," Patton cuts off, his voice calm and gentle. "Take a deep breath for me."

And he does, nice and slowly as practiced.

"Now release."

He blows out a puff of air and slumps his shoulders, crossing his arms.

"See? Relax Virgil, we have your amazing security system, once Roman recovers I'll have him create another one of those magic blockers, and everything will okay!" Patton insists, turning towards him to smile brightly. "Okay?"

"Okay." He grumbles.

Patton smiles and turns off the stove, beginning to our soup into six separate bowls.

"Amazing! You bring the injured boys their soups and I'll bring Logan and Remus theirs." Usually, they have dinner as a family, but with how hectic the last couple of days have been, everyone has been eating in their rooms.

"Fine," Came Virgil's grumpy response as he lifted the bowls of soup, beginning to carry them towards the infirmary.

Patton grins, he hopes everything turns out alright, he just doesn't know what to do with that Deceit. They'll figure it out eventually, he'd talk to Logan about it.
