I'm Too Clumsy for my Own Good

up top is what Eliza looked like when she was alive, the flowers just for the aesthetic though.

It didn't take that long for something it finally happen. At least, it didn't feel like that long. It was probably quite a bit of time. I had just stepped up to rumble with Eliza again. It was something I had grown used to, seeing as there wasn't much else to do.

"You know I'm just going to beat you again." She taunted, as we circled each other, on the ground for now.

"At least that's what you hope." I laughed back, obviously less threatening.

She jumped through the air, wings snapping as she zipped across the room towards me. I jumped up before she could get to me, and jumped just high enough so I fall just back down on her. She hit the ground, with an oof.

The small crowd cheered again. I got the first point. Which was amazing because I almost never scored on Eliza. I had beaten Nala a few times, and Ransom most of the time. I'm pretty that was just his way of flirting though.

"I'm just warming up." She saved, stretching, before launching back into the air again.

I had to hand it to her, Eliza was fast. She zipped through the air and up to my level. She nearly snagged my tail, to which I laughed and sped away in a dive. Eventually I got caught in one of her traps again as she met me dead on, but managed to keep the upper hand as we stalled and fell. He opened her wings last second enough to let me on the ground gently and zoom back up again. One to one.

Then she got me again by walking across my wings mid flight, which caused me to trip big time and my feet just skidded across the ground. Another point to her, one more and she would win. Naturally I couldn't believe when I made a quick turn on her and she accidents bumped into a wall and made an even closer save, but the ref, and the crowd declared me another point as her hind legs brushed the dirt.

Then we were tied.

It had never been this way before, so I was a little proud, I will admit. Of course I messed up through, because I'm me. I was gonna try one of her own tricks on her when I got the turning wrong and accidentally sent myself, and Eliza, zooming down a tunnel, which was out of bounds of course.

I don't know if's you've flown through a tunnel before, but it's really hard. I wasn't sure how to stop until the walls turned black and I found myself in that one area where you couldn't see anything except for the glowing ripples. I skidded across the water, throwing glowy juice everywhere, and finally landed, partially soaked, in a puddle of it.

I had stirred up so much water that for a second I could actually see the walls. Only they weren't walls. This cavern was covered, floor to ceiling, in various tunnels leading off into the darkness.

Eliza came skipping towards me across the water as I stared at the walls in amazement.

"Hey what are you-? Whoa!" She gasped blinked as she glanced around.

We stood there in silence for a bit as the glow eventually faded like the ripples did.

"I never knew they're were so many tunnels." Eliza breathed.

"Did you never look?" I frowned.

She shook her head. "Didn't think to."

Zach.

I frowned and again blinked rapidly. That was weird.

Zachariah, come here.

"Can you hear that?" I asked, kinda freaked out.

Eliza glanced at me in confusion. "No...?"

Ah, well. If there's one thing I've learned about voices in your head that only you seem to be able to hear, it's that you follow them blindly. I started off slowly into the direction I could have sworn it came from.

"Zach? Hold on, where are you going?" Eliza inquired, running to catch up with me.

    "I don't know." I shrugged.

I found myself in another cave, I could tell. It was pitch black but I could feel the edges of the walls with my wing tips after spreading them out slightly. Then all of a sudden it opened up. I felt a slight breeze.

I squinted, peering into the darkness. I could have sworn I saw another claw in there. Was I imagining it?

"Zach..." Eliza grumbled warily. "I don't like it in here. Let's just go back."

"Hang on a second." I assured her.

"Hang on a second." She mocked.

"Zach...come closer." The voice said, much clearer, it sounded female.

There was a claw in here. They were hard to see, because their coat was dark grey, but I could just make them out.

I stepped forward, and all of a sudden the carvers lit up in a fluorescent green color. Then all of a sudden the cavern was visible.

"This is the cave that used to be blocked." Eliza gasped.

I glanced around and saw the wall were covered in runes. I found I couldn't read them. Eliza, at my side, squinted and leaned forward.

"When...when the four..." She started.

"You can read it?" I gasped.

She blinked at me. "I guess."

"Well what does it say?" I questioned eagerly.

She let out a mrrp, "Be quiet and let me find out."

Eliza took a breath and started again. "When the four have reached their fourteenth year, their cursed spells shall disappear, they will take up to the skies, far away from jeering eyes, but evil strikes from Ice-claw paws, as the end nearer draws. Of blood and bone they shall relate. One is bound too close to fate. One destined to cause raze. The other only just to graze. One is victim to her wraith. All will falter down her path. When the sun is mostly drowned, knowledge comes from deep in ground.
Fire, Ice, Earth, and Air, all will feel her deep despair. With power comes the will of fate, Of fur and feathers comes too late. Try to find the one that died, knowledge is the power inside."

When she finished I felt very cold inside. I felt like I couldn't breath. I started hyperventilating.

"Zach?" She asked, turning towards me. "What's wrong?"

Then it all came rushing back. It hurt like Heimsmire was imploding in my skull.

"I'm dead." I wheezed. "I died, and my sister is still alive."

Eliza glanced around. "Zach, what do you-?"

My claws sunk into the ground. "Tenebris killed me."

Eliza stared at me in horror. Then she grimaced, and let out a small yelp on pain, she clutched her face.

"Don't speak that name." She hissed, a darkness spreading up the side of her pace she had previously been pressing down on. "Don't you dare say her name."

I began to feel numb again. Suddenly it was less overwhelming. I should go back, we should finish our rumble. We should go back to where things hurt less.

    "I'm-I'm sorry." I apologized.

Eliza shook her head suddenly, then looked up at me, completely normal looking. "For what?"

Then she glanced around the room. "Wow, this is a cool cave, look at that writing!"

"Eliza..." I said slowly, horrified. "Are you okay?"

She looked back at me, grinning. "I'm cool. You ready to finish our rumble now? I'm going to beat you again and you know it."

    What just happened?

"Yeah, that's probably best." I agreed, feeling the fur on my spine stick up as I followed her out of the cave.

She hummed a happy tune as we walked back but I could help feeling like I was drawn to that cave again.

    What was this place?
