The Last Dragonflies

We threw a party on the battlefield.

I was brought up to speed on what happened. The Rumblers, although confused, were getting along well with the other tribes. I was celebrating with my familiar and friends and having the best time of my life. My only worry is that I hadn't seen Eliza since we landed. Both Ransom and Nala assured me they had seen her and that she was okay, but I hadn't seen her yet. I wonder if she was hiding from me. I figured since it was the Ice-claws who offered the Rumblers sanctuary until they could get their own territory settled, I would see her eventually.

One cool thing that happened later in the night was we got a special visit from the four, no not our four, the big four. The four Great Beasts. The other three seemed keen to entertain the masses (especial Ignis, who would've thought he was such a party guy) Suka singled me and my family out.

"I'm going to be honest," she started, "for these last two years I've actually had next to no clue what was going on."

"Oh, reassuring." My Dad roiled his eyes.

"You see, Zach never made it to Glamora, instead he went straight to a pocket dimension that had been created for claws who weren't supposed to die, in short. It's a little more complicated than that of course but that's the gist. You see, no Dragonfly has ever gone there, except for one."

Barranca, who was not my family but had been summoned anyway, nodded understandably.

"Speaking of that topic, Barranca I've brought someone with me today who I think you'll be very happy to see." Suka stepped aside.

Behind her leg even I could recognize that familiar face. Pale white fur, with two brown marks over her eyes that made her resemble a raccoon. Her two green eyes twinkles at us.

Barranca's eyes widened. "Fifi?"

"Hey sis." She grinned nervously.

Barranca stood up, then skipped over to Fifi happily and the two took went off, probably to catch up. I guessed it had probably been sometime since they last spoke, possibly centuries.

Suka smiled wryly. "Anyway, these Rumblers are also all claws who have died before their time. I haven't dug anything up on them yet, they've been dead for quite some time, but just keep an eye on them for me will you."

Nepal nodded. "We'll help them get back on their feet."

"Then how did they get back?" Zara asked.

"Ah yes, that I do know." Suka's ears perked up. "I don't know how the Rumblers died but because of Zach's circumstances, because Tenebris was killed, this kind of... opened of a rift, so to speak. You'll also be happy to hear what else you have solved." Suka grinned.

"What?" I asked.

"Because Tenebris is no longer at large, there will be no more Dragonflies." She announced. "The reincarnations will no longer happen now that both of the current Dragonflies are still alive."

Zara and I looked at each other, and grinned happily.

"This is definitely reason to celebrate!" She laughed.

Hunting parties were sent out, the ingredients Tenebris had placed on the bonfire were carefully removed and disposed of, and the bonfire was relit. We ate and we were merry.

That's when I finally saw Eliza again.

She was staring solemnly at the bonfire. I spotted her from across the clearing and quickly wove my way through the crowd towards her.

"Hey." I said.

She glanced over at me, startled, then made extra effort to look the other way. "Great Glamora! I didn't see you there."

"Where have you been? My whole family's wants to meet you... is... is something wrong?"

She shrugged uncomfortably. "I just... I kind of... woke up here with something I didn't know I had... I kind of thought you wouldn't want to be my friend anymore if you saw me like this."

I tried to lean over so i could look her in the eyes but she turned her head, hiding the right side of her face from me.

"Eliza... come on you're one of my best friend... I really don't care what you look like." I tried to laugh it off but she still looked so genuinely scared.

"You promise you wont... freak out?" She bit her lip.

"Of course." I promised with all the sincerity in the world.

She glanced down at the ground before looking back up at me. "Okay but... I'm ugly now."

Eliza turned her face towards me so were were staring at each other dead on. My eyes widened as I looked at her face and saw the entire right half was just scarred flesh. Her right eye looked permanently shut and the ear was partially torn off. It looked like it might have been clawed or burned off and the firelight gave her appearance a ghostly appeal.

"See?" She sobbed. "I'm just ugly."

"No!" I insisted. "Not at all!"

I looked down at paws and my suspicions were confirmed, my missing claw was missing once again. She must have not had this scar it the other realm, the same way I had my missing claw there.

She looked surprised. "R-really?"

"Of course!" I insisted, and felt my cheeks grow warm. "Eliza you're... you're beautiful. Now come on, my sister's been dying to meet you."

Eliza smiled in a wobbly way and hesitantly stood and followed me back to where the party was.

Now my all of my family was home.
