Legolas

A/N: Legolas is about 11-12ish, and the twins are still 12ish-13ish. (I'm putting all ages in the eyes of a human)

Oh, and also, in this story, I'm saying that the ability to sleep with their eyes open doesn't develop until the elflings are older. (It's cuter that way :3)

Six months had passed, and Vanadessë had gotten a bit bigger. Elrond and Celebrían finally gave in to Elladan and Elrohir's pleas to hold her.

Elladan stood near the garden, Vanadessë in his arms. She made a small squeak of pleasure, reaching up to grab one of Elladan's dark strands of hair. Celebrían was watching from a few feet away, sitting on a nearby bench.

Suddenly, they heard hoofbeats approaching. Looking up, they saw a horse riding towards them, with Legolas on its back.

"Legolas!" Elrohir shouted, running up to meet him. Celebrían walked over, taking Vanadessë from Elladan so he could run after his brother.

Legolas jumped down from his horse, smiling. "I knew I would find you here!" He exclaimed. "He and Ada were busy talking, so I went ahead off to find you."

His eyes widened when he saw Vanadessë. He ran over to Celebrían, gazing at her. "What's its name?" He asked, looking up at Celebrían.

"Her name is Vanadessë." She replied, smiling warmly. "Would you like to hold her?"

Legolas nodded, and Celebrían gently set her precious bundle in the outstretched arms of Legolas.

Vanadessë giggled, her tiny arms reaching out to Legolas. One of her hands found the edge of his tunic, and she grasped the collar, her hand brushing against his neck.

"She certainly seems to like you!" Elladan exclaimed, walking over to Legolas. Vanadessë seemed to not notice her brother, her hands moving on to play with Legolas' hair.

Elrohir laughed as he approached to join them. "She's never seen a Mirkwood elf before, she must be fascinated"

"Perhaps she just simply likes me better" Legolas said smugly, a playful gleam in his eyes.

Elrohir rolled his eyes. "Oh, please. It's quite obvious that she likes me the most out of us three."

This statement earned him a light shove from his brother. "She likes me better! Why else would she have seemed so happy when I first held her?"

"She was equally as happy, if not more, when I held her." Elrohir retorted.

Legolas laughed, listening to the brothers arguing over who was Vanadessë's favorite. Suddenly, he felt a small tug, and looking down, he saw that Vanadessë was apparently trying to eat his hair.

"No, no, don't eat that" he told her, pulling the small section out of her grasp. Her smile disappeared, and she looked crestfallen. She looked up at Legolas with pleading brown eyes, meeting his crystal blue ones.

Legolas sighed. "Alright, fine..." he said, handing the section of hair back. She squealed happily, starting to play with the hair once more.

"You've got everyone wrapped around your little finger, don't you?" He asked, unable to suppress a laugh.

About half an hour had passed, and Elrohir and Elladan had left in search of food. Legolas was still holding Vanadessë, sitting down on the bench where Celebrían had been before.

Vanadessë's mouth abruptly parted in a huge yawn, and she blinked sleepily. "You tired?" Legolas asked, and the elfling simply gave another slow blink.

Legolas softly began to sing a lullaby, one that he had learned as an elfling. Vanadessë's eyes began to close, and she snuggled tighter to Legolas' chest.

Before long, he was holding a sleeping elfling in his arms.
