harry couldn't get the precious boy with the pretty blue eyes out of his head for days.
he and louis texted nonstop when they weren't busy with school or work. they've stayed up until two in the morning playing cup pong and 8 ball on their phones with eachother and sending eachother the corniest jokes of all time. the best one given between the two was from louis, who made himself laugh when he sent it. it went by this: what do you call a drug addicted duck? a quackhead.
harry literally facepalmed when he received the message. that was the stupidest yet cutest joke he had ever been told. and it made him laugh even harder because louis sent it to him. who would have came up with a joke like that? seriously, a quackhead? what is this, elementary school?
louis sent him some pick up lines too, but harry's were way better. louis didn't expect someone so big and bad like harry to actually just be a kid trapped inside a grown man's body. granted he was nineteen and louis was twenty one, but still. and louis asked a really dumb question but it was just to confirm things. yes, harry was gay and yes, he liked louis. that made louis' mind go woo and he had to have zayn hold him when he stopped running around the house flailing his phone around like a madman. harry doesn't need to know that, though.
harry tied his shoes and brushed himself off, checking out his outfit for the day. louis agreed to meet him at the coffee shop again before their classes started just to begin the day with a good note. every day is a great day when you get to see the one and only louis tomlinson and hold him in your arms.
harry slung his backpack over his shoulders and kisses his aunt's cheek before he headed out the door. niall was carpooling with liam because his car broke down and he had no other way to school, so harry didn't mind that liam wasn't coming to get him. he hated riding in the car sometimes and it felt nice out aside from the ankle-deep snow. the sun made up for it though. it was a beautiful november morning and thank god that the university was so close to home. harry didn't have to pay for boarding or anything, the school was a good twenty minute walk but it was worth it. save thousands of dollars or go broke trying to eat?
he made it to the coffee shop in five minutes thanks to his long legs and speed. although he had to be cautious about oncoming cars, he watched the road signs and made it downtown quickly before the lights changed and a vehicle could hit him. he hated that he had to be more aware of his surroundings but the wreck wasn't his fault. it's not his fault he turned out like this. he just...has to live with it now.
louis' head perked up when he heard the familiar bell chime, meaning someone had walked either in or out the door. when he saw messy brown curls tucked under a white beanie, his eyes lit up. he waved harry over, who greeted him with a kiss to his cheek before sitting down. louis had already ordered their items and harry was happy to see a fresh mug of hot cocoa waiting for him. he thanked louis by kissing his knuckles and squeezing his hand, and rubbing his thumb over his fingers. the blue eyed boy couldn't stop his cheeks from turning a faint shade of pink and he hid his face behind his mug as he took a drink of his warm tea.
"you're so beautiful," harry says to him. louis blushes a darker red and shook his head as he covered his face with his free hand. harry moved his cup to the side and pulled louis' hand away, grasping both of them in his own before he reached over and pressed a gentle kiss to his lips. harry had already made louis' morning just by meeting up with him but now he's made his entire week, month and next twelve and a half years.
louis smiled into the kiss as harry's lips lingered on his for a few moments. his lips tasted like vanilla and chocolate, the flavors of his chapstick and his drink.
"i'm honored to see such beauty," harry tells the boy. louis shyly thanks him and wraps his hands around his mug of tea again, carefully blowing some of the steam away so that it wouldn't fog his glasses up. harry hooked his ankles around louis', trapping their legs together and louis' tummy fluttered at the sign of affection. harry was so gentle with him. he felt like he was going to blow up in a million little pieces, come back as one, and blow up again.
when harry finished his cocoa, he grabbed louis' hand and played with his dainty little fingers until louis grew the nerve to intertwine them with his. his tiny hand fit in harry's like a missing puzzle piece, that last one that was needed to complete the picture. harry's digits hugged around his hand with ease and harry smiled softly at him when louis looked up to see his reaction. they felt like school children with this cute lovey-dovey stuff. it would make anyone else sick.
a waiter came by to take their empty mugs and place them in the back dish room, leaving the two boys in their own world as they admired eachother's features with gentle touches and soft laughter. louis' mind was fuzzy and he felt nothing but happiness bloom within him as harry squeezed his hand and tucked some of his hair out of his face. it made him blush and giggle like a little schoolgirl but it was worth it.
harry wished he could hear his laugh. he bet it sounded angelic. he wished he knew what louis' voice sounded like, was it high pitched or lower? could louis sing? everyone can sing, some just aren't the best, but just imagine louis singing. it brought small tears to harry's eyes.
louis stopped and frowned, bunching the sleeve of his jumper up and dabbed a single tear off of harry's cheek. "what's wrong?"
harry just squeezes his hand and their hands to his face, resting his cheek on them. louis sat with a faint confused expression before harry built up the courage to talk to him.
