"Dammit, Remus!"

Roman growled as he forcefully plucked four random cards from the deck, glaring at his twin who held a smug smirk on his face.

"That's what you get for making me draw ten asshole!"

"Whatever, I only had to draw four," Roman grumbles, scowling at his useless cards while Virgil rolled his eyes.

"You're a child."

"Am not!" He whines.

Logan, who is barely paying attention to the group, rolls his eyes at the pointless banter, reading his book instead. "You all are childish."

"Now kiddos, it's only a game," Patton says calmly, attempting to diffuse the growing tension.

Roman scoffs. "It is not."

"Doesn't matter," Virgil says, catching their attention as he stacks his remaining cards, smirking as he leans back on his hands. "Cause I win."

Roman and Remus stare at him with wide eyes, jaws practically on the ground while Patton smiles and congratulates him, beginning to collect all the cards.

"No way!" Complains Romans. He is known for being a sore loser. "You cheated!"

"Oh yeah? How's that?" Virgil asks, glancing down at his nails, admiring them as if he's bored just to piss the egotistical man off further.

"Y-You- You-"

"Y-You, you," Virgil mocks him, grinning as he flushes and glares at him. "You what? Lost?"

"Now Virgil, don't gloat," Patton scolds lightly.

Before he could respond, a loud alarm went off along with a bright flashing red light flickered on and off. The team tensed and sprung up from their spots, their activities are forgotten immediately.

"Ugh, what now? Don't tell me it's Manipulation again!" Roman complains as they rush to the monitoring room where a series of cameras and monitors are laid out. Virgil, who is their technology geek, slid into action, his fingers speeding away as he brought up many different live cameras from around the city. They have hidden cameras on every street, Avenue, in front of facilities, and so on, they do it to protect the citizens, and no personal privacy violations are taken place. Private locations such as houses and so on aren't recorded or videotaped.

"No, it's Deceit," Virgil hisses, he and Deceit have history, that's as much as the team knows, Virgil despises all villains, but his hatred for Deceit is on another level.

On the screen it shows Janus smirking as he watches many people cower and scatter, running from the feared villain. His hands are glowing yellow as many different items around him change from their original ones, for example, he has converted a fire hydrant into a cactus, hoses into snakes, and so on. As well as altering objects, he can shift his appearance as well, however, he usually uses this ability when he and the other members of the Villain League are planning on targeting a large area or a bank.

"Bastards enjoying it," Virgil growls and stands up. "He's not with anyone so I'm guessing we don't have to deal with Pride or Insanity."

"Virgil is correct, they usually work in at least teams." Logan contributes, rushing to grab his superhero suit and mask, the last thing they need is to reveal their identities after all.

The team followed his actions and Patton nodded. "Maybe this will be an advantage, after all, there are five of us," He points out.

"This is true," Logan says, stopping before his eyes fell on Virgil and Patton. "I believe the twins and I should go, you two should stay in case they are setting a trap. Watch the cameras."

Patton and Virgil shared a disapproving glance. "Logan, what if-"

"Virgil, I assure you this is better. If you see anything suspicious on the cameras then you can send the signal to our bracelets."

Each member of the League of Heroes has a special bracelet that Virgil put together himself. It's mostly for emergency reasons and to keep in touch. If needed, with two clicks, the entire team is alerted that said member needs special aid and their location is sent out as well.

"Fine," The anxious man reluctantly agrees, setting his suit back while the others quickly tugged on the tight, yet, flexible suits.

"Don't worry JD-lightful, we'll be back before you know it." Roman insists with a smirk. Virgil rolls his eyes and plops back into his seat, watching as the three selected begin rushing out to stop Janus.

---

Janus cackled as he twirled his hands, his eyes glowing as a mailbox shifted into a large possum that lunged forward at a stranger-who was attempting to grab their mail-and sunk its teeth into their skin, scratching at their face as if it was a scratching pad designed for cats. Blood dripped from the poor stranger's face as he screamed, Janus could barely hear it over his laughing.

"Deceit!"

Janus shifted his attention from the chaos to his favorite hero. He smirked maliciously, tipping his hat. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance Prince, oh? You're alone? Pity."

"Stop this chaos at once!" Roman demands.

Janus snickers and gives a mock bow. "Of course, your highness, I'll stop right away!" He claims, taking a step back, standing at the edge of the building he stood on, he wanted a good view to watch his chaos unfold after all. What's better than on top of a building?

"Wait?" Roman asks dumbly.

"Nope," Janus says with a wink before stepping back, leaving him to fall off such building. The hero dove forward and watched as Janus extended a light post into a large oak tree, grabbing onto one of the many branches, hopping to the ground safely.

"He's escaping!" Roman says, quickly diving down as well.

Roman lead the way, creating knights to increase their army, giving them orders to attack. The knights ran forward, swords in the air, chasing after Janus who used his army.

An army of snakes.

The reptiles slithered and wrapped around the knights, squeezing and sinking their fangs into their skin. A few snakes were banished, but most of the knights shriveled up to dust before fading away.

"My knights!"

"I'd hardly call them that," Cooed Janus.

While distracted, Remus strikes. His morning star is raised above his head as he spirals from above, grinning ear to ear. Reacting quickly, Janus jumps out of the way before it can collide with his head and hisses angrily, glaring at Remus before dodging another hit with his staff.

Roman comes to his brother's aid as Janus kicks him in the ribs, causing Remus to gasp and wheeze in pain. Janus sends another kick to his chest, sending him to the ground, but Roman rushes in, bringing his sword down, successfully slicing into his arm.

Janus yelps, and tumbles back, tripping on his cape, and falls to the ground with a grunt. Roman holds his sword to his neck but Janus kicks it, sending it flying. He lunges towards Roman, successfully landing a hard punch to his jaw. Roman winces and dodges another hit, landing a blow himself.

"Logic! We could use your help!" Roman hisses while Remus wraps thorned vines around Janus' ankles, tripping him as he leaped for Roman again. Janus slammed against the concrete and growled as the thorns dug into his ankles.

Logan, who has been conserving his magical energy, stood on top of a building above the fight. He watched as Remus missed Janus, causing his weapon to become stuck in the concrete. Janus rolled away, quickly tugging the thorns from his bloodied ankles.

Logan focused on their target, his eyes shut. Suddenly, everything within the area began to glow and float, including Janus. Janus growled lowly and attempted to thrash against the invisible force, however, his mind began to feel fuzzy, and his muscles felt weak. His fighting slowed and Remus and Roman watched, panting as Janus' eyes went gold as well before they rolled back and his body went limp.

Everything that was floating fell to the ground and Logan gently lowered Janus before collapsing himself. Such a move leaves him drained, it requires an overwhelming amount of energy, luckily, they only had one target this time around.

"Logic! Are you alright?" Roman shouts, clenching his jaw. He spat blood onto the ground and panted, his ankle was throbbing and he felt light-headed.

Remus clenched at his side, his ribs fucking hurt. He felt sweat drip down his face and he glared at Janus.

"We should go to Morality," Logan calls back, struggling to stand, his body protested, but he took a few weak steps and looked over the edge at the twins. Deciding they wouldn't make it far, he pressed a button on his bracelet before the world fell dark.
