Chapter Twenty Four - I'm tired of This
"Rebekah why don't you inform Hayley of the good news" I heard Elijah, i poured a glass of milk and grabbed a packet of dried fruit. Then turned around to see my husband standing there.
"excuse me" i said in a monotone.
"I believe we need to talk"
"I said excuse me" he stood to one side and i walked past him
"Bethany" he followed me and i went to our room closing the door in his face and locked it.
"I'm busy" i replied placing my glass on the table and sitting cross legged on the bed.
"Bethany, please" i opened my packet of dried fruit and began on the album ignoring him. he sighed.
"I apologise for my absence today, i know it meant a lot to you. But i had to be sure."
"be sure my ass" i muttered
"it's not that i do not trust you it's just that things could have changed in a matter of hours." i roll my eyes.
"Bethany open the door...please" i sat there looking at it refusing to give in this time. he sighed and there was a small thud proberly from his head going against the door.
"i love you, you know that" i will not cry, i will not cry. Ah damn it stupid hormonal emotions. i sniffed.
"when you feel ready to talk I'll be downstairs after I've apologised to Niklaus " i heard him leave, i unlocked and opened the door.
I then went back and resumed what i was doing. Not long after i finished my album I fell asleep.
-3rd Person-
Elijah returned from the compound after apologising to Klaus, entering the mansion he listened for sign of life. he heard Sophia's tiny even breaths but also his wife's. going up to check on her he found the door open. Taking a deep breath he pushed the door open he saw his pregnant wife sprawled out across the bed. He walked slowly up to her and stared down.
Elijah truly regretted loosing focus one of the most important things to him. At the hands of his own brother he had been trapped in a deep slumber for four months. Upon his return he has not slowed down enough to spend precious moments with his wife and daughter. He had no logical or suitable reason for leaving that morning. And even though they saved the werewolves it was at a price.
He traced her features which were tainted by the tear tracks down he porcelain cheeks. Never would he want to reduce his Bethany to tears, yet he did. he looked on the bed there was a closed album he opened it up and smiled. He presumed these were the pictures from the months he had missed of her pregnancy. four of them were of little Sophia kissing her mother stomach each time her belly swolen than the last. on the last page was a drawing.
Sophia while still young was exceptionally smart when it came to certain things. For example she had excellent recollection of pictures and images. applying it to paper you would have guessed it was done by a six year old maybe older. simple stick figures of four people "Dadda" wearing a suit he would have guessed at her attempt, "Sophia" with a beaming smile on her face her arms up holding hands "Mamma" this was with a big belly and above Sophia's head was "Baby brother"
he smiled as he touched the picture. But it unsettled him that most of the pictures in this album he wasn't here. At the chance of making memories today he left instead. He moved the album and sticky tape to the side and lifted Bethany under the covers. she shifted uncomfortably and rubbed her stomach before opening her eyes. She just stared.
"Hey" he said she just looked at him so he knelt down, he needed to make this right.
"tomorrow, the three of us will be together, I'll show you all of New Orleans , we'll take lots of pictures and have fun. I know it won't make up for my negligence but i hope it will start" he told her she nodded slightly and he smiled
"I'll leave you to sleep" he went to leave but she pulled him back
"don't go" her voice was so little so vulnerable. The Bethany that had grown from betrayal and upset and grown a tough and un wavering exterior. She had learn to fight and challenge, to be heard and seen. Never to be afraid and to always make sure people knew if they would cross you it would never be good. But in that moment there was none of that, the past terrors of what she had gone through and what she felt were relayed to the loving husband.
Elijah took of some of his clothes and slipped in beside her wrapping her up in his arms. That would have been a perfect moment not to say anything. Just to sit quietly and ravish in the connection they had. But before Bethany would fall asleep again he had to let her know something. It was one of the most important things they would to together as a couple. The perfect moment for upcoming parents to a second child was relayed in one simple sentence.
"Daniel, i think we should name him Daniel"
(A/n: okay i really liked this chapter because i feel it got back to the rawness of Bethany. like she was in the first season. i was also bursting at the seams for you to know the name. well first name. Daniel will have a second name but it won't be reviled till right at the end.
love you all