"i just want to hear," harry says to him. "i want to be normal again."
louis felt his heart drop to his stomach. he moved from his side of the booth and over to the boy before him, wrapping his arms around his middle and pulling him close. harry laid his head on louis' shoulder as silent tears dripped onto his jumper, soaking the lilac fabric in little dots of water. louis' heart broke for him. harry deserved everything good life could give to him and he believes he isn't normal because his ears don't work.
louis lifted harry's head up and rested his forehead on his, gently stroking his cheek with his thumb. the younger boy sniffled and leaned into his touch. his hands were warm and he smelled like vanilla and honey. he made harry feel at peace.
harry watched as louis' lips moved with every word he spoke.
"you're normal," louis whispers. he rubs harry's cheek again as he looked into his broken eyes. "you're human. you're perfect just the way you are."
harry closes his eyes and covered louis' hand with his own. louis leaned over and pressed a tiny kiss to the tip of his nose, causing the heavily tattooed boy to crack his eyes open and his lips curl into the cutest little grin.
"thank you," harry mouths. "i'm sorry." he signs and rubbed his face. louis shrugs it off and pats his cheek before checking the time. he informed harry that they should start heading towards the school before he stood and grabbed his coat.
harry slipped his jacket over his arms and followed louis out of the coffee shop, holding the door open for louis and trailing behind him like a lost puppy. he wiped his eyes once more, making sure he was tear free before he bumped into louis' side and made him barely stumble to the left. the shorter lad looked at him in shock but harry shrugged innocently before holding his hand out for him to take.
louis slips his fingers between harry's again and grips his hand as they walked downtown. the fur in his hood was starting to get painted white with snow and he noticed harry's nose was turning a light pink. other than that he didn't seem phased by the cold weather. he actually enjoyed watching the flakes flurry around them like dandelion seeds in the spring wind. it was nearly thirty degrees out, so it wouldn't surprise louis if they turned into ice cubes before they made it to class.
harry added a little swing to their arms, swaying their hands between their bodies and he stopped to spin louis around in the snow globe of a town they resided in. louis' smile was contagious, because the next thing he knew harry had a toothy grin that wouldn't wipe off and the taller lad dipped louis down before dropping him into the pile of snow beneath him.
louis gasps and kicks his feet out, causing snow to fly everywhere except for on harry (who was his main target.) he crosses his arms with a huff and shrieked when he was scooped up and pulled into a familiar warm chest being carried down the street. louis laughed as he tucked his head in harry's neck and he scooped up a bit of snow that remained on his coat and smeared it on harry's jaw. harry didn't dare to drop him, but he did throw him over his shoulder for the antic and refuse to let him down until they made it a block farther. the light punches thrown to the middle of his back didn't change his mind, it just made it better.
louis raced harry to the steps of the main building on campus where every student had to sign in each morning before they went to their campus blocks. there were four blocks: north, east, south and west. the main office was central. louis' department was in the north block while harry's was west. the arts had their own campus along with education, medicine and law having their designated spots surrounding it. both boys signed in before harry held louis near him with an arm wrapped around his waist while he walked him to the north building. louis tried arguing that harry needed to go to class but harry had to be that one cheesy sucker and tell louis that he was worth being late over.
once louis' feet hit the top step of the cement pathway, harry reluctantly let go. he didn't want to, mainly because he wasn't sure when he would see the pretty boy again, but he knew louis had priorities just like him.
louis thanked him for meeting up with him and offered a hug to the boy, who happily accepted it and the kiss he placed on harry's cheek burned his skin as he headed back to the west wing.
